Abstract

Patients with end-stage kidney disease require hemodialysis, which is a replacement for kidney function. Continuous hemodialysis therapy has a psychological impact and an impact on quality of life. Changes in the quality of life of hemodialysis patients are influenced by many factors, one of which is family support. Family support is needed in holistic nursing services so that patients remain motivated and maintain their physical and psychological condition, even though they are dependent on hemodialysis therapy. This study aimed to obtain an overview of the quality of life of hemodialysis patients based on aspects of family support. The research design was cross-sectional with a total sampling technique of 41 respondents. The inclusion criteria were hemodialysis patients who had undergone hemodialysis 3 times, a family waiting for them, and those who experienced decreased consciousness. The variables measured were family support and quality of life using the WHOQOL-BREF (WHO Quality of Life Breef) questionnaire instrument, analyzed using the gamma test. The majority of hemodialysis patients were men (65,9%) aged 45-55 years or early elderly (36,6%) working in the private sector (26,8%) with a hemodialysis duration of 1–3 years (73,2%) with a program 2 times per week (97.6%), accompanied by chronic illness (65,9%), and living with husband or wife (68,3%). Family support had a significant effect on the quality of life of hemodialysis patients (p= 0,012 and r =1,000, respectively). The better the family support, the better the quality of life of hemodialysis patients.

Abstract

Waste management in Manado City is still ineffective because it does not use environmentally and friendly waste management methods and techniques that can disrupt health and disrupt environmental sustainability. This scientific work aims to provide solutions in handling waste problems in the city of Manado in fulfilling the dream of zero waste entering the era of Society 5.0 towards a Smart City which is in accordance with the goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). The promising idea for the waste problem in the city of Manado is converting organic and inorganic waste into renewable energy in a small scale which can be developed further into a larger scale (industry). This idea can support Manado City in bringing to a reality of a smart city because the inhibitants are equipped with education (knowledge) and technology. Futuristic waste management with a combination of technology and education in Manado City towards a smart city is one of the effective innovations to process waste with simple technology that utilizes both organic and inorganic waste. This combination will be able to result in renewable energy in the form of biofuels using pyrolisis techniques. Pyrolysis is a plastic-waste-processing technique by heating plastic until the temperature reaches ± 400 ˚C without oxygen and then producing a liquid oil which can be used as fuel.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ethical-theological and ethical-anthropological dimensions in the development of Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) as Islamic educational institutions that play a strategic role in shaping students’ character and promoting social transformation. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and an interpretive paradigm, this research examines how theological and humanistic values are integrated into the educational system of pondok pesantren and the life of the Muslim community. The findings indicate that the ethical-theological dimension is rooted in the principle of tawhid as the spiritual and moral foundation of all educational activities within the pesantren. Meanwhile, the ethical-anthropological dimension is manifested through social and cultural practices that emphasize respect for humanity, da’wah lil-ummah (preaching for the community), solidarity, and the responsibility of civilizational development. Both dimensions form a model of theocentric-anthropocentric humanism, representing a balanced integration between spirituality and humanity. The pesantren thus functions not only as an institution for transmitting religious knowledge but also as an agent of moral and social transformation relevant to the challenges of modernity. The integration of ilahiyyah values as the ethical-theological dimension and insaniyyah values as the ethical-anthropological dimension positions the pesantren as a model of holistic Islamic education aimed at nurturing God-conscious, knowledgeable, and civilized human beings.

Abstract

Anemia is a global health problem that commonly affects adolescent girls, primarily due to iron deficiency. This condition may lead to growth disorders, impaired reproductive health, and decreased concentration and academic performance. Preventive efforts can be carried out through the consumption of dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus), which is rich in iron, vitamin C, and antioxidants that play an important role in hemoglobin formation. This community service activity aimed to increase adolescent girls’ knowledge about anemia and to evaluate the benefits of combining dragon fruit with Fe tablets in preventing anemia. The study applied an observational analytic method with a pretest-posttest design, involving 38 adolescent girls at Pringsewu Public Health Center on August 8, 2025. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions on anemia, hemoglobin level examination, and an intervention in the form of health education using leaflets combined with the practice of consuming dragon fruit and Fe tablets for seven days. The results showed an increase in knowledge after the education session, as well as an improvement in hemoglobin levels. Before the intervention, the lowest hemoglobin levels were 9.1 g/dl and 11.5 g/dl, which increased to 10.2 g/dl and 11.5 g/dl after the intervention. These findings indicate that the combination of dragon fruit and Fe tablets is effective in improving hemoglobin levels and has the potential to prevent iron-deficiency anemia. Dragon fruit also contains phytoalbumin antioxidants, fiber, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C, and B2, which support immunity and overall health. Health education combined with the consumption of dragon fruit and Fe tablets is an effective strategy for preventing anemia in adolescent girls. It is recommended that this program be implemented sustainably with the support of schools and health workers.
