Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengembangkan materi Bahasa Inggris yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas X Jurusan Keperawatan di SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan; (2) mengidentifikasi desain materi Bahasa Inggris; dan menentukan (3) kualitas materi Bahasa Inggris yang dikembangkan berdasarkan kriteria dari materi ESP yang baik dan kriteria e-learning yang baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada desain penelitian dan pengembangan oleh Lee & Owens (2004). Desain ini meliputi: need analysis, design dan development. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, rekaman, interview, dan uji ahli. Data yang didapatkan dari hasil observasi, rekaman dan interview selama proses need analysis, telah dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan data yang didapatkan dari hasil uji ahli, dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan mengikuti rumus dari Candiasa (2010). Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; (1) siswa kelas X Jurusan Keperawatan membutuhkan materi Bahasa Inggris yang spesifik sesuai dengan target pekerjaan yang mereka lakukan di masa depan; (2) materi Bahasa Inggris telah didesain menjadi beberapa unit, yaitu: General Assessment, Handling Patients, Patient’s Hygiene, Checking Vital Signs, dan Dimensions of Symptom; (3) dari hasil uji ahli yang berdasarkan dengan kriteria materi ESP yang baik dan kriteria e-learning yang baik, materi yang dikembangkan tergolong sangat bagus. Kata Kunci : need analysis, e-learning, materi bahasa inggris, R&D This study was a research and development (R&D) was aimed at (1) developing English learning material that are needed by the tenth grade of Nursing Department students at SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan; (2) describing the design of English learning material; and finding out (3) the quality of the developed material based on the criteria of good ESP material and good e-learning. This study followed the R&D design by Lee and Owens. This design involves: need analysis, design, and development. This study was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan, the subjects of the study being the tenth grade of Nursing Department students. The data were collected through observation, recording, interview, and expert judgment. The data from the result of observation, interview and recording during the need analysis process were analyzed descriptively; the data from expert judge were analyzed quantitatively. The result of this study shows that: (1) the tenth grade of Nursing Department students need specific English materials that are related to their future job. The existing syllabus and material did not cover their needs; (2) the materials were designed into some unit based on the data gathered from the need analysis. Those units are: General Assessment, Handling Patients, Patient’s Hygiene, Checking Vital Signs, and Dimensions of Symptom; (3) from the result of the expert judgment based on the criteria of good ESP material and good e-learning material, the developed material was categorized into an excellent material.keyword : need analysis, e-learning, English learning material, R&D

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tiga tujuan. Yang pertama adalah untuk menyelidiki tingkat kesiapan siswa kelas 11 SMA N 4 Singaraja terhadap pelaksanaan e-learning. Yang kedua adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kompetensi menulis siswa kelas XI SMA N 4 Singaraja setelah menggunakan project based-flipped learning. Dan yang ketiga adalah mengamati persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran project based-flipped learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Explanatory Sequential Mix Method Design. Populasi adalah siswa kelas XI SMA N 4 Singaraja. Dua kelas digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian baik, dimana kelompok eksperiment diberikan pembelajaran berbasis project based-flipped learning dan kelompok control diberikan pembelajaran berbasis conventional teaching. Data kuantitatif yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan SPSS 22.0. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas XI SMA N 4 Singaraja siap melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis e-learning. Selain itu, hasil analisis data kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen lebih baik daripada siswa dalam kelompok kontrol. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan hasil analisis statistik deskriptif yang menunjukkan skor rata-rata kelompok eksperimen yaitu 79,75 sedangkan skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 73,10. Hasil uji-t juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-observation (tobs) adalah 3,465 dan nilai t-critical value (tcv) adalah 2,024. Ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kompetensi menulis siswa antara siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan media konvensional. Selain itu, hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi positif terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis project-based flipped learning.Kata Kunci : Kesiapan terhadap penggunaan e-learning, pembelajaran berbasis project-based flipped learning, kompetensi menulis, persepsi terhadap project-based flipped learning. This present study had three aims. The first was to investigate the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 4 Singaraja readiness level of the implementation of e-learning. The second was to determine whether there is a significant difference on writing competence of the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 4 Singaraja after the implementation of Project based-flipped learning. And the third was to observe students’ perception toward the implementation of project-based flipped learning. The research design of this study was explanatory sequential mixed methods design. The population was the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 4 Singaraja. Two classes were used as the sample of this study. One class was assigned to the experimental group and treated by using project based-flipped learning. Meanwhile, the other class was assigned to the control group and treated by using conventional teaching. The quantitative data that collected in this study were analyzed by SPSS 22.0. The result of the data analysis showed that the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 4 Singaraja are ready for the implementation of e-learning. Besides, the result of the quantitative data analysis it showed the experimental group performed better than the students in control group. It was proven by the result of a descriptive statistical analysis that showed the mean score of the experimental group was 79.75 while the mean score of the control group was 73.10. The result of the t-test also showed that the value of t-observed (tobs) was 3.465 and the value of t-critical value (tcv) was 2.024. It showed that the value of tobs was higher than the value of tcv. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant difference on students writing competency between students taught by using Project based-learning and students taught by using conventional media. Abstract

Perkembangan mobile technology telah mempengaruhi setiap aspek kehidupan manusia. Penggunaan mobile technology seperti smartphone dan tablet dalam pendidikan akan mengatasi masalah keterbatasan kesempatan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris di negara-negara dimana bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa asing. Dengan menggunakan smartphone, siswa dapat mengakses informasi dan mengembangkan informasi tersebut kapanpun dan dimanapun serta membentuk komunitas belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa kelas sepuluh terhadap penggunaan smartphone dalam belajar bahasa Inggris (Mobile Assisted Language Learning/MALL) dan membandingkan persepsi antara siswa yang mempunyai smartphone dengan siswa yang tidak memiliki smartphone di kabupaten Buleleng. 174 siswa di enam sekolah di kabupaten Buleleng digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian. Kuisioner di Unified Theory of Accept and Use Technology (UTAUT) dikembangkan dan digunakan sebagai instrument dalam mengumpulkan data. Persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan smartphone dalam belajar bahasa Inggris di pengaruhi oleh tiga dimensi yaitu Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, dan Social Influence. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa kelas sepuluh di kabupaten Buleleng mempunyai persepsi yang positif terhadapa penggunaan smartphone dalam belajar bahasa Inggis. Siswa yang mempunyai smartphone cendrung mempunyai persepsi yang lebih positif dari pada siswa yang tidak mempunyai gadget. Dalam penelitian ini, Performance Expectancy adalah factor yang paling kuat dalam menentukan persepsi siswa. Jadi dapat diimplikasikan bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Inggris harus lebih sering mengintegrasikan penggunaan smartphone untuk meningkatkan fungsi dari smartphone dalam mendukung pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. The characteristics of today’s mobile technology (Smartphone) which are wireless, personal, networking, and ubiquitous have influence every aspect of human life. Using mobile technology in learning would decrease learning English problems in EFL setting, including lack of opportunity to learn. By using Smartphone, the learners could access information and develop it across space and connected to the others. This study aimed at investigating tenth grades students’ perception toward Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) in learning English and comparing the perception between the students who had mobile technology and the students who had no mobile technology in Buleleng regency. This study was quantitative research design which employed Cross-sectional survey as the method. The study involved 174 tenth grades students in six schools in Buleleng regency. The questionnaire on Unified Theory of Accept and Use Technology (UTAUT) was developed and used as instrument of collecting data in this study. The students’ perception toward MALL respected to three dimensions of UTAUT theory (Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence). As the result, tenth grades students in Buleleng regency had positive perception toward MALL in learning English. Students who had mobile technology tend to have more positive perception rather than students who had no mobile technology. This study also confirmed that Performance Expectancy was the stronger factor of students’ perception on MALL in learning English. Thus, MALL should be integrated in learning English process since it is perceived to be useful in students’ performance in learning English. keyword : Perception, Mobile technology, m-learning, MALL, UTAUT.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menginvestigasi persepsi guru bahasa Inggris sekolah menengah terhadap penggunaan Flipped Learning di Kabupaten Buleleng, (2) menyelidiki masalah yang dihadapi guru selama menerapkan Flipped Learning, dan (3) mengevaluasi solusi yang guru lakukan untuk memecahkan masalah penggunaan Flipped Learning. Penelitian ini merupakan rancangan penelitian metode campuran yang menggunakan survei cross-sectional sebagai metode. Dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposif, diketahui empat guru bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah yang telah sedang menerapkan Flipped Learning dalam pengajaran mereka. Mereka berasal dari tiga sekolah menengah negeri di Kabupaten Buleleng. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner dan panduan wawancara sebagai instrumen yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data kuesioner tersebut diolah dengan menghitung skor rata-rata untuk mengetahui tingkat kualifikasi masing-masing persepsi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa persepsi guru sangat positif terhadap penggunaan Flipped Learning, dibuktikan dengan skor rata-rata 81.25 yang dikategorikan sangat tinggi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Flipped Learning sangat dianjurkan untuk diimplementasikan dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : Persepsi, Flipped Learning, ELT This study is aimed at (1) investigating the perception of secondary school English teachers’ perception towards the use of Flipped Learning in Buleleng regency, (2) observing the problems that the teachers encountered during implementing Flipped Learning, and (3) evaluating the solutions that the teachers do to solve the problems. This study was a mixed-method research design which used cross-sectional survey as the method. Purposive sampling was employed to four secondary English teachers who apply Flipped Learning. They came from three public secondary schools in Buleleng regency. This study used a questionnaire and an interview guide as instruments which had been tested for its validity and reliability. The data from the questionnaires were processed by using Arithmetic Statistics in Microsoft Office Excel to calculate the mean score in order to know the qualification level of each perception. The results of data analysis indicated that most of teachers corresponded to very positive perception on the use of Flipped Learning since the mean score was 81.25 which categorized to very high category. The results imply that Flipped Learning is highly recommended to be implemented in the English teaching and learning process.keyword : Perception, Flipped Learning, ELT.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui keefektifan dari strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan experiment dengan design post – test. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja yang dimana populasi dari penelitian ini adalah kelas delapan tahun ajaran 2017/2018 di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Sample dari penelitian ini berjumlah 73 siswa yang diambil menggunakan random sampling. Data dari penelitian ini diambil dengan tes pemahaman membaca yang diberikan kepada siswa dalam bentuk objectives test. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji – T di SPSS 24. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together efektif digunakan dalam pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Hasil dari uji – T yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan SPSS 24 menunjukan nilai signifikansi 0.027. Nilai tersebut kurang dari 0.05. Dalam uji effect size keefektifan dari strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together dikategorikan medium dengan nilai 0.5. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together efektif digunakan pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan yang dikategorikan medium.Kata Kunci : numbered heads together, pemahaman membaca, strategi recirpcal questioning This study was aimed at investigating whether there is a significant effect of reciprocal questioning strategy combined with numbered heads together on reading comprehension of the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. This study was an experimental study. The design of this study was post – test only control group design. This study was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. The population of this study was the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja in academic year 2017/2018 with the sample of 73 students who were selected by using random sampling. The data were collected using reading comprehension test which given to the students in the form of objectives test. The data were analyzed by using independent samples test assisted with SPSS 24. The result showed that there is an effect of reciprocal questioning strategy combined with numbered heads together on reading comprehension of the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. The result of independent samples test shows significant value was 0.027. It did not exceed 0.05. In effect size analysis, the result was 0.5. It is categorized as medium. Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan, yaitu (1) melihat perbedaan level dari keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dari siswa kelas XI SMA N 1 Singaraja setelah penerapan Gamified-based LMS dan mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap penerapan gamified-based LMS. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Experimental Research Design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI di SMA N 1 Singaraja. Hasil penelitian secara kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa grup eksperimental menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik daripada grup control. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil analisis deskriptif yang menunjukkan rata rata level keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajarn lebih besar (88.40) dibandingkan dengan grup control (79.60). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed lebih tingi (5.309) dari nilai t-critical value (2.009). Maka dari itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari level keterlibatan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan Gamified-based LMS dan pembelajaran konvensional. Selain itu, peneliti juga menemukan bahwa kelas eksperimental dikategorikan sebagai engaged class sedangkan kelas kontrol dikategorikan sebagai well-manage class. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa membangun keterlibatannya di dalam kelas dengan tertarik terhadap pembelajaran, ikut berpartisipasi di dalam setiap kegiatan, dan mau mengerjakan tugas. Sebelum melakukan eksperimen, disarankan untuk mempersiapkan aktivitas yg baik, koneksi internet yg bagus dan sosialisasi mengenai teknologi yang digunakan.Kata Kunci : blended Learning, Learning Management System (LMS), gamification, gamified-LMS, keterlibatan dalam pembelajaran, persepsi This study had a purpose to determine whether there is a significant difference on learning engagement level of the eleventh-grade students in SMA N 1 Singaraja after the implementation of Gamified-based LMS. The research design used in this study was experimental research design. The population was the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 1 Singaraja. The result of the quantitative data analysis showed the experimental group performed better than the students in control group. It was proven by the result of a descriptive statistical analysis that showed the mean score of the experimental group was higher (88.40) control group (79.60). It is also proven by the value of t-observed was higher (5.309) than the value of t-critical value (2.009). It can be concluded that there was a significant difference on students’ level of learning engagement between students taught by using gamified-based LMS and students taught by using conventional media.Considerations are the well-planned activity, a good Internet connection and familiarity of technology suggested before starting the teaching and learning process.keyword : blended learning, gamification, learning engagement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi kesiapan E-learning guru terhadap implementasi E-learning dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di empat sekolah negeri di Singaraja, Bali, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan explanatory sequential design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah 21 Guru di SMA N 1 Singaraja, SMA N 2 Singaraja, SMA N 3 Singaraja, and SMA N 4 Singaraja. Jumlah sampel dalam peneltitian adalah 20 guru Bahasa Inggri. Pengumpulan data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner E-learning (ERQ) dan wawancara. Kuesioner tersebut diadaptasi oleh teori kesiapan E-learning dari Akaslan dan Law, data yang diperoleh dialalisis menggunakan SPSS 24.0, dan hasilnya diinterpretasikan dengan menggunakan metode penilaian kesiapan E-learning dari Aydin dan Tasci. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kesiapan guru Bahasa Inggris secara keseluruhan adalah 3.99 dari 5.00. Sedangkan, level terendah kesiapan yang diharapkan adalah 3.40. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris sudah siap terhadap pengaplikasian E-leaning, namun membutuhkan beberapa penyempurnaan. Dilihat dari hasil sub-komponen kesiapan E-learning guru, skor rata-rata tertinggi yaitu mengenai pengalaman guru terhadap penggunaan teknologi, yakni sebesar 4.50. sedangkan skor rata-rata terendah guru adalah persepsi mereka terhadap kemudahan penggunaan smartphone, yakni sebesar 3.30. Kemudian, wawancara tersebut digunakan untuk mendukung data yang telah diperoleh dari kuesioner.Kata Kunci : E-learning, kesiapan E-learning, kesiapan guru This research aimed to investigate the teachers’ E-learning readiness toward the implementation of E-learning in English subject in public senior high schools. To achieve the air, the researcher used explanatory sequential design. The population were 21 teachers of SMA N 1 Singaraja, SMA N 2 Singaraja, SMA N 3 Singaraja, and SMA N 4 Singaraja. 20 English teachers were selected as the sample to gain quantitative data of this research. The data collection was gained quantitatively through E-learning readiness questionnaire (ERQ) and qualitatively through interview. The questionnaire was adapted from the E-learning readiness theory proposed by Akaslan and Law, the data gained was analyzed by using SPSS 24.0, and the result of the data analysis was interpreted by using E-learning readiness assessment model by Aydin and Tasci. The result of the questionnaire shows that the grand mean score of the English teachers’ readiness is 3.99 out of 5.00. Whereas, the expected level of readiness (Mo) is 3.40. It implies that the English teachers are ready, but need few improvements in the E-learning implementation. Seen from the sub-components of the teachers’ E-learning readiness, the highest mean score of the teachers is about the experience toward the use of technology (4.50). Meanwhile, the lowest mean score of the teachers is on the perceived ease of use of the smartphone (3.30). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi alasan untuk menggunakan atau tidak menggunakan TIK dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Sebanyak 54 guru dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dengan desain concurrent triangulation. Penelitian ini menggunakan sebuah instrumen, yait kuesioner terbuka. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data kualitatif, baik guru laki-laki maupun perempuan, dan guru dari generasi X maupun Y sadar akan pentingnya TIK dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa inggris juga keterbatasan mereka dalam menggunakan TIK dalam mengajar. Pengembangan lebih lanjut disarankan kepada pemerintah, guru bahasa inggris, dan peneliti lainya untuk meningkatkan penggunaan TIK dalam mengajar. Kata Kunci : TIK, Gender, Umur. This study aimed to identify the reasons implementing or not implementing ICT in the process of English teaching and learning. There were 54 of English teachers employed in this research. This research integrated mix method concurrent triangulation design. There was an instrument used in this research, namely open ended questionnaire. The quantitative data showed there were differences of ICT use across gender and ages. Based on the qualitative data analysis, both male and female, and, X and Y generations of English teachers seemed to realize the importance of ICT in English teaching and learning, including their limitation in employing ICT in teaching and learning process. Further works suggested for the government, English teachers, and other researchers to improve the number of ICT integration in teaching.keyword : ICT, Gender, Ages

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki persepsi murid terhadap penggunaan augmented reality sebagai media belajar dalam konteks bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, persepsi guru terhadap penggunaan augmented reality sebagai media belajar dalam konteks bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, sudut pandang murid terhadap kelebihan dan kekurangan augmented reality sebagai media belajar dalam konteks bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, sudut pandang guru terhadap kelebihan dan kekurangan augmented reality sebagai media belajar dalam konteks bahasa Inggris sebagai bbahasa asing. Penelitian ini menggunakan explanatory sequential mixed methods dengan 32 murid kelas 7 smp negeri 1 sukasada. Data dari penelitiain ini dikumpulkan melalui angket dan wawancara. Angket terdiri dari 28 item pernyataan dengan dimensi yang berbeda. Wawancara terdiri dari 5 pertanyaan. Data dari penelitian ini dianalisa secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa persepsi murid terhadap augmented reality menunjukkan mean skor yang tinggi dan tergolong sangat positive. Lebih lanjut lagi, murid berpendapat bahwa augmented reality membantu mereka dalam membayangkan konteks. Disisi lain, mereka juga membutuhkan bantuan dan bimbingan dari guru. Dari sudut pandang guru, augmented reality menunjukkan mean scor yang tinggi dan tergolong sangat positive. Guru berpendapat bahwa augmented reality meningkatkan motivasi murid dalam belajar Bahasa. Berbeda dengan hal tersebut, penggunaan media augmented reality tergolong sulit untuk murid yang tidak terbiasa dengan teknologi. Bisa disimpulkan jika perkembangan media teknologi didalam Pendidikan memberikan kelebihan dan kekurangan untuk pihak murid dan juga guru dan juga perlunya penelitian kedepannya untuk mengetahui kecocokannya untuk digunakan dikelas.Kata Kunci : persepsi, augmented reality, murid kelas 7 ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate students’ perception of the use of augmented reality as learning media in English as foreign language context, teachers’ perception of the use of augmented reality as learning media in English as foreign language context, students’ point of view on advantages and disadvantages of augmented reality as learning media in English as foreign language context, teachers’ point of view on advantages and disadvantages of augmented reality as learning media in English as foreign language context. This study employed explanatory sequential mixed methods with 31 students from grades 7th students of SMP Negeri 1 Sukasada. Data of this study were collected through questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire consisted of 28 item statements on different dimensions. The interview consisted of 5 questions. Data of this study were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this study showed that students’ perception of the augmented reality has very high means score and the qualification was very positive. Furthermore, The students perceived that augmented reality helps them in imagining the context. On the other hand, they also need help and guidance from the teacher. From the teachers’ point of view, augmented reality has very high means score and the qualification was very positive. Teachers perceived augmented reality increases the students' motivation in language learning. In contrast with it, using augmented reality material was difficult for students whose not used to technology. It can be concluded that the growth of technology media in education gives advantages and disadvantages for both students and teachers and need to be investigated in the future to check its relevance to be used in the classroom. keyword : perception, augmented reality, 7th grades students.
