Abstract

Smartphone addiction is a habit or behavior that cannot be controlled when hold or use a smartphone. That behavior changes the human personality that interfere with their daily habits and activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and psychological well-being in adolescents. This study uses Quantitative Method with 349 adolescents, aged 10-22 years old (according to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia number 25 of 2014 and John Santrock 2003) with smartphones usage habit. By using Non Probability sampling technique, namely Convenience Sampling, using the SAS-SV (Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Version) scale and the Ryff Psychological well-being scale has distributed via google form. The results of this study obtaine a correlation coefficient value (r) = -0.255 and a significance value of 0.000 (ρ<0.05). This result shows the relationship between smartphone addiction and psychological well-being in adolescents.

Abstract

Tax compliance studies often focus on legal sanctions, while social factors receive relatively less attention. This study aims to examine the effects of social proximity and sanctions on taxpayer compliance concerning the Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) in Pangkalpinang City. Sixty-five taxpayers participated in a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest intervention that included neighborhood discussions led by community leaders and reminders of social and administrative sanctions. Compliance rose after the intervention, as indicated by Spearman's correlation and the Wilcoxon test. The findings indicate that social proximity and perceived sanctions are positively associated with taxpayer compliance, and that community expectations and social norms function as informal social control that complements formal sanctions. These findings imply that integrating community-based and educational approaches with sanction enforcement can enhance local tax compliance, particularly in tightly knit cities like Pangkalpinang.

Abstract

The welfare of a region’s population is generally measured through socio-economic indicators such as per capita expenditure, access to education, and access to safe drinking water. This study aimed to estimate socio-economic indicators in Bengkulu Province at the small-area level using the multivariate small area estimation (SAE) approach under the empirical best linear unbiased prediction (EBLUP) framework. The analysis was based on secondary data obtained from BPS-Statistics Indonesia, covering the 2024 observation period, with indicators aggregated at the district level. Area-level auxiliary variables derived from the Village Potential Statistics (Potensi Desa, PODES) were incorporated to improve estimation accuracy by borrowing strength across correlated indicators and areas. Results showed that indirect estimation substantially improved the precision of direct estimates. The mean squared error (MSE) for the school participation rate decreased from 0.260 to 0.040, while the MSE for access to safe drinking water decreased from 0.00550 to 0.00098, indicating efficiency gains of approximately 85% for both indicators. Overall, the multivariate EBLUP approach yielded more stable and reliable estimates than direct estimation. Therefore, this approach is recommended for generating small area estimates of correlated welfare indicators when sample sizes are limited, thereby providing more accurate information for regional planning and policy formulation.
