Abstract

This study aims to analyze the physics science literacy and self-regulated learning of high school students in three sub-districts in East Lombok and their relationship. The research uses a descriptive quantitative method. Quantitative data were obtained through a physics science literacy test and a self-regulated learning questionnaire. A total of 91 students were selected using stratified random sampling. The results show that students' physics science literacy is at a moderate level with an average score of 49 (range 39–77). In terms of self-regulated learning, 38% of students were in the moderate category (score 36–54), and 2% were in the low category (score 18–35). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between physics science literacy and self-regulated learning, with a weak to moderate strength (r = 0.17–0.43; p < 0.05). Factors influencing both include the suboptimal use of learning materials, weak study habits, lack of parental support, and the ineffective implementation of self-regulated learning strategies. In conclusion, collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents is needed to create an environment that supports the improvement of science literacy and self-regulated learning among students.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of illustrated science storybooks in enhancing primary pupils’ reading interest within the Indonesian educational context. Responding to global concerns regarding declining reading motivation among young learners, the research explored how multimodal storybooks that integrate visual, narrative, and scientific elements may foster both cognitive engagement and emotional enjoyment. A Sequential Explanatory Mixed-Methods approach was applied with 17 third-grade pupils in Bali. The quantitative results demonstrated a substantial and statistically significant improvement in reading interest, with the mean score increasing from 51.10 to 78.40 (p < .001), indicating consistent gains across all motivational dimensions. Qualitative findings supported these results, revealing heightened curiosity, sustained emotional and cognitive engagement, and increased persistence in independent reading. Collectively, the findings suggest that illustrated science storybooks not only enhance motivation but also stimulate deeper engagement with science-related texts. The study contributes to theoretical understandings of Multimodal Learning and Self-Determination Theory and offers practical guidance for integrating illustrated storybooks into literacy and science instruction to promote scientific curiosity and sustained reading habits among primary pupils.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of innovative pedagogical strategies on enhancing entrepreneurial motivation among high school students in Denpasar, Indonesia. Recognizing the role of entrepreneurship education in fostering creative, independent, and adaptive learners, this research focuses on two innovative approaches: Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning. Using a quantitative, ex post facto design, data were collected from 99 students who had completed entrepreneurship courses using a validated Likert-scale questionnaire. Analysis using simple linear regression revealed that pedagogical strategies accounted for 20.2 per cent of the variance in entrepreneurial motivation, including intrinsic factors such as passion and autonomy, as well as extrinsic factors such as social recognition and financial independence. The study demonstrates that participatory, context-based learning significantly boosts students' entrepreneurial drive and engagement. The findings contribute to educational science by highlighting how innovative teaching methods not only enhance academic performance but also cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets among high school students, offering practical recommendations for curriculum development and policy-making in entrepreneurship education.

Abstract

Emergency online learning has transformed today’s learning while opening up opportunities and challenges, one of which is learning approach. This study aims to investigate students’ learning approach in the English Education study program in emergency online learning. A mixed-method was employed using two instruments; R-SPQ-2F questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results of the instrument check showed that the R-SPQ-2F survey and interview guide were valid (.90) and reliable (α=.88). Calculated using Slovin formula, there were 302 respondents for this study. The survey data were analysed using R-SPQ-2F mean score analysis and interview data were with interactive model analysis. The results of the study indicate that the learning approach of students in the English education study program in the context of emergency learning tends to be deep. The interview results provide important information that the student approach is influenced by several supporting and inhibiting factors. This shows that the student learning approach is dynamic in adjusting to learning process. Policy makers, lecturers, and students need to consider aspects of this learning approach in the current emergency online situation for a more effective and meaningful learning process.

Abstract

Existing studies on AI literacy have largely focused on students, leaving EFL teacher preparedness underexplored. This study aims to explore the level, determinants, barriers, and recommended solutions regarding AI literacy and EFL teachers’ readiness. Using the SLR method with PRISMA guidelines and Lame’s (2019) framework, this synthesized six empirical articles published between 2022 and 2025 from the Google Scholar database. The findings report that AI literacy and EFL teachers’ readiness are classified at a moderate level. The majority of determinants include internal and external factors. Next, this study identified significant barriers such as limited infrastructure, lack of professional development training, ethical concerns, and AI anxiety. To address these challenges, recommended strategies include continuous professional development based on the AI-TPACK framework, the formulation of clear institutional ethics policies, and the adoption of peer mentoring models. Ultimately, there is a strong positive correlation between AI literacy and teacher preparedness. This study provides a foundational framework to assist educational institutions in designing future-ready professional competency standards for EFL educators.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has influenced English language learning practices, particularly through the integration of ChatGPT as a learning support tool. This study investigates students’ perceptions of ChatGPT’s usability and explores their learning experiences when using the tool in the English Language Education Study Program. The population consisted of 941 undergraduate students enrolled in the program. Using simple random sampling and Slovin’s formula with a 10% margin of error, 90 students were selected as research participants. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed. Participants used the free version of ChatGPT (GPT-3.5) for one academic semester to support tasks such as writing assignments, idea development, grammar checking, and understanding linguistic concepts. Its use was integrated into coursework and guided by lecturers to promote critical and responsible engagement. Quantitative data were collected using the System Usability Scale (SUS), while qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with four purposively selected students to gain deeper insight into their experiences. Descriptive analysis revealed an average SUS score of 63, indicating marginal usability. This suggests that although ChatGPT is perceived as beneficial, its usability has not yet reached an optimal level for academic purposes. Interview findings indicated that participants described generally positive learning experiences, including increased confidence, reduced anxiety, and assistance in developing writing skills. However, these qualitative insights reflect individual perspectives and do not constitute a measured level of enjoyment across the broader sample. Several challenges were identified, including occasional inaccuracies, overly general responses, and the potential for overreliance without adequate pedagogical supervision.
