Abstract

Caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder experience psychological pressure, which can affect their psychological well-being. This study aims to identify the personality traits which influence such well-being. A quantitative method was employed, involving 213 Indonesian participants who were caregivers of children with autism attending special schools or enrolled at specialized therapy centers, selected through purposive sampling. The personality traits were measured using the IPIP-BFM-25 scale, while psychological well-being was assessed using the Psychological Well-Being Scale. The data were analyzed using the PLS-SEM method with SMART PLS 3.0 software, employing the disjoint two-stage estimation approach. The results show that the traits of extroversion (β = 0.222, t = 2.249, p = .021); conscientiousness (β = 0.258, t = 2.782, p = .003); and emotional stability (β = 0.302, t = 4.371, p = .000) positively affected the caregivers’ psychological well-being. However, those of agreeableness and intellect did not have a significant impact. It is hoped that the study findings will contribute to the efforts to enhance the mental health of caregivers of children with autism.

Abstract

Background and Study Aim. The participation of female athletes in a sporting event in each country is very minimal compared to men, basically the State policy has not fully allowed female athletes to wear the hijab. Hijab is familiar to Muslim women but on the other hand the policies of their respective countries do not support Muslim women participating in a sporting event by wearing hijab. This study aims to explore the involvement of Muslim women who wear hijab in international sporting eventsMaterial and Methods. This research used Harzing Publish or Perish to start the search, Scopus database was used, which is considered as one of the best citation indexing tools. The criteria used the PRISMA protocol (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses). The keywords of this research are (“Muslimah” AND “Sportswear” AND “Women's Participation” OR “Women in Sports”). Based on these results, only 7 journal articles were used in the systematic literature review in this study.Results. The result of this study is that the gradual increase in the number of female Olympians obscures the reality that a woman's opportunity to participate and compete in sports. It can be seen that in several countries there has been an increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in championships in the international arena, but the policies given have not allowed female athletes in all sports to cover the aurat or wear the hijab, the obligation of a Muslim is to cover the aurat, which in principle between policies and obligations become two things that intersect.Conclusion. In conclusion, despite a noticeable increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in international championships, policy limitations still prevent female athletes in some sports from covering their aurat or wearing the jilbab.

Abstract

Football supporters are the lifeblood of a club, because fans can be an income source for a club. The behavior of football fans is greatly influenced by the atmosphere of the match and the safety of all parties involved. Apart from being supporters of a club, supporters can also be consumers of sports, especially football. The presence of supporters can increase the club's income by buying tickets, club marcindace, and becoming television consumers. Supporters can make the atmosphere of the game more interesting by their presence in the stadium, because it can burn the enthusiasm of football players. The other side of the presence of supporters as consumers is to unite differences between ethnicities and cultures, high solidarity between supporters, helping to popularize football through television and social media platforms, helping to maintain the health of spectators and interacting socially with fellow football fans.

Abstract

Assessing United States (U.S.) past grand strategy is a useful guide to gauge foreign policy intentions enabling us to gain vital insights to discern the broad pattern of U.S. foreign policy under various administrations. Such an approach can be of benefit to the academic and policy community giving us a sense of the priorities of the foreign policy priorities of the Biden administration particularly with respect to the security of Southeast Asia. With this aim in mind, our article employs a variation of the analytical framework employed in the field of foreign policy evaluation to examine the possible options for U.S. Grand Strategy. At the risk of oversimplification, it selects and assesses four samples of U.S. Grand Strategy alternatives: isolationism, offshore balancing, selective engagement, and deep engagement. Next we focus on recent events to assess which pattern of Grand Strategy best describes the Biden administration’s foreign policy stance. Our aim is that these insights will help regional actors to anticipate and respond accordingly to the Biden administration’s foreign policy stance.

Abstract

Abstract

Classification is a statistical method that aims to predict the class of an object whose class label is unknown. The Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) classification method is a classification model that involves several basis functions with influential predictor variables. The MARS classification model is generally effective in classifying imbalanced data, including poverty data classification. The response variable used is the poverty status of households classified into poor and non-poor households, and the predictor variables consist of several poverty indicators. The problem that often arises in classification methods is a class imbalance in the response variable. Due to the poverty status included in the class imbalance data, the Bootstrap Aggregating (Bagging) and Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) approaches will be used to improve classification accuracy on the MARS model. Bagging works by replicating data to strengthen the stability of classification accuracy, while SMOTE works by synthesizing data from minority data classes. The evaluation results showed that the classification model of poverty in Bengkulu Province using the SMOTE-MARS method provides the best classification accuracy compared to the MARS (25.81%) and Bagging-MARS (32.26%) methods based on the sensitivity value obtained, which is 85.36%.

Abstract

Bengkulu Province ranks second in the category of the highest percentage of poor people in the Sumatra region, at 14.62% in March 2022, and sixth in Indonesia, which is undoubtedly one of the fundamental problems that requires mutual attention. The phenomenon of high poverty in Bengkulu Province is inseparable from the lives of people whose main livelihood is in the agricultural sector, especially tenant farmers. Therefore, in this study, the Copula and Gaussian Copula Marginal Regression (GCMR) methods are applied to determine how the agricultural sector affects poverty in Bengkulu Province using secondary data obtained from the Bengkulu Provincial Statistics Agency (Susenas 2022). The results show that the Copula model can identify various types of dependency between the number of poor households in each district/city in Bengkulu Province in 2022 and each of the variables, namely the Number of Agricultural Business Households , the Growth Rate of the Agricultural Sector , the Human Development Index , and the Open Unemployment Rate ( ) by considering the different characteristics of dependency such as top-tail, bottom-tail, or negative dependency. Meanwhile, the GCMR model can provide the direction of influence of the independent variables on the dependent variable Y, where it can be seen that the variables , , and have a negative influence on the variable , whie the variable has a positive impact on the variable . Therefore, in general, it can be concluded that either positive or negative dependencies identified by the Copula model can influence the resulting GCMR model by providing more profound complexity regarding the relationship between the variables analyzed.

Abstract

Background and Study Aim. The Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model emphasizes tactical understanding of the game, while Direct Instruction is more oriented towards explicit instruction and repetitive practice. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of TGFU and Direct Instruction learning models on volleyball lower passing skills based on students' arm strength.Material and Methods. This study used an experimental design with a 2x2 factorial design, involving two independent variables, namely the learning model (TGFU and Direct Instruction) and arm strength (high and low). The sampling technique used was random sampling based on the results of the initial test or pretest and obtained 36 as a sample. Statistical tests used include the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using the Paired t-test, Wilcoxon, Independent Samples Test, and ANOVA with the help of SPSS 26.Results. The results of the analysis showed that both learning models (Teaching Games for Understanding and Direct Instruction) had a significant effect on volleyball lower passing skills (p0.05). However, there is no significant difference between the two learning models (p0.05), so both have the same effectiveness in improving passing skills. Meanwhile, arm strength showed a significant difference on volleyball passing skills (p=0.000), confirming that this physical factor plays a role in learning outcomes.Conclusions. The results of this study can be used as a reference for educators and coaches in designing learning methods that are more effective and in accordance with the physical characteristics of students. By understanding the interaction between learning models and arm strength, it is hoped that the volleyball learning process can be optimized, so that students can achieve better performance in lower passing skills.
