Abstract

Child education in Islam plays a crucial role in shaping the character and morality of individuals from an early age. This article aims to investigate the concept of child education in Islam from the perspective of Ibn Sina, a prominent scientist and philosopher in the 11th century. A descriptive-analytical method is employed to analyze Ibn Sina's concepts related to child education. The research findings reveal that Ibn Sina emphasizes education as a holistic journey involving the development of each child's unique potential. He views education not only as the transfer of knowledge but also as moral and spiritual guidance. Ibn Sina's contributions to child education include character development, balance between intellectual-moral-spiritual aspects, and the crucial role of educators as moral role models. In the Islamic context, child education encompasses not only religious aspects but also moral values forming the moral foundation for future generations. Ibn Sina's concepts weave Islamic values with philosophical thoughts, providing a broad dimension to the understanding of child education in Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi peran dan manajemen ekstrakurikuler keagamaan dalam membentuk karakter digital siswa (kejujuran digital, empati sosial, tanggung jawab) untuk merespons patologi moral era siber seperti cyberbullying. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus eksploratif, data dikumpulkan dari dua puluh delapan informan di empat SMA Kota Bandung melalui teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan observasi siber. Data tersebut dianalisis secara komprehensif menggunakan Teori Belajar Sosial (Bandura) serta konsep pembiasaan Riyadhah (Al-Ghazali). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat temuan: (1) manajemen ekstrakurikuler beradaptasi melalui sistem hibrida dan evaluasi perilaku; (2) internalisasi tanggung jawab bermula dari pemaksaan struktural (Riyadhah) yang bertransformasi menjadi kesadaran etis murni; (3) efektivitas narasi tandingan di ruang digital terancam oleh fenomena burnout relawan konten; dan (4) peer modeling teridentifikasi mendukung pembentukan kendali sosial internal, namun transmisi moralnya terhambat persepsi eksklusivitas. Kesimpulannya, pembentukan karakter digital membutuhkan upaya restrukturisasi beban kerja media sosial serta transformasi paradigma dakwah yang lebih inklusif di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health is an urgent concern in junior high schools, yet the role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) in supporting it remains underexamined. Existing studies emphasize instructional effectiveness, leaving everyday classroom dynamics-teacher-student relationships, atmosphere, and lived learning experiences largely unexplored. This study examined how PAI classes function as psychologically safe spaces and which mental health dimensions emerge most consistently in practice. A qualitative multiple-case study was conducted in three public junior high schools in Bandung, Indonesia (SMPN 4, 14, and 43), drawing on 17 classroom observations and interviews with 13 participants (five PAI teachers, three guidance counselors, and five students). Data were analyzed through an interactive model using hybrid coding that combined a priori categories with emergent subthemes. The analytic framework integrated an indigenous Islamic taxonomy with Keyes' Mental Health Continuum across spiritual, emotional, psychological, social, and biological dimensions. Spiritual and emotional dimensions were most consistently present, whereas the psychological dimension appeared least often and required intensive, individualized engagement. Cross-case analysis revealed a core tension: a programmatic emphasis on spirituality coexisted with low internalization of values, exposing a gap between ritual and lived practice. Safe learning environments emerged where teacher innovation, school religious culture, and Sundanese–Islamic values converged, while peer dynamics and limited instructional time formed structural barriers beyond individual pedagogy. The findings reposition PAI as a pedagogical site for adolescent mental health support and call for school-level interventions targeting structural conditions rather than teacher initiative alone

Abstract

The policy-practice gap constitutes a persistent challenge in Indonesia's Islamic education transformation as two landmark policy reforms converge: the Merdeka Curriculum (2022) and Presidential Regulation on Religious Moderation (2023). Despite evident institutional commitments, implementation frequently remains superficial, constraining the effectiveness of digital technology integration. Religious moderation values internalization, pedagogical innovation, and curriculum reform across diverse Islamic educational institutions. This systematic review synthesizes empirical evidence from 55 peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed studies (2020-2025) and uses the PRISMA 2020 protocol to identify strategic pathways to bridge this gap. Findings reveal that sustainable transformation requires cross-dimensional integration of digital technology, religious moderation, pedagogical innovation, and curriculum reform, with religious moderation operationalized through wasatiyyah values and dialogical methods, which emerge as a foundational anchor of the entire transformation framework. Teacher digital competency gaps and structural policy-practice misalignment constitute the most critical implementation barriers. The integrative conceptual model constructed demonstrates that transformative success depends on three strategic pillars: strong institutional leadership, sustained teacher capacity development, and coherent alignment between policy design and field implementation capacity. These findings offer evidence-based pathways for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers committed to designing sustainable, equitable, and empirically grounded Islamic education transformation within Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum era.
