Abstract

Caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder experience psychological pressure, which can affect their psychological well-being. This study aims to identify the personality traits which influence such well-being. A quantitative method was employed, involving 213 Indonesian participants who were caregivers of children with autism attending special schools or enrolled at specialized therapy centers, selected through purposive sampling. The personality traits were measured using the IPIP-BFM-25 scale, while psychological well-being was assessed using the Psychological Well-Being Scale. The data were analyzed using the PLS-SEM method with SMART PLS 3.0 software, employing the disjoint two-stage estimation approach. The results show that the traits of extroversion (β = 0.222, t = 2.249, p = .021); conscientiousness (β = 0.258, t = 2.782, p = .003); and emotional stability (β = 0.302, t = 4.371, p = .000) positively affected the caregivers’ psychological well-being. However, those of agreeableness and intellect did not have a significant impact. It is hoped that the study findings will contribute to the efforts to enhance the mental health of caregivers of children with autism.

Abstract

This study aims to estimate the prevalence of Stunting and Wasting in Sumatra in 2022 using nonparametric regression methods, specifically the Nadaraya-Watson Kernel and Penalized Spline regression models. Both models were applied to assess the relationship between these two correlated response variables and various predictor variables, such as low birth weight, sanitary facilities, poor population, and exclusive breastfeeding. The results showed that the Nadaraya-Watson Kernel regression, particularly using the Gaussian kernel, provided the best fit with minimal prediction error, as indicated by its low Generalized Cross-Validation (GCV) value of 0.024 and high R-squared values (0.9992 for Stunting and 0.9995 for Wasting). In contrast, the Epanechnikov kernel and Biweight kernel produced higher GCV values (0.110 and 0.356, respectively), indicating less optimal performance. For the Penalized Spline model, optimal parameters were determined with a smoothing parameter λ of 5 and 3 knots, which balanced model flexibility and smoothness. This research underscores the potential of nonparametric regression techniques in capturing complex relationships in health data and provides insights for improving interventions aimed at addressing child malnutrition in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: The application of game models in badminton for young athletes is considered very appropriate. Game models incorporate training elements suitable for young athletes, who are still in a developmental stage that requires play, so that training can be maximized, as athletes feel more relaxed and have more fun in the program. Aims: The research aims to examine the effectiveness of the game model in improving young athletes' badminton skills. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive quasi-experimental design. The research design used in this study was “The One Group Pretest Posttest Design” with no control group. Results: The Wilcoxon test in Table 3 above shows that the pretest and posttest scores for badminton skills were significantly different (p < 0.05). Thus, the game model is efficacious in improving athletes' badminton skills. Conclusion: The game model applied in this study demonstrates high effectiveness in improving young athletes' badminton skills. Therefore, the researcher recommends using a game-based training model to improve young athletes' badminton skills. Implementing game-based training models can significantly enhance the development of young badminton athletes. By integrating play-oriented activities into training, coaches can create a more engaging and motivating environment that aligns with children's developmental needs. This approach not only improves technical and tactical skills in badminton but also promotes enjoyment, reduces training stress, and fosters long-term athlete participation.

Abstract

Children's general well-being is greatly influenced by physical fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle, although there are differences depending on the sociocultural context. The objective is to examine how healthy lifestyle choices affect school-age children's levels of physical fitness in Pakistan and Indonesia. The study provides valuable insights for educators, health practitioners, and policymakers to design strategies that promote healthier behaviours among children in diverse cultural settings. Methods: Researchers conducted cross-sectional research comparing 375 junior high school pupils from Pakistan (n = 182) and Indonesia (n = 193). The Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) was used to measure physical fitness levels, and a healthy living questionnaire was used to collect data. To assess the differences between the two groups, statistical analyses were conducted using independent sample t-tests, homogeneity tests, and normality tests. Result: The homogeneity and normality tests confirmed that the data were suitable for parametric analysis. The two groups' levels of physical fitness (t = 3.431, p = 0.000) and healthy lifestyle (t = 4.059, p = 0.000) differed significantly, according to the independent sample t-test. Compared to their Pakistani counterparts, Indonesian students demonstrated greater levels of physical fitness and a healthier lifestyle. These results suggest that students' fitness levels and lifestyle choices may be influenced by sociocultural, environmental, and educational conditions. Conclusion: Compared to Pakistani students, Indonesian students demonstrate greater levels of physical fitness and healthier lifestyle choices, underscoring the need for focused interventions to enhance the well-being of children in both nations. These findings can help schools, community organisations, and public health authorities develop targeted programs to foster healthy habits and improve youth fitness across different sociocultural contexts. Future studies ought to investigate the root reasons for these disparities and create policies that encourage students in various sociocultural contexts to lead healthier lives. Abstract

Transition to digital learning environments in higher education has highlighted a disconnect between technological adoption and pedagogical effectiveness, particularly in supporting active engagement and learner confidence. Many digital tools focus on content delivery with limited interactivity, resulting in minimal feedback and insufficient support for students’ self efficacy, a key predictor of persistence and performance. This research develops and evaluates an interactive gamified learning medium designed to strengthen instructional quality through structured feedback, challenge mechanics, and learner centered interaction. Effectiveness is defined in three dimensions: improvement in learning outcomes, enhancement of self efficacy, and perceived usability. Using a design and development research framework, the medium was validated by experts, pilot tested, and field tested with undergraduates. Data were collected using instruments on pedagogical quality, achievement, self efficacy, and user experience. Results show high pedagogical validity, meaningful improvement in learning outcomes, and significant enhancement of self efficacy compared with baseline conditions. Usability findings indicate strong perceptions of clarity, engagement, and support for independent learning. The study grounds design decisions in motivation and self efficacy theory and provides empirical evidence for designing pedagogically robust digital learning environments in higher education.
