Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-module–assisted simulation learning model to enhance the communication skills of Office Management students at SMK Teuku Umar Semarang, where existing learning practices do not employ simulation-based approaches and the learning resources used are not yet aligned with students’ needs. Using a Research and Development (R&D) design, the study adopts the 4D development model—Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate—to produce and validate the proposed learning innovation. The subjects of this research were Grade XI students in the Office Management expertise competency. Product feasibility was assessed by two material experts and one media expert, followed by limited and extended trials to evaluate the e-module’s effectiveness. The results show that current Communication in the Workplace learning does not provide sufficient opportunities for students to practice workplace communication and lacks integration with interactive digital resources. The developed e-module received a validation score of 96% from material experts and 100% from media experts, indicating strong feasibility for instructional use. Trial findings further demonstrated substantial improvements in student learning outcomes, with average N-Gain scores of 0.751 in the limited trial and 0.791 in the extended trial. In conclusion, the e-module is effective and suitable as a digital learning medium to support simulation-based instruction and strengthen students’ communication skills. These results highlight the potential of technology-supported simulation models to enhance vocational education quality and better prepare students for workplace communication demands

Abstract

Consumptive behavior refers to the tendency of individuals or groups to purchase goods and services excessively for purposes beyond basic needs, often to express identity or achieve personal satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the influence of peers, social media, self-control, and financial literacy on the consumptive behavior of Economic Education students at Universitas Negeri Semarang with lifestyle as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved 195 students selected from a population of 381. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, path analysis, and the Sobel test. The findings show that lifestyle significantly mediates the effects of peers, social media, self-control, and financial literacy on consumptive behavior. The results imply that students should be more selective in responding to peer influence, social media exposure, and advertising stimuli, while also developing stronger self-control and financial literacy through workshops, seminars, or training programs. Strengthening these aspects can help students make more rational financial decisions and reduce tendencies toward consumptive behavior.

Abstract

Community service activities carried out by the community service team for teachers aim to share knowledge and skills about developing a Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)-based learning model. The direct benefit of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge, skills, and experience of school-mobilizing teachers in developing HOTS-based learning models. This community service activity is conducted as training by providing materials and practices for developing HOTS-based learning models. The target audience for this community service activity was 30 teachers in Grobogan Regency. The methods used in this activity were lectures, question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and practice, as well as a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that involved teachers in problem identification and training planning, enabling them to actively contribute to their own development and improve the quality of education. The results showed significant improvements, including increased teacher participation in discussion forums, from 40% to 80%, and that 60% of teachers were able to apply new teaching methods after the training. The evaluation included aspects of knowledge, skills, activeness, and attendance, reflecting the positive impact of the training. The impact of this activity includes a significant increase in teachers' knowledge and skills in developing HOTS-based learning models, which, in turn, can support improvements in learning quality in schools and sustainably enhance teacher professionalism.

Abstract

The Urban Marital Satisfaction Scale (UMSS) was developed to measure marital satisfaction among couples living in urban areas by emphasizing financial and communication aspects that are often overlooked in previous instruments. This scale was constructed based on the theoretical framework of Spanier and Busby, which includes three key dimensions: dyadic consensus, dyadic cohesion, and dyadic satisfaction. A total of 52 initial items were developed and tested through readability trials, expert judgment, and item analysis. Based on empirical testing with married individuals aged 20 to 40 years, who had been married for at least two years, a total of 21 items were retained in the final version of the scale. The item selection process involved eliminating poorly performing items and revising ambiguous or culturally unfamiliar statements. Psychometric evaluations showed that the UMSS demonstrates strong internal consistency and good construct validity. The scale is also able to distinguish between individuals with high and low levels of marital satisfaction. These findings indicate that the UMSS is a reliable and valid measurement tool that can be used in psychological assessments and interventions targeting urban couples.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the village secretary in improving the quality of administrative services in Bakah Village, Kunduran Sub-district, Blora Regency. Using a qualitative approach and thematic analysis techniques, data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that the village secretary is responsible for designing development plans and managing village data, but is often faced with additional tasks that interfere with the main focus. One of the strategies implemented is the digitization of Bakah Village Book C into a digital map to facilitate access to land information. Other strategies include developing information technology competencies, increasing human resource capacity and collaborating with village officials. Despite obstacles such as limited resources and resistance to change, this study recommends additional staff, technology training, and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve service effectiveness. The results are expected to provide insights for the development of public service policies at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of pedagogical competence and achievement motivation on teacher performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable at SMP Negeri Sub Rayon 02, Jepara Regency. Using a quantitative approach and path analysis based on survey data from teachers, the results show that pedagogical competence and achievement motivation have a significant direct effect on teacher performance. In addition, achievement motivation also has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, which in turn improves teacher performance confirming the role of organizational commitment as an effective mediator in this relationship. However, pedagogical competence does not have a significant effect on organizational commitment, so there is no mediating effect in this pathway. The R² value of 0.754 on teacher performance indicates that the model has high explanatory power. These findings have important implications for teacher development policies, whereby improving performance is not only achieved through technical (pedagogical) training, but also requires strengthening psychological aspects such as achievement motivation and the formation of organizational commitment through transformational leadership, performance-based rewards, and a supportive work climate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of library facilities, peers, and book collections on the reading interest of students majoring in Office Management and Business Services at SMK Teuku Umar Semarang. This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive quantitative approach. The research population consisted of 96 students in grades X and XI, all of whom were sampled using saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire, while data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis, including classical assumption tests, f-tests, t-tests, and determination coefficients. The results showed that library facilities, peers, and book collections simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on students' reading interest. However, partially, only the peer variable had a positive and significant effect and was the dominant factor in increasing students' interest in reading, while library facilities and book collections had a positive but insignificant effect. The coefficient of determination of 35.2% indicates that students' interest in reading is influenced by these three variables, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside this study. This study highlights the important role of students' social environment in developing reading interest and emphasizes the need for more innovative and student-oriented library management.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive e-module integrated with peer learning and workplace communication simulations to enhance students’ communication skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model—Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The product was validated by two subject matter experts and one media expert, and its effectiveness was tested through limited trials and expanded trials involving 60 students using pretest and posttest scores. Data were analyzed using quantitative and descriptive qualitative techniques. Qualitative data in the form of suggestions and feedback from validators were used to improve the e-module. Meanwhile, quantitative data were obtained from validation scores, teacher assessments, and student test results, which were analyzed to measure the feasibility and effectiveness of the product. The e-module received a validity score of 96% from content experts and 100% from the media expert, indicating high feasibility. Effectiveness trials showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes, with an average N-Gain of 0.751 in the limited trial and 0.791 in the expanded trial. Practical communication skills, including oral communication and workplace communication ethics, improved substantially, with simulation performance scores averaging 90.667 and 90.800 in two different classes. These results confirm the effectiveness of the interactive e-module in supporting the teaching of workplace communication and enhancing students’ real-world communication competencies. Students’ negotiation and persuasion skills showed the most significant improvement among the communication aspects assessed. Therefore, the developed module is suitable for use as a digital learning tool in vocational Office Management programs.
