Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the best classification and composition of paving blocks with the addition of disposable diaper waste, evaluated based on the compressive strength and water absorption of the paving blocks according to SNI 03-0691-1996. The study also examines the effect of varying amounts of disposable diaper waste on the compressive strength and water absorption tests, and compares the quality of paving blocks made with disposable diaper waste to commercial paving blocks. The research method used is an experimental approach with a quantitative approach. The materials used for producing the paving blocks include cement, sand, water, disposable diaper waste, and the additive Naphthalene Formaldehyde Sulfonate. Samples were tested to determine the relationship between the physical and mechanical properties with the material composition, in accordance with the quality of the paving blocks produced based on SNI 03-0691-1996. Based on this study, the optimal composition for compressive strength is the addition of 10 grams of disposable diaper waste, which resulted in a compressive strength of 36.76 MPa, meeting the SNI 03-0691-1996 standard quality A. For water absorption, the best composition is the addition of 5 grams of disposable diaper waste, showing the lowest water absorption of 1.41%, also meeting the standard quality A. Abstract

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) occurs during the luteal phase, causing symptoms like physical discomfort, emotional instability, and behavioral changes that disrupt daily activities, particularly affecting adolescents' psychological well-being. This case study examines Ms. K's psychological condition during PMS, highlighting her unstable mood and irritability. Addressing her psychological symptoms involved activities to improve her mood and consuming chocolate, which contains antioxidants with potential medical and psychological benefits. The study aims to explore the effectiveness of these interventions. Findings suggest that mood-enhancing activities and chocolate consumption can alleviate psychological distress during PMS, offering practical implications for managing PMS-related psychological disorders.

Abstract

Until now, dysmenorrhea is still a frightening threat for women, especially young women, when they are approaching menstruation. Pain that occurs during menstruation is a result of excessive uterine contractions caused by the hormone prostaglandin. One non-pharmacological method used to reduce the intensity of pain is by using lavender aromatherapy. Aromatherapy can be given through inhalation or direct application to the skin through massage using inner oil. Aromatherapy is believed to be useful in treating respiratory problems, pain, and mental and emotional problems. The main aim of the research was to see how pain intensity decreased in teenagers before and after being given lavender aromatherapy. This quasi-experimental research used a one group pre-post and post-test approach with samples taken based on purposive sampling according to the specified criteria of 33 people. The results of the Shapiro Wilk test showed that the average pain scale before treatment was 6.52. Then the average pain scale dropped to 4.30 after being given lavender aromatherapy. The calculated Z value is 5.150 and the p-value is 0.000, thus providing significant results that there is an effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on the intensity of menstrual pain in young women at SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. In the future, it is hoped that lavender aromatherapy can continue to develop its properties and benefits for teenagers who have problems with pain during menstruation or related health problems.

Abstract

Selumit Pantai Sub-district in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, is known as a “Drug Village” due to the widespread circulation and trade of narcotics. This community service initiative aimed to instill positive values and improve financial literacy among children at TPA Al-Ma’ruf as a preventive measure against drug abuse. A practical approach fostered emotional engagement between participants and educators, making learning more accessible and enjoyable. The activity was conducted face-to-face on April 29, 2025, at Al-Ma’ruf Mosque and involved 41 children aged 5–14. Evaluation results indicated an improved understanding of basic money management, along with high enthusiasm and active participation. The provision of savings rewards was a positive stimulus to cultivate saving and sharing habits. This program demonstrates that affective-based education combined with financial literacy can effectively shape positive behavior and prevent early exposure to drugs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the effect of education level on employee performance in two work units within the Civil Service and Human Resource Development Agency (BKPSDM), namely the Secretariat Division and the Competency Development Division for Civil Servants. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with the Independent Sample t-Test statistical analysis method to test differences between two data groups. Data was collected through employee performance evaluation instruments and information on the highest level of education attained. The test results indicate that there is no significant difference in the educational level of employees in the two divisions (significance values of 0.120 and 0.117 > 0.05), which statistically, the educational levels of employees are relatively comparable. However, there is a significant difference in employee performance between the two fields (significance value 0.000 < 0.05), with employees in the Secretariat Field showing higher performance compared to employees in the Civil Service Competency Development Field. This finding suggests that employee performance is not solely determined by formal education level but is also influenced by other factors such as work experience, motivation, work environment, and organizational leadership. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for evaluation and consideration in the development of human resource management policies within the BKPSDM environment.

Abstract

This paper presents a sign language recognition system for the Indonesian Sign Language System SIBI using image embeddings combined with a Random Forest classifier. A dataset comprising 5280 images across 24 classes of SIBI alphabet symbols was utilized. Image features were extracted using the Inception V3 image embedding, and classification was performed using Random Forest algorithms. Model evaluation conducted through K-Fold cross-validation demonstrated that the proposed model achieved an accuracy of 59.00%, an F1-Score of 58.80%, a precision of 58.80%, and a recall of 59.00%. While the performance indicates room for improvement, this study lays the groundwork for enhancing sign language recognition systems to support the preservation and broader adoption of SIBI in Indonesia.
