Abstract

The use of live streaming on TikTok as a digital media is currently one of the most in-demand communication strategies among business actors across industries, including the beauty industry. This research aims to examine how consumers interpret promotional messages in TikTok Glad2Glow live streams, drawing on Stuart Hall's concept of meaning. In addition, this research will also be examined through the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) perspective. This research employs a qualitative approach with a reception analysis method, through in-depth interviews with informants aged 18-35 who have watched TikTok Glad2Glow live streaming and purchased its products. The results show that consumers have diverse reactions. Two informants are in a dominant-hegemonic position, tend to accept the message as a whole and positively, and process messages through peripheral channels. Meanwhile, three informants are in a negotiated position, which tends to follow a varied message-processing path, as they accept some messages but adjust others. No consumers were found in the oppositional position, because, in general, the messages conveyed could be accepted by consumers, even though several points were not agreed upon and could still be considered.

Abstract

Debates in colonial and postcolonial scholarship continue to grapple with the question of whether colonial rule laid the foundations for the subsequent development of formerly colonised nations. Although many postcolonial critics have dismissed this notion, the Dutch colonial experience in Indonesia, particularly in Aceh, has not been sufficiently integrated into this wider debate. Scholarly consensus suggests that the Dutch Ethical Policy was not a purely humanitarian project but rather a response to chronic administrative inefficiency, influenced heavily by the Dutch military and political occupation of Aceh between 1873 and 1942. Since Aceh served as the testing ground for this policy, the present study examines its efficiency, role, and broader implications for Acehnese society. Building upon ethnological studies and the political advice of Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje (1857–1936), the Ethical Policy is best understood as a hybrid of conciliation and coercion, an authoritarian strategy intended to reinforce colonial dominance. Findings indicate that Acehnese elites who aligned themselves with Dutch authority were co-opted into promoting the so-called enlightenment mission, while those who resisted faced systematic surveillance, repression, and military violence. Moreover, the educational and infrastructural reforms initiated under this policy produced new social stratifications, where access to privilege and networks was increasingly unequal. Employing a qualitative methodology, this study analyses colonial newspapers, government reports, and official correspondence to illuminate the contested legacy of the Ethical Policy. It is anticipated that these findings will contribute a nuanced perspective to the study of modern civilization in both Aceh and Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of different growing media compositions and liquid organic fertilizer (POC) derived from rice washing water on the growth and yield of pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). The experiment used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was the composition of growing media consisting of soil, rice husk charcoal, and goat manure with three ratios: M1 (1:1:2), M2 (2:1:1), and M3 (1:2:2). The second factor was liquid organic fertilizer from rice washing water applied at three concentrations: K1 (0%), K2 (15%), and K3 (30%). The results showed that the application of rice washing water POC at 15% concentration positively affected root length, while the growing media compositions significantly influenced leaf number, leaf width, consumption weight, and root length. The interaction between M1 and K3 produced the highest consumption weight (78.67 g), indicating that this combination was the most optimal for pakcoy growth and yield. In conclusion, the interaction between rice washing water POC and growing media significantly affected plant fresh weight, consumption weight, and root length.

Abstract

In the midst of an overwhelming digital surge, the success of philanthropic campaigns heavily relies on how messages are crafted to resonate with both the emotions and logic of the audience. This research aims to analyze the optimal role of content creators in strengthening public engagement during the Ramadan campaign spearheaded by LAZISMU East Java. The primary focus of this study is to delve into how content creators execute their strategic tasks, ranging from ideation to content distribution, utilizing the AIDCA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction, and Action). A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed. Data collection was conducted through observations of digital activities, documentation of campaign content, and a reflective analysis of the team's creative workflow. The findings indicate that content creators at LAZISMU East Java function not merely as visual technicians, but as communication intermediaries bridging humanitarian values (muzakki) with the needs of beneficiaries (mustahik). The optimization of this role is evident in their ability to transform monotonous zakat narratives into innovative content that aligns with social media trends, effectively boosting public interaction and direct donations throughout the month of Ramadan.

Abstract

Cognitive decline is an increasing public health concern among older people, particularly Breast engorgement is one of the most common postpartum breastfeeding problems and may increase the risk of mastitis, maternal discomfort, and early breastfeeding discontinuation. This scoping review aimed to map and synthesize existing evidence regarding risk factors associated with breast engorgement in postpartum women. The review followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A systematic search of Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Wiley Online Library, and PubMed was conducted for articles published between 2015 and 2025. Studies examining factors associated with breast engorgement among postpartum mothers were eligible. Two independent reviewers performed study screening and selection, and data were charted using a standardized extraction form. A total of 11 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that breast engorgement is a multifactorial condition influenced by maternal characteristics, socioeconomic and environmental factors, infant-related factors, breastfeeding practices, maternal knowledge and perceptions, family and social support, healthcare system support, and cultural practices. The themes were generated through inductive thematic analysis of the included studies. Recurrent patterns across studies suggest that inadequate milk removal, delayed breastfeeding initiation, limited maternal knowledge, and insufficient professional support are frequently reported factors associated with breast engorgement. This review highlights the complexity of breast engorgement and the broad range of factors discussed in the literature. The findings provide an evidence map that may inform future research, clinical practice, and supportive breastfeeding interventions, while acknowledging that scoping reviews are designed to explore and map evidence rather than determine causal relationships Keywords: Breast engorgement, postpartum mothers, breastfeeding, risk factors, scoping review

Abstract

New media exists to meet human needs, especially the need for information and self-expression. However, users need to adapt to utilise it, and this adaptation process varies from person to person, including Generation Z. Generation Z is one of the generations that quickly adapts to the presence of new media compared to previous generations. The ease with which Generation Z uses new media such as Instagram also makes Generation Z use the new media. Some members of Generation Z even have several social media accounts at the same time. Based on this background, the purpose of this study is to find out how self-presentation by Generation Z occurs when using multiple Instagram accounts. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach as the research method. The data collection technique employed is Focus Group Discussion (FGD), where the participants are members of Generation Z. There were 10 high school students as participants. The sampling method used in this study was snowball sampling. The conclusion of this research shows that the use of Instagram multiple accounts by Generation Z is indicative of a sophisticated self-presentation technique. The main account provides a formal setting for creating an idealised persona and obtaining approval from others. With a smaller audience, secondary accounts provide a forum for more genuine, impromptu, and emotional self-expression. Other accounts, meanwhile, provide chances to experiment with different characters, interests, and identities. These self-presentations show how Generation Z balances the personal identity they want to preserve in the digital sphere with the social image they want to convey.

Abstract

This scoping review aims to identify and categorize pedagogical interventions designed to enhance menstrual hygiene knowledge, attitudes, and practices among adolescent girls. The study was conducted in accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature published between 2020 and 2026 was retrieved from PubMed, EBSCOhost, SAGE Journals, Scopus, and ScienceDirect using a Population–Exposure–Outcome (PEO) search strategy. Studies were included if they involved adolescent girls, examined menstrual hygiene education interventions, and reported outcomes related to knowledge, attitudes, or practices. Data were extracted and analyzed descriptively, and methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Tools. The 15 included studies were predominantly conducted in South and Southeast Asia, as well as Sub-Saharan Africa. Notably, six studies employed digital approaches, while nine utilized conventional methods, reflecting a growing trend toward technology-based interventions. The interventions varied widely, including digital and mHealth-based approaches, school-based education, peer-led programs, and multicomponent strategies. Improvements were consistently reported in knowledge and attitudes, whereas changes in hygiene practices were less consistent across studies. Theoretical frameworks such as Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory and Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning were commonly used to support intervention effectiveness. Overall, educational interventions are evolving toward more participatory and technology-enhanced models that create safe spaces for adolescents. These findings provide guidance for educational practitioners and curriculum developers in designing more effective, inclusive, and adolescent-centered menstrual hygiene education programs.
