Abstract

The implementation of subsidized fertilizer policies has been implemented in Indonesia since the 1970s until now. The government's policy of spending a budget to subsidize fertilizer prices has yet to be able to encourage increased productivity of agricultural products. This indicates that the government's efforts in input price subsidies must be more effective in stabilizing rice productivity in terms of the subsidized fertilizer policy expenditure budget. The objectives of this research are 1) to analyze the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizer distribution and 2) to analyze the effect of using urea and NPK fertilizers on farmers who receive fertilizer subsidies for rice production. This research uses primary data by directly interviewing respondent farmers in Kertajati District and Majalengka District, Majalengka Regency. The assessment of the effectiveness of the subsidized fertilizer policy can be measured using six appropriate indicators, namely the exact type, exact quantity, exact price, exact place, exact time, and exact quality. The effect of urea and NPK fertilizers was analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas production function with the ordinary least squares method. This research found that the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizer distribution in Majalengka District has a percentage level of effectiveness above 74.2% (quite effective). Analysis of the effect of using urea and NPK fertilizer shows that the independent variables that positively and significantly influence rice production are seeds, use of urea fertilizer, and labor. Different things happen to the NPK fertilizer, and using a mixture of subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers has no significant effect on rice production.

Abstract

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on food supply chains at both domestic and global levels. At the same time, Indonesia's food security index experienced a significant decline. This study presents an exploratory approach-based research review aiming at identifying problems occurring along food supply chain post COVID-19 pandemic, and at examining possible policies, studies and research needed to improve food security. In addition to relevant previous studies, the authors analysed data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and Bank of Indonesia (BI). A number of problems and issues pertinent to Indonesia’s food supply chain that may adversely affect food security are identified and a post COVID-19 “exit strategy” to strengthen food supply chain is explored.

Abstract

Many coffee producers in Indonesia carry on organic certification to warrant their production and processing standards. One of them is Nunggal Roso Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan) which performs state-financed organic certification on their robusta coffee products. This research aims to describe farm activities and organic certification applications on Gapoktan Nunggal Roso and analyze its income and profit in 2020. As many as 60 randomly selected respondents consist of 30 organic coffee farmers and 30 non-organic coffee farmers. The organic certification impacts were analyzed using income and profit analysis and then tested for their differences statistically. These research results signify that coffee farms in the research location which has been undertaken in polyculture with shading trees and intercropping plants do not change considerably by the presence of certification. Besides, also known from the research that the return to family labor in each working person-day of organic coffee farmers is lower than that of non-organic coffee farmers.

Abstract

Firm size, foreign networks and location has been analyzed as the factors in differentiating between exporting and nonexporting firms. The objective of this study is to analyze factors which made the firms export on the case of food processing sector in Indonesia. The data utilized is the Industry Survey in 2013 by the Statistics Indonesia. The results indicate that foreign networks, represent by foreign shares and imported input, and location are affecting firm to export. Meanwhile from four variables of firm size only one variable has significant effect (production worker expenditure). From these variables it can be inferred that linking with foreign side in the form of share or inputs will induce firm to export.

Abstract

Berdasarkan kapasitas produksi, biodiesel menempati posisi kedua tertinggi produk turunan minyak sawit setelah minyak goreng, yaitu sebesar 11.4 juta ton, minyak goreng sebesar 15.3 juta ton, sabun dan detergen sebesar 3.6 juta ton, oleokimia dasar sebesar 1.7 ton dan margarin/shortening sebesar 0.8 juta ton (Ditjenbun, 2019).
