Abstract

Community service is an activity with the aim of providing skills-based literacy to community groups, in this case the lobster cultivating community in Ujung Betok Village, Pemongkong Jerowaru, East Lombok. The methods used during training are interactive discussions and work practices. This training activity was attended by lecturers from the Aquaculture Study Program as training resource persons, students and groups of lobster farmers. The activity took place at the residence of the group leader as a gathering and discussion forum for lobster cultivators in Ujung Betok Village. This activity was carried out as an effort to reduce dependence on trash fish feed, the availability of which fluctuates greatly according to the fishing season. Apart from that, this training is expected to be able to increase the efficiency of lobster cultivation. This training includes material on proper nutritional composition, ingredient mixing techniques, processing processes, and good feeding methods. The results of this training show an increase in the participants' ability to produce quality feed which is expected to have a positive impact on the growth and health of the lobsters being farmed. Apart from that, this initiative is also expected to contribute to improving the welfare of local communities through the development of more sustainable and efficient lobster cultivation. Abstract

Cantang grouper has a very promising market for aquaculture industry. Situbondo Regency is one of the grouper seed producers with quite a large number of cultivators. One of them is in the Klatakan Village, Kendit District. The cantang grouper hatchery business cannot be separated from the economic aspect of the financial feasibility of the business. The aim of the research is to analyze the financial feasibility of the cantang grouper hatchery business in Klatakan Village, Kendit District, Situbondo Regency. This research was carried out in July-August 2019 in Klatakan Village, Kendit District, Situbondo Regency. Data collection was carried out through direct observation and the sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling, that is, the researcher had certain considerations in taking samples or determining samples for certain purposes. The research results obtained were a profit of Rp. 166,133,600/year with an R/C Ratio of 1.9. Break Even Point (BEP) value in rupiah Rp. 122,808,219 and Break Even Point (BEP) in units of 34,217. Payback Period analysis obtained a value of 1.7 years or 1 year 8 months. It can be concluded that the cantang grouper hatchery business is profitable and feasible by looking at several of these indicators.

Abstract

Desa Bayan Kabupaten Lombok Utara memiliki potensi sumberdaya air dengan kuantitas yang cukup memadai. Berdasarkan pemantauaan saat melakukan survey awal pada awal bulan februari 2020, dari segi kualitas, kondisi air yang digunakan untuk kegiatan budidaya ikan belum memenuhi kaidah standart sertifikasi Cara Budidaya Ikan yang Baik (CBIB). Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan produktifitas lahan budidaya ikan di Desa Bayan dengan cara melakukan perbaikan kualitas air, yaitu meningkatkan kandungan oksigen terlarut, melalui aplikasi teknologi microbubble. Kegiatan ini dileksanakan melalaui beberapa kegiatan, antara lain dengan melakukan sosialisai tentang sertifikasi Cara Budidaya Ikan yang Baik (CBIB) yang meliputi semua aspek kompleks yang menjadi permasalahan pada kelompok pembudidaya, yaitu manajemen kualitas air, tata kelola letak pembangunan kolam budidaya, SDM pengelola kolam budidaya, pemberian pakan dan obat ikan, panen, transportasi ikan, dll. Pada kelompok tersebut juga diujicobakan teknologi mikrobubble untuk meningkatkan kadar oksigen pada kolam budidaya masyarakat. Micro bubble pada media budidaya ikan dapat dihasilkan dengan beberapa metoda dengan karakteristik yang berbeda-beda. Metoda tersebut antara lain dengan elektrolityc microbubble generator, porous plate (PP), ventury tube type bubble generator, dan spherical body in a flowing water tube. Mikrobubble yang diujicobakan pada kegiatan ini adalah mikrobubble bertipe ventury tube. Aplikasi tekhnologi ini dapat menghasilkan produktifitas ikan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pemeliharaan ikan yang tidak menerapkan tekhnologi ini

Abstract

Desa Sokong merupakan salah satu desa di Kecamatan Tanjung Kabupaten Lombok Utara yang memiliki potensi pengembangan budidaya ikan nila. Aliran air Sungai Sokong selalu tersedia sepanjang tahun, namun debit airnya menurun pada musim kemarau. Kendala tersebut selalu dialami oleh masyarakat setiap tahunnya. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah masyarakat dapat menerapkan budidaya ikan nila menggunakan teknologi RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System). RAS merupakan suatu teknologi untuk memanfaatkan media budidaya yang telah digunakan dalam sistem produksi untuk digunakan kembali layaknya air yang baru. Kelebihan penerapan teknologi ini adalah penggunaan air lebih hemat, kepadatan tebar tinggi, kemudahan dalam pemeliharaan, kemudahan dalam mempertahankan suhu dan kualitas air. Metode pengabdian adalah pembuatan demplot budidaya ikan nila menggunakan teknologi RAS. Filter yang digunakan berupa drum plastik kapasitas 200 liter menggunakan bahan penyaring batu apung. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan budidaya ikan nila menjadi hemat air mencapai 70% serta kualitas air budidaya tetap bagus dengan nilai rata-rata pH 8,42, suhu 31,6oC, dan DO 5,1 mg.l-1. Selama 2,5 bulan pemeliharaan tingkat kelangsungan hidup mencapai 80%. Teknologi RAS diharapkan menjadi solusi sehingga kegiatan budidaya dapat berjalan sepanjang tahun serta mampu meningkatkan ekonomi dan pemenuhan kebutuhan protein hewani masyarakat.

Abstract

Demplot budidaya dengan pakan suplementasi sprirulina plaensis dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup lobster yang dipeliharan keramba jaring apung. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ni adalah metode transfer teknologi, dengan langkah-langkah yang telah disepakati bersama antara lain sosialisasi kegiatan, demonstrasi plot (demplot) budidaya lobster dalam keramba jaring apung dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan ini memberikan nilai posisif bagi masyarakat sasaran dan dapat meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup lobster dengan pertumbuhan berat berkisar antara 387,06 – 424,21 %, laju pertumbuhan spesifik erkisar antara 3,12 – 3,36 %/hari dan kelangsungan hidup berkisar antara 93,33 – 100,00 %. Diharapkan dengan selesainya kegiatan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini keberlanjutan program terus dilakukan bahkan diperluas, sehingga tujuan dan manfaat program dapat tercapai dan berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas hidup dan pendapatan masyarakat

Abstract

Freshwater ornamental fish farming has high economic potential, but youth participation in rural areas is still low due to limited access to technical training and entrepreneurial literacy. This community service program aims to empower youth communities in Bagek Nunggal Hamlet, West Lombok, by developing ornamental fish farming based on education and entrepreneurship. The implementation method includes technical training in ornamental fish farming (guppy, platy, molly) with a simple biofilter system, entrepreneurship training, and assistance in establishing community business units. Participatory surveys showed that 76.7% of respondents did not have cultivation skills, and 83.3% had never participated in business training. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in the participants' technical knowledge, entrepreneurial motivation, and digital marketing skills. This program succeeded in encouraging the formation of joint business groups and growing a sustainable local entrepreneurial ecosystem. This intervention proves that an integrative approach between technical training, entrepreneurship, and utilizing local assets can increase young rural communities' capacity and economic independence.

Abstract

Optimizing hatchery techniques for guppy (Poecilia reticulata) production is essential for improving reproductive efficiency and economic viability in small-scale ornamental aquaculture. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a simplified spawning system using sterilized aquaria (40×60×40 cm) with aeration and aquatic vegetation to create a semi-natural environment. Broodstock selection based on gonadal maturity and a male-to-female ratio of 2:4 resulted in high spawning success, with courtship behavior observed by day three. A staged feeding strategy—infusoria and egg yolk (days 1–3), Artemia nauplii (days 4–10), and Tubifex (days 11–21)—supported consistent larval growth from 0.5 cm to 1.6 cm over three weeks. Larval survival reached 91.1%, with 162 of 168 fry surviving by day 21. Stable water quality parameters (24–26°C, 7.6–7.9 mg/L dissolved oxygen, pH 6.7–7.1) were maintained through regular siphoning and water renewal. Economic analysis indicated system feasibility, with a production cost of IDR 1,369,250, revenue of IDR 1,620,000, and net profit of IDR 250,750. The benefit-cost ratio (R/C) was 1.18, the break-even point was achieved at 136.93 fry, and the payback period was 17.7 months. These findings highlight the biological and financial viability of low-cost guppy hatchery systems suitable for rural aquaculture settings. Future research should focus on scaling potential, feed alternatives, and digital monitoring to improve system sustainability and profitability.

Abstract

The empowerment program for milkfish farmers is an effort to enhance productivity and the well-being of the fishing community in Growong Kidul Village, Pati Regency, Central Java. The program's implementation includes the distribution of quality milkfish fingerlings to milkfish farmers as part of community engagement. The program aims to improve the technical knowledge of milkfish farming, strengthen the capacity of aquaculture infrastructure, and support the sustainability of the fisheries industry in the region. The methods employed include technical training, the provision of quality milkfish fingerlings, and assistance in the maintenance and marketing of milkfish farming products. Throughout the engagement activities, the community has shown great enthusiasm and participation. This is evident in the number of involved milkfish farmers, high attendance rates, active participation in discussions, and field activities. Ensuring the sustainability of this program is essential given the significant potential for milkfish farming development, especially in post-harvest processing.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of whiteleg shrimp farming in Akar-akar Village, Bayan District, North Lombok Regency, through the application of digital technology. By involving the Akar-akar Utara shrimp farmer group, this program focuses on improving digital literacy of farmers and implementing the JALA application, which provides water quality monitoring, data analysis, and algorithm-based recommendations. The training results showed an increase in digital literacy of farmers from 30% to 85%. The use of this technology has proven effective in reducing shrimp mortality by 20%, increasing average harvest yields by 18%, and saving 10% on feed costs. In addition, the application of technology has also succeeded in reducing the risk of disease outbreaks, with no reports of white spot syndrome cases in pilot ponds. This program also improves operational efficiency, with pond monitoring time reduced from 4 hours to 1.5 hours per day. Although there are infrastructure constraints such as limited internet network, adaptive solutions through manual recording synchronized with the JALA application enable the sustainability of the program. Through collaboration between farmers, government, and the private sector, this program has a positive impact on increasing the productivity and welfare of farmers, and can be a model for the development of a sustainable aquaculture sector in Indonesia, supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Abstract

This international mangrove conservation program implemented a Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) approach at Cemara Beach, West Lombok, addressing 57% mangrove loss over the past decade. The collaboration between Universitas Mataram (Indonesia) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) engaged 35 participants (20 students, 13 lecturers, and 2 local farmers) in rehabilitating 0.5 hectares of degraded coastal area through strategic planting of 200 Rhizophora mucronata seedlings. The three-phase methodology included: (1) Pre-activity ecological surveys and stakeholder coordination, (2) Implementation combining theoretical training (mangrove ecology, planting techniques) and hands-on planting sessions with 1.5m spacing optimization, and (3) Post-activity evaluation through participant questionnaires and focus group discussions. Key innovations included experiential learning modules and the development of an Implementation Agreement for sustained institutional collaboration. Results demonstrated 82% seedling survival after 3 months, with 92% participant competency improvement in mangrove management. The program successfully integrated local knowledge (via "Relawan Mangrove" farmers' group) with academic expertise, creating a replicable model for coastal rehabilitation. Challenges identified included the need for extended training duration (recommended 50% longer) and enhanced safety protocols for future iterations. Strategic impacts aligned with SDGs 14 (Life Below Water) and 17 (Partnerships), establishing a transnational conservation network while enhancing community resilience. The initiative's success is documented through: (1) peer-reviewed publications in Jurnal Pengabdian Magister Pendidikan IPA, (2) institutional social media dissemination, and (3) formalized monitoring frameworks for long-term ecological assessment.
