Abstract

Object detection plays a crucial role in traffic surveillance, particularly in urban environments characterized by high vehicle density, diverse weather conditions, and limited computational resources. Although YOLOv9 and DETR have demonstrated strong performance in general object detection tasks, there is a lack of comparative research evaluating their effectiveness under specific challenges of traffic surveillance. These challenges include the need for real-time processing, accurate detection of small or partially occluded objects, and adaptability to complex traffic scenarios. This study addresses this gap by conducting a comparative evaluation of YOLOv9 and DETR using a custom traffic image dataset, with training iterations varied from 10 to 50 epochs to observe performance development. Evaluation metrics included mean average precision, precision, recall, F1-score, inference time, and object count per image. The results indicated that DETR achieved the highest accuracy across all metrics at the final training stage and detected up to 22 objects per image. However, the average inference time exceeded seven seconds per image, limiting the real-time applicability. Conversely, YOLOv9 achieved competitive accuracy with a significantly faster inference time of approximately 0.43 seconds per image. These findings provide practical insights into the trade-off between accuracy and processing efficiency, and offer guidance for model selection in operational traffic surveillance systems.

Abstract

This study analyzed the Supreme Court Cassation Verdict Number 624 K/Ag/2017, regarding the musyarakah agreement between the customer and PT. Bank Sumut Padangsidimpuan Branch, in which the latter had disbursed financing to the customer before the issuance of a life insurance policy letter. The focus of the research was to investigate the settlement of the musharakah agreement due to the negligence of the bank which resulted in the customer’s obligation to pay the remaining debt based on the Supreme Court Cassation Verdict Number 624 K/Ag/2017. The study used a qualitative research approach with a case approach, statute approach, and conceptual approach. This study concludes that based on the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (Kompilasi Hukum Ekonomi Syariah or KHES) Articles 209-210 if one of the parties in the agreement dies, the contract ends, and the loss caused by the death of the mudharib is borne by the owner of the capital. Therefore, even though in a musyarakah contract there is a mix of assets of both customers and Islamic banks. However, because the bank was negligent in their prudential banking principles practice and this action was against the law, then in regards to the legal protection theory, the losses experienced from the musyarakah contract should have been borne by the bank as a form of punishment for the unlawful act due to negligence in implementing the prudential banking principle.

Abstract

Spent Bleaching Earth is an industrial waste generated primarily from vegetable oil processing and contains     20-40% oil by weight, which poses a fire hazard due to the risk of spontaneous combustion. Commonly, Spent Bleaching Earth is processed using extraction methods with solvents like n-hexane, methanol, or steam. However, transforming SBE into liquid fuel via pyrolysis remains underexplored. This research aims to convert into liquid fuel through pyrolysis. The process was conducted at 600 °C for 90 min, resulting in pyrolysis oil with a density of 992.8 kg/m³, a viscosity of 31.21 cSt, a calorific value of 40.63 MJ/kg, and a flash point of 36 °C. Additionally, the oil contained 21.18% phenol compounds. The remaining material from the process, including char, constituted 54% of the original spent bleaching earth mass. These results demonstrate the feasibility of using pyrolysis to convert into a valuable liquid fuel, offering a sustainable approach to manage this hazardous industrial waste while producing energy-rich byproducts. This study underscores the potential of pyrolysis as a waste-to-energy solution and a safer alternative to traditional disposal methods for Spent Bleaching Earth.

Abstract

This research aims to synthesize chitosan-graphene oxide (chitosan-GO) material using the hydrothermal method at varying material ratios and adsorption studies on Congo red. Chitosan-GO composites were synthesized with mass ratios of (1:1), (1:3) and (1:5). The synthesized chitosan-GO composite was applied to absorb Congo red dye. The adsorption process is carried out by varying pH, contact time, concentration and temperature. The chitosan-GO composite was characterized using XRD, BET and SEM-EDS. The results of XRD characterization of the chitosan-GO composite with a ratio of 1:1 showed a diffractogram of 2θ = 22.3°, at a ratio of 1:3 the diffractogram angle was 2θ = 22.1°, while the ratio (1:5) of the diffractogram peak obtained was 2θ = 22.8°. The surface area obtained in chitosan-GO composite was 11.60 m2/g. The morphology of the chitosan-GO composite (1:5) is in the form of crystalline lumps with the constituent elements C (65.98%), O (32.68%), Na (0.22%) and S (0.09%). Adsorption of Congo red dye using chitosan-GO composite obtained optimum conditions at pH 7, contact time 50 minutes, Congo red concentration 45 mg/L and temperature 50°C. The adsorption isotherm is in accordance with the Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum adsorption capacity (Qm) is 10.245 mg/g.
