Abstract

This study is aimed to identify the use of metaphors as social criticism in the songs All the good girls go to hell and Bad Guy by Billie Eilish OConnel and Finneas OÇonnel. The research approach in this study is descriptive qualitative. All the metaphors in the two songs indicate that the pattern of comparison or similarity is patterns of form and appearance, position in structure, function, and space and time. Furthermore, the classification of social criticism based on social problems are matters related to mental health and environmental issues. Metaphor functions not only as a medium for comparing or equating literal meaning with non-literal meaning, but it also functions as a medium for conveying social criticism in song lyrics.Keywords: figurative language; metaphor; song; social criticism.

Abstract

This study examines the personality dynamics of the character, Lucas, in the novel Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan. The purpose of this study are: 1) Describing the character, Lucas, who experienced personality dynamics. 2) Describing the causal factors, the impact on the character and the completion of the personality dynamics of the character Lucas based on the psychoanalysis theory of  Sigmund Freud.  The presentation methodin this research is  qualitative descriptive method, namely data analysis in the form of descriptive literature. The results of the study are described as follows: (1) Lucas is a criminal book writer whose life is suffering from being abandoned by loved ones and work pressures. (2) As a result of the causes of the conditions of his life, the personality dynamics of the character Lucas occur, starting from anxiety, life instincts (eros), and death instincts (thanatos). Anxiety comes when the anxiety and despair that are felt due to being abandoned by his beloved wife give rise to  death instincts in the character Lucas to end his life. However, the presence of Eva, the character who is able to change Lucass life, dominated his life instincts by the id system in the form of his desire or libido towards Eva and also his efforts to survive for a better life. Keywords: Personality Dynamics, Figure, Psychoanalysis

Abstract

Abstract   This study discusses the components of events and the use of language variations of the central figure in The Greatest Showman movie (2017). The purpose of this research is to explain how to use speech and the use of language variations of central figures. This study discusses the emergence of speech events and variations in usage on central character. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method with proficient free listening techniques. The results of data analysis show that the speech component always appears for each variety language and there are four languages variations from five different languages. The variety of languages that are often used by central figures is a consultative style, and the variety that is very little used is the formal style and casual style. For the results, it can be concluded that there are 41 variations in the variety of languages found in Michael Gracey's The Greatest Showman movie ; (7) Official variations or variations (Formal); (17) Variations or types of business (Consultative); (7 ) Casual variation or variety, and (8) Intimate variation or variety (Intimate). Of the 41 data found in the film there are 7 formal types with a percentage of 17%, 17 different types of businesses with a percentage of 42%, 7 types of casualties with a percentage of 17% and 10 intimate varieties with a percentage of 20%.Keywords : Sosiolinguistic, components of speech events, language variations, central figure.

Abstract

Setiap orang memiliki latar belakang, pengalaman, dan cara pandang yang berbeda. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, diperlukan pendekatan yang inklusif, dialog yang terbuka, dan promosi nilai-nilai kebhinekaan, seperti toleransi, saling menghormati, dan kesepakatan bersama. batasan masalah pada penelitian ini sebagai berikut: (1) Bagaimana Implementasi nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan melalui program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka bagi mahasiswa di universitas Garut; (2) Bagaimana nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan melalui program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka bagi mahasiswa di universitas Garut; (3) Bagaimana dampak nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan melalui program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka bagi mahasiswa di universitas Garut Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai kebhinekaan melalui program Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM). Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini meliputi mahasiswa yang mengikuti program Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka di Perguruan Tinggi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Implementasi nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM) dilakukan melalui modul nusantara; (2) nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan melalui program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka bagi mahasiswa; (3) dampak nilai-nilai Kebhinekaan melalui program pertukaran mahasiswa Merdeka bagi mahasiswa mendapatkan respon positif karena mengembangkan pemahaman, keterampilan, dan sikap kebhinekaan.

Abstract

Existentialism is a philosophy and its methodological roots come from the phenomological method developed by Hussel. Existentialism is closely related to education. This is because the center of existentialism's discussion is human existence, while education is only carried out by humans. The aim of education is to encourage every individual to be able to develop all his potential for self-fulfillment. The implication of the philosophy of existentialism in education is to provide broad and comprehensive experience in all forms of life. The goal of existential education is human freedom. Existentialist teachers must be able to foster a spirit of self-discipline and responsibility in their students. The role of teachers in the existentialist perspective is that teachers are tasked with protecting and maintaining academic freedom. Teachers give students the freedom to choose and provide them with experiences that will help them discover their lives and teachers also act as facilitators for students in developing their own potential. This article uses a qualitative approach by applying the literature study method. Elementary school students only experience the pre-existential period but continue to be formed with character education in the form of guidance services.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is one of the important skills that everyone must have, including when studying physics. Physics is the science that studies the universe and all the phenomena that occur in it. To understand physics concepts, critical thinking skills are needed to analyze and evaluate the information obtained. This research aims to examine critical thinking skills on physics concepts from a philosophical perspective. This study was carried out using the literature study method. This research has the implication that critical thinking skills need to be trained and developed from an early age, especially in studying physics. Critical thinking skills training can be done through various activities, such as discussions, presentations and problem solving.

Abstract

Critical thinking can be interpreted as the processes and abilities used to understand concepts, apply, synthesize and disseminate the acquired or generated information. Not all information obtained can be used as knowledge that is believed to be true to be used as a guide in action, and not always the information produced is true information. Critical thinking is a higher-order thinking skill and has been instrumental in moral development, social development, mental development, cognitive development, and scientific development. The implementation of ethical values in science learning is an alternative strategic solution to overcome moral degradation in society and in the educational environment. The type of research used is literature research or literature study where researchers rely on various literature to obtain research data and use a qualitative approach because the data produced is in the form of words or descriptions. The purpose of this study is to know ethical values and critical thinking skills in students. This study discusses how the implementation of ethical values in science learning to build critical thinking skills for students.

Abstract

If Indonesian Human Resources are designed to seize and win the Super Smart Society 5.0 Era, with very tight competition at the global level, it is inevitable that from an early age HR must be equipped with the supporting capabilities to face it. Education from childhood is a key factor in preparing tough and competitive human resources, where the curriculum has an important role, through continuous curriculum development is one answer to meeting the required competencies. The free learning curriculum and free teaching platform launched by the government are specifically designed to provide the right to learn freely. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze how the independent curriculum and independent teaching platform are implemented in the Super Smart Society 5.0 Era. To get an overview of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Merdeka Teaching Platform, the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) Method is used, while to find out the implementation strategy, use the SWOT analysis approach, namely an analysis that reads strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. With this analytical model, we can find the right steps for implementing an independent curriculum and an independent teaching platform.

Abstract

The main objectives of this study were to understand how group dynamics can influence a group's ability to resolve conflicts and to identify the internal and external factors that influence a group's ability to resolve conflicts. The method used in this research is a literature study. Literature review is a study that examines or critically evaluates knowledge, ideas and findings in academically oriented literature and formulates theoretical and methodological contributions on a particular topic. The results of research using literature review include the definition of conflict, the origin of conflict, types of conflict and conflict resolution techniques. Conflict can arise because one party or one party feels disadvantaged. This loss can be material or non-material. Group dynamics an effort to accelerate the dynamics of all participants and led training groups so that the group becomes more dynamic and the goals and objectives of training become more effective, efficient and quality. Conclusion In conflict resolution, it is important to find solutions that integrate different interests and encourage cooperation. Constructive cooperation and the ability to compromise can help achieve a more satisfactory outcome for all parties. Keep in mind that each collective conflict has its own dynamics and no one approach can be generalized.

Abstract

Profil lulusan pada kurikulum merdeka saat ini adalah profil pelajar pancasila. Karakter profil pelajar Pancasila adalah karakter siswa yang diharapkan berkembang setelah pembelajaran dilakukan. Ada enam karakter yang termasuk dalam karakter profil pelajar Pancasila yaitu Beriman, bertakwa kepada Tuhan yang Maha Esa, Berkebhinekaan global, gotong royong, mandiri, bernalar kritis, dan kreatif. Pada saat ini banyaknya kasus terjadi didunia pendidikan, mulai dari tingkat bullying yang meningkat, kasus intoleransi, kasus tidak peduli lingkungan, dan masih banyak kasus-kasus lain. Pemerintah saat ini menggalakan dengan banyaknya kasus tersebut apakah filsafat berperan untuk mewujudkan peserta didik berprofil Pancasila. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literature jurnal, khususnya yang diterbitkan dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa filsafat dapat memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang Pancasila, mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, memecahkan masalah, dan mengembangkan sikap toleransi dan menghargai perbedaan. Dengan peran filsafat ini, diharapkan peserta didik akan menjadi generasi yang berkarakter Pancasila, yaitu menjadi pribadi yang berilmu, berakhlak mulia, dan cinta tanah air, generasi yang memiliki nilai-nilai Pancasila dalam diri mereka.
