Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mooring costs and handling costs on the effectiveness of dry bulk loading and unloading. In supporting activities at the Port, the process of loading and unloading dry bulk often has cost factors that can affect the effectiveness of completion time. The method used is quantitative, which is analysed with SPSS version 27 with several components, such as assumption tests, classical, correlation coefficient, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that mooring fees have a significant and positive effect on the effectiveness of loading and unloading, where an increase in mooring fees encourages the acceleration of the loading and unloading process. handling costs partially do not show a significant effect on effectiveness, but simultaneously with mooring fees have a significant effect. This research provides insight for PT Berlian Manyar Sejahtera in optimising operational cost management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of loading and unloading activities

Abstract

In the operation of ships, there are a lot of jobs, both light and heavy, that have a high risk to occupational safety. Work accidents do not only occur on land, but work accidents often occur on ships. The research method used is qualitative, namely data collection through documentation, observation, and interviews with data analysis techniques using Fishbone Diagrams to determine what are the possible obstacles in the implementation of the use of personal protective equipment, factors that cause work accidents in the crew, and efforts made to optimize the implementation of occupational safety and health on board and determine the priority of problems. By using Fishbone Diagram as a data analysis technique, the root cause of the problem can be found. Based on these data analysis techniques, the causes of work accidents on ships often occur due to lack of awareness, low supervision, and lack of understanding of the crew at work. In addition, there are also other factors, namely work equipment that is not suitable for use. Work accidents can be prevented if the company's leadership and all executives are committed to developing and implementing effective occupational safety and health procedures. This includes instilling awareness of the importance of work safety, direct guidance and supervision to the crew of ships, as well as the establishment of a safety management system supported by skilled human resources and adequate safety equipment facilities. The implementation of optimal K3 procedures will create a safe and efficient work environment, so that ship operations can run smoothly and work accidents can be prevented.

Abstract

Clinker merupakan bahan baku utama pembuatan semen yang termasuk dalam muatan yang bersifat mudah rusak apabila tercampur dengan benda asing terutama air. Namun pada saat kegiatan berlangsung di Pelabuhan banyak ditemukan kejadian rusaknya atau terkontaminasinya cargo clinker sehingga menyebabkan terhambatnya kegiatan bongkar muat. Kondisi alat penutup yang kurang layak serta faktor cuaca yang kurang mendukung menjadi penghambat kelancaran proses bongkar muat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membahas tentang apakah kerusakan cargo berpengaruh terhadap proses pemuatan clinker pada PT. Varia Usaha Bahari. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode kuantitatif, sedangkan untuk Teknik analisis data penulis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana untuk mengidentifikasi masalah dan untuk menghasilkan prioritas penyelesaian. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan cargo berpengaruh terhadap kegiatan proses pemuatan clinker pada PT. Varia Usaha Bahari, didapatkan nilai sig 0.000 lebih kecil dari pada 0.05 serta pada uji regresi menunjukan Y : 2968 + 1,022X menunjukan setiap pertambahan pada variabel x akan menyebabkan pertambahan pada variabel y secara positif dan berpengaruh signifikan.   Clinker is the main raw material for cement production which is included in the cargo that is easily damaged when mixed with foreign objects, especially water. However, during the activity at the Port, there were many incidents of damage or contamination of cargo clinker that caused the inhibition of loading and unloading activities. The condition of the cover equipment is not suitable and the weather factors are not conducive to the smooth loading and unloading process. The purpose of this study is to discuss whether cargo damage affects the clinker loading process at PT. Marine Business Varia. In this study, the author used a quantitative method, while for the data analysis technique, the author used simple linear regression to identify problems and to generate priority solutions. The results in this study show that cargo damage affects the clinker loading process activities at PT. The Marine Business Varia, obtained a sig value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 and the regression test shows Y: 2968 + 1.022X showing that every increase in variable x will cause an increase in variable y positively and has a significant effect.

Abstract

Limbah cair industri tahu mengandung padatan tersuspensi atau lauratan yang mengalami perubahan fisik, kimia, dan biologi, serta akan menghasilkan zat beracun bahkan bisa membuat media pertumbuhyan untuk kuman. dan dapat menyebabkan gatal, diare, sampai mual apabila dimanfaatkan oleh manusia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan mikrobact dan Efective Microorganisme-4 (EM4) terhadap kualitas kadar BOD, amoniak dan pH pada limbah cair industri tahu. Jenis penelitain yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen laboratorium. Pengumpulan data didapat dari hasil pemeriksaan BOD, pH, serta amoniak limbah cair tahu yang diberi perlakuan dengan penambahan EM-4 dan microbact 100, 200 ml dengan limbah sebanyak 1 liter. dengan lama fermentasi yang berbeda - beda yaitu lama fermentasi 7, 14, 21 hari. Penelitian dilakukan selama 4 bulan, bulan Januari-April 2023. Yang dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Kualitas Air, Fakultas Perikanan dan kelautan, Universitas Mulawarman. : Konsentrasi larutan yang paling optimal guna menurunkan kadar BOD pada limbah cair tahu adalah P2 (200 ml Larutan effective Microorganisme-4), Konsentrasi larutan yang paling optimal guna menurunkan kadar amoniak pada limbha cair tahu adalah P4 (200 ml Microbat), Konsentrasi optimal parameter pH di perlakuan 2 dengan penggunaan larutan effective Microorganisme-4 (EM4) sebanyak 200 ml. Penambahan larutan effective Microorganisme-4 (EM4) dan microbact terhadap kadar BOD, amoniak, dan pH pada limbah cair industri tahu berpengaruh, dapat dilihat dari adanya penerunan nilai kadar limbah masing masing parameter.

Abstract

The loading and unloading process involves moving goods from one place to another, often requiring specialized equipment such as a wire crane. In maritime operations, unexpected incidents like wire crane breakage can occur. Wire crane breakage refers to damage in the sling wire of a ship's crane, reducing its lifting capacity and causing the wire fibres to unravel. During sea-based fieldwork on the MV. Pacific Bulk, researchers observed a wire crane failure during loading and unloading operations, which caused delays and financial losses. This study aims to identify the causes of wire crane breakage on the MV. Pacific Bulk and examine its technical and operational impacts. Using a qualitative descriptive method and fishbone analysis for data interpretation, the study found several contributing factors: wire corrosion, crane age, lack of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for crane maintenance, insufficient crew, inadequate maintenance, lack of routine inspections, and challenging environmental conditions. The research also highlights the technical and operational consequences of such failures, including delays and economic loss. To address the issue, the study suggests implementing scheduled periodic inspections following SOPs, applying regular lubrication, and maintaining data records of the wire crane’s lifespan. These preventative measures aim to improve operational efficiency and avoid future wire crane failures.

Abstract

This research discusses issues related to the Navigation Aids, particularly the buoy objects. The study aims to design and develop a monitoring device for buoys based on the Internet of Things (IoT). This study aims to design and develop a buoy monitoring device based on the Internet of Things (IoT) as a solution to the lack of monitoring and supervision of buoys in the Tanjung Perak Navigation District. The identified contributing factors include: (1) displacement of buoys due to ocean currents, (2) suboptimal performance of the flasher lights, and (3) disappearance of the buoys. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method, the researcher designed a monitoring system capable of real-time observation through internet connectivity. The product feasibility test conducted by experts resulted in an average percentage index of 94%, placing it in the 'Highly Feasible' category for use. The results demonstrate that the IoT-based buoy monitoring device significantly enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of buoy supervision. This research is expected to contribute to the development of knowledge within the Bachelor of Applied Science in Marine Transportation program and provide technological innovation in the field of maritime navigation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Shipping safety is everything that can be developed related to accident prevention measures when carrying out work in the shipping sector. Shipping safety and security is a state of fulfillment of transportation safety and security requirements in waters, ports and maritime environments. Fire extinguishing equipment is vital in ensuring operational safety on board and meeting the requirements set by SOLAS. Regular and regular maintenance is required to ensure that fire extinguishing equipment is always in a ready-to-use condition in the event of an emergency. Conducting periodic drills aims to find out the extent of the readiness of fire extinguishing equipment to be used and its completeness. This study has the purpose of finding out: 1) Factors causing fire extinguishing equipment in KM. Lambelu is less than optimal 2) The impact that will occur if routine maintenance is not carried out on the fire extinguisher. The method used by the researcher this time is a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study are as follows, The main causes of damage to light fire extinguishers in KM. Lambelu is the lack of inspection and supervision that is carried out periodically on the equipment, while other supporting factors are the lack of understanding and skills of the crew in operating light fire extinguishers, the use of light fire extinguishers that are not in accordance with the SOPs, and exposure to the marine environment that causes light fire extinguishers to corrode or rust. The impact of not carrying out routine maintenance is a decrease in preparedness in times of emergency, in addition to that it will cause financial losses, operational disruptions, and reduce public trust in the company.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of container lashing techniques in reducing the risk of cargo damage on MV. Tanto Bersinar. Lashing is a method of securing containers using equipment such as twist locks, lashing bars, and turnbuckle s to ensure cargo stability and safety during sea transport. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach through direct observation, interviews with crew members, and documentation. The findings indicate that the lashing technique on board has not been fully effective due to several factors, including insufficient quantity and poor condition of lashing equipment, limited crew understanding of proper procedures, and lack of regular training and supervision. The ineffectiveness of the lashing process leads to safety risks, operational delays, financial losses, and reputational damage to the company. This study recommends providing adequate and well-maintained lashing equipment, conducting routine crew training, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, and improving oversight to meet maritime safety standards. Proper implementation of lashing techniques is essential to minimize cargo damage and enhance the overall safety of maritime operations.

Abstract

Ship loading and unloading activities are one of the vital components in port operations that greatly affect logistics efficiency and the smooth distribution of goods, especially energy commodities such as coal. This study aims to analyze the effect of coal loading and unloading activities on the MV. Chang Long ship on the efficiency of clearance in & out time at PT. Adhika Samudera Jaya, a shipping company that acts as a ship agent in the Palembang area. This clearance process includes administrative and operational aspects that must be fulfilled by the ship before and after loading and unloading activities are carried out. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through field observations, interviews with related parties such as operational heads, operational staff, and shippers, as well as documentation. The results of the study showed that there were several obstacles in loading and unloading activities that had a direct impact on delays in clearance in & out, including late payment of Letter of Credit (LC) by buyers, bad weather conditions, lack of coordination between related parties, and technical disruptions such as damage to loading and unloading equipment. These delays have an impact on operational cost inflation and decreased time efficiency. The solutions offered include document digitalization, improved communication and coordination between ship agents, ports, and buyers, and strengthening the logistics management system. This research is expected to be a reference for the shipping industry in managing loading and unloading activities effectively, as well as assisting port agencies in improving the efficiency of ship clearance procedures. With coordinated and systematic implementation, the clearance in & out process can take place faster, more efficiently, and have a positive impact on the smooth distribution of strategic commodities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat produktivitas kegiatan muat batubara dengan metode Ship to Ship (STS) pada kapal-kapal yang diageni oleh PT. Adhika Samudera Jaya Cabang Banjarmasin. Kegiatan muat batubara secara STS merupakan salah satu metode efisien dalam distribusi komoditas tambang, namun keberhasilannya sangat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor operasional, teknis, dan cuaca. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif untuk mengevaluasi produktivitas berdasarkan indikator waktu operasi, volume muatan, frekuensi kegiatan, serta hambatan yang dihadapi selama proses muat. Data dikumpulkan dari laporan kegiatan Ship to Ship selama satu tahun terakhir, wawancara dengan pihak operasional, dan observasi langsung di lapangan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa produktivitas muat batubara dipengaruhi oleh kesiapan peralatan, koordinasi antar kapal, serta faktor eksternal seperti kondisi cuaca dan pasang surut. Rata-rata produktivitas mencapai 200-500 ton/jam dengan menggunakan Ship Crane, jika menggunakan Conveyor mencapai 400-800 ton/jam, dengan beberapa kegiatan mengalami penurunan akibat gangguan teknis atau keterlambatan izin. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan evaluasi bagi perusahaan dalam meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas operasional muat batubara ke depannya.
