Abstract

This research aims to discover the concept and making of the aqidah learning curriculum at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The primary data source of this research was obtained through direct observation at the research site and interviews with key informants from the leadership of Pondok Modern Gontor. This team compiled the aqidah learning curriculum and Gontor alums. Meanwhile, secondary data is obtained from indirect sources such as documents, books, magazines, journals, and other documentation. The study results show that the learning of aqidah in Gontor is developing in line with the challenges faced at the time. In the early days of Gondor's establishment, aqidah learning used aqidah books, which only existed in two classes, namely in grade 1 and grade 2. Around the 1990s, books for grades 5 and 6 were added. Then, the next one is added again for grade 4. As for grade 3, there are still no books. When this research was carried out, the Pondok Modern Gontor aqidah learning curriculum team planned to compile a book that would be used for aqidah learning in grade 3. So far, the material for grade 3 is Islamic taqiyah material, not aqidah material.

Abstract

The poor financial management among Indonesian society confirms the suboptimal financial literacy rate in the country. With the majority of Indonesians being Muslims, and considering that Islam involves numerous acts of worship requiring financial assets as their object, Islamic financial literacy education is crucial. A solid educational foundation begins with this understanding, motivating this research to explore teaching methods for Islamic financial literacy for elementary school-aged children. Based on qualitative research using library studies and descriptive analysis, it is found that interactive teaching methods can effectively and enjoyably deliver Islamic financial literacy materials to middle school students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Islamic perspective on financial literacy education for children and to analyze whether the Qur'an and Hadith provide guidance on managing wealth, assets, and financial decision-making. The research employs a library research methodology, gathering data and documents from primary and secondary sources. Content analysis was used as the data analysis method to refine and expand upon existing theories. The findings reveal that, based on the interpretation of several Qur'anic verses, Hadiths (including insights into the wealth and economic practices of the Prophet Muhammad), and Islamic literature, the Islamic perspective recognizes financial literacy education for children as an essential component. However, its practical application must be tailored to align with the developmental stages of children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the aqidah learning curriculum at the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Darussalam Gontor. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Then, the primary data source for this study was obtained through direct observation at the research location and interviews with the leaders of the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Gontor and the aqidah learning curriculum development team. At the same time, secondary data were obtained from documents, books, magazines, and journals. The study results indicate that implementing the aqidah learning curriculum at the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Darussalam Gontor is carried out in class, outside class, and in the dormitory. The talqin method, lectures, discussions, questions and answers, recitations, prayers, dictations (imla), and memorization methods are used in class. The material for grades 1–3 discusses the pillars of Islam, while grades 4–6 discuss the pillars of faith. The material for grade 1 is delivered in Indonesian, and for subsequent classes, it is delivered using Arabic. While outside the classroom, aqidah learning is delivered using the talaqqi method, amaliyah practice, halaqah, mudzakarah, and demonstration methods. The teaching of aqidah is also strengthened through good deeds. To improve the quality of aqidah learning, the author recommends using a dialogue method between philosophy and Islamic aqidah. With this method, students are taught to understand the challenges of modern thought and answer them with Islamic arguments. In addition, it is also necessary to learn aqidah in a contemporary context by training students to apply the concept of aqidah in everyday life, especially in facing modern phenomena such as liberalism, secularism, materialism, and pluralism, as well as the challenges of digital technology developments that influence the process and implementation of learning.

Abstract

The level of piety of students is the main indicator of the success of national education as stated in Law No. 20 of 2003. Schools labeled as Islamic have a greater responsibility in producing a faithful and pious generation. However, the evaluation of Islamic Religious Education in schools generally only measures the cognitive aspect and has not touched the piety aspect as a whole. This research aims to develop a piety measurement tool based on three main criteria: faith, Islamicity, and piety. The three criteria were formulated through FGDs with local scholars and developed into 25 question items, which represent the six pillars of faith, five pillars of Islam, and 14 indicators of ihsan behavior. Content validation was conducted by 15 Islamic boarding school teachers with average CVI values: relevance 0.90; simplicity 0.89; and clarity 0.93. The application trial was conducted on 67 congregants of Majelis Taklim in South Jakarta, with the results: 12% Muttaqin Good, 45% Excellent, and 43% Great. The application is easy to use and produces an online evaluation certificate, along with suggestions for improving worship. This model has the potential to be used in schools or certain community groups as a practical and standardized piety measurement tool.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of aqidah education management in building the character of students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), with a focus on strategies and policies implemented to address the challenges of modern education. Amidst the challenges of Islamic education in balancing traditional religious teachings with modern academic demands, this study examines how a holistic approach to curriculum integration, the role of caregivers, and technological advancements can influence student development. This study uses a qualitative case study, with observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings indicate that the curriculum integration model effectively blends Islamic teachings with modern subjects, thus promoting the holistic development of students. Caregivers play a crucial role in fostering academic and moral growth, creating a supportive and conducive environment that encourages character development. Technological advancements, such as the use of YouTube and online learning media, increase learning flexibility and student engagement. This study contributes to the understanding of how Islamic boarding schools can adapt traditional educational practices to contemporary needs, offering a balanced approach that integrates faith and reason. This study recommends that Islamic boarding schools continue to refine their curriculum integration models and embrace technological tools to further improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The focus of the problem in this research is the preparation of the concept of nature-based children's education which was developed from analysis of interpretations of verses and hadiths related to nature. This analysis is strengthened by the opinions of tafsir scholars and tarbawi scholars regarding the meaning of fitrah so that it can be translated into an ideal child education concept. The data collection technique emphasizes aspects of text analysis and study. The methods used are the tafsir Madhuri and tafsir tahlili methods by collecting all the verses related to fitnah, and then analyzing and explaining the meanings contained in the verses. The research results show that the foundation of nature-based education is the Koran, hadith, ijma', and qiyas. The aim is to strengthen the foundation of faith in children, give birth to people with noble character, give birth to people who always preserve nature, and give birth to people whose obsession is the afterlife and whose goal is the approval of Allah.  The solutions to these challenges are a sense of responsibility, sincerity for God alone, knowledge about children's readiness, fulfilling resources according to ability, and building good synergy between parents and educational institutions.
