Abstract

This study aims to understand the peer counselors’ fundamental communication skills during online counseling in Peer Counseling Corner (PCC). In this phenomenology study, we gathered data through interviews, while the data validity was confirmed through data triangulation. The obtained data were analyzed using the data horizontalization analysis. Our results indicated that the peer counselors did not implement some basic communication skills during the online counseling, such as discussion initiation, rejection (preventing and prohibiting), confrontation, and silence. Their challenges in implementing the basic communication skills include less capable of identifying the non-verbal responses from the counselees, the counselors’ decreased verbal communication skills during the counseling via chat, a time limit that does not properly function, problems in the implementation of advice, difficulties in applying the reflection of feeling, network issues, as well as the different feel and values between the offline and online counseling.

Abstract

Career decision-making of vocational high school students is still something that does not receive serious attention and causes students to experience career decision difficulties. One of the causes of difficulty in making career decisions is students' lack of confidence in their abilities. This study aims to develop a guidebook for rational emotive behavior counseling (REBC) which is intended for school counselors. REBC counseling can help counselees to understand their cognitive conditions that lead to emotional disturbances so that counselees can change irrational thoughts and understand the consequences of their behavior. The guidebook that was developed contains material on career self-efficacy, REBC counseling, and procedures for implementing REBC counseling in six stages of counseling sessions. This development research uses research and development methods from Borg and Gall with research procedures that have been adapted to the conditions of the research field. The guidebook validity test was carried out by one expert who tested the material, one media expert, and two school counselors as potential users by taking into account the accuracy assessment, usability assessment, convenience assessment, and attractiveness assessment. The results of the material and media expert test were analyzed using the average, while the results of the prospective user test were analyzed using the inter-rater agreement. The test results show that the guidebook gets a high score and it can be concluded that the REBC counseling guide that has been developed is suitable for use by school counselors in implementing REBC in order to increase the career self-efficacy of vocational high school students.

Abstract

The research aims to produce a product in the form of a learning device for guidance and counseling courses in non-formal education in the form of micro digital based on project-based learning, which is theoretically accepted through expert testing. The development method uses the ADDIE design, with the procedures of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The trial subjects or product assessors consist of material experts and media experts in the field of guidance and counseling. Data were collected with expert assessment instruments and analyzed using the average technique. The expert assessment of the product by material experts produced an average value of 3.9 on precision and 4.0 on usability. while the media expert assessment produced an attractiveness aspect of 3.8 and ease of use of 3.8. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the product is very appropriate, very useful, very interesting and very easy, so it is very suitable for use in guidance and counseling lectures at non-formal education. The limitation of this study is that the product produced has not been tested for effectiveness on student groups, so further research is needed to continue testing the effectiveness of the product.

Abstract

TikTok application users continue to increase every year, especially the various funny and interesting features in it. It is not surprising that TikTok has become one of the most popular social media in Indonesia, especially for teenage students. The purpose of this study, namely to determine the relationship between peer conformity and loneliness with the narcissistic behavior of high school students using TikTok. The research design uses quantitative methods with correlational types. The research population is 287 students who are actively using TikTok. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling with a total sample of 172 students. Collecting data using research instruments consisting of three attitude scales, namely the peer conformity scale, loneliness scale, and narcissistic behavior scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis and Pearson's Product Moment. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the three variables, namely peer conformity, loneliness, and narcissism.

Abstract

Recent frameworks in digital flourishing and self-regulation highlight that intrapersonal regulatory abilities are vital in shaping individuals’ well-being in online environments; however, empirical evidence linking these mechanisms among university students remains scarce. To address this gap, this study investigates the relationship between self-control and digital well-being and examines online mindfulness as a mediating psychological factor. A total of 300 undergraduate students (122 males and 178 females; aged 18–23 years) completed validated measures of self-control, online mindfulness (adapted from MAAS), and digital well-being. A mediation analysis using Hayes’ PROCESS macro with 5,000 bootstrap samples was conducted. Self-control significantly predicted digital well-being directly (β = .348, SE = 0.053, t = 6.61, p < .001; 95% CI [.244, .452]) and indirectly through online mindfulness (β = .178; 95% CI [.118, .246]), indicating partial mediation. Self-control also strongly predicted online mindfulness (β = .421, SE = .053, t = 7.89, p < .001), and online mindfulness significantly predicted digital well-being after controlling for self-control (β = .422, SE = .043, t = 9.81, p < .001). Gender-specific analyses showed consistent mediation patterns for males (indirect effect = 0.167; 95% CI [.094, .248]) and females (indirect effect = .184; 95% CI [.122, .259]). These findings enhance theoretical understanding by clarifying how self-regulatory capacity boosts digital well-being through mindful online awareness. Practically, the results provide an empirical foundation for designing digital-based guidance and counselling interventions that encourage online mindfulness to promote healthier technology engagement among students.

Abstract

Mental health has become a growing global concern, reflected in the increasing prevalence of psychological disorders worldwide. Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) has gained recognition as an effective intervention to promote psychological well-being. This article investigates the efficacy of CMT, its underlying psychological paradigms, and the limitations of its implementation through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA flow diagram. A total of 96 documents were initially retrieved from the Scopus database, with 12 articles selected following rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria related to publication year, document type, language, access, population, and context. Findings indicate that CMT significantly enhances self-compassion, reduces stress, anxiety, and burnout, and improves emotional and social functioning. CMT is primarily grounded in a psychological within-paradigm, which emphasizes the integration of internal and external emotion regulation processes. However, several limitations persist, including the absence of a standardized curriculum and difficulties in implementation across diverse cultural and institutional settings. Challenges include fragmented program design and the lack of integration strategies within educational and professional frameworks. The study recommends further research to support cultural adaptation and the development of flexible, evidence-based training models to improve contextual applicability and long-term effectiveness.

Abstract

This study conducts a systematic literature review of gratitude-based interventions from 2020 to 2025 to assess their psychological impact and position them within the therapy paradigms of Rocco Cottone. Based on 52 peer-reviewed articles identifying through a PRISMA-guided search, the results show that gratitude interventions effectively reduce the symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma-related distress. These functions improve Emotional and Spiritual Well-being, self-regulation, and relationships across various populations including students, employees, patients, and caregivers. A major uniqueness of this review is the application of Cottone's paradigmatic pie—psychological internal, external, inter, cross, and multi paradigms—contributing an innovative angle to analyzing the mechanisms and contexts of gratitude interventions. Most of the interventions were found within inter and internal paradigm models, whereas the transparadigm model which integrates biological, psychological, and social aspects, showed particular promise in clinical and organizational settings. This review also highlights the underappreciated role of gratitude in responding to post-digital socio-psychological stress uniquely relevant in today's fractured world. The study concludes that gratitude is a strategically valuable, multifaceted, flexible, and low-cost resource that can be easily weaved into modern counseling practice. Discussion is provided on implications for theory, practice, and future inquiries.

Abstract

From the Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) perspective, irrational beliefs are posited as the primary catalysts for a myriad of problems, including academic burnout. This study aims to examine the theoretical model of irrational beliefs organization in academic burnout. The hypothesized model delineates the following pathways: (1) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via catastrophizing (CAT); (2) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via low frustration tolerance (LFT); and (3) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via self-depreciation (DEP). To achieve the aim, the study employed a causal relationship design. 424 subjects obtained by stratified random sampling participated in the study. The Indonesian version of the Attitude Belief Scale II and the School Burnout Inventory were used to collect data. Data analysis was carried out using path analysis with SPSS 16. The results show that the hypothesized model has received adequate empirical support after eliminating a path from LFT to BURN. In conclusion, two alternative paths of irrational beliefs contribute to academic burnout: (1) the path from DEM to BURN via CAT; and (2) the path from DEM to BURN via DEP. These results underscore demandingness as a primary irrational belief that affects academic burnout via two other secondary irrational beliefs: catastrophizing and self-depreciation. Conversely, low frustration tolerance does not emerge as a significant contributor to academic burnout within this framework.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Structure Learning Approach (SLA) in developing students' social competence. Social competence is an important aspect of learning that supports students' ability to interact effectively, empathetically, and collaboratively in both school and community environments. The Structure Learning Approach emphasizes order and integration in the learning process, where students are guided to understand the relationships between concepts systematically through structured learning stages. This research employs a systematic literature review method by examining various sources from relevant national and international journals on the application of SLA in educational contexts. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Structure Learning Approach can enhance students' abilities to communicate, cooperate, and manage conflicts constructively. Furthermore, SLA also promotes active and reflective learning, which strengthens students' social-emotional skills. The implications of this study are expected to serve as a reference for educators in integrating the SLA approach to effectively develop social competence in school environments.
