Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of problem based learning to environmental literacy for junior high school in environmental pollution subject. The study of students’ environmental literacy covered three aspects, there were knowledge, attitudes, and cognitive skills. The research methods used quasi-experimental and non-equivalent control group design. The sample of this research was seventh grade students in junior high school consisting of 27 experimental class students and 25 control class students. The instruments used in this study were multiple choice questions for aspects of knowledge and cognitive skills with Jatigede Reservoir as an environmental content, Likert scale questionnaires for attitude aspects, observation sheets of problem based learning syntax and student questionnaire in learning problem based learning. Pre test was given to the experimental and control class before learning begun and post test was given to the experimental and control class after the last learning was held. The results showed that the knowledge aspect showed a significant difference which meant that there was an influence from the results of the treatment given, while the aspect of cognitive attitude and skills did not show a significant difference, which meant there was no influence from the results of the treatment given. The achievement of the syntax of problem based learning is in the category of almost all activities. Students’ responses to the implementation of problem based learning showed an agreed response.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan literasi kuantitatif dan sikap ilmiah siswa melalui implementasi pendekatan pembelajaran konstruktivisme pada materi pencemaran lingkungan, serta pengembangan rancangan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme yang mengembangkan kemampuan literasi kuantitatif dan sikap ilmiah siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experiment dengan desain The Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design yang dilaksanakan di salah satu SMA negeri di kota Bandung, Jawa Barat, kelas X tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest dan posttest kemampuan literasi kuantitatif dalam bentuk soal uraian, angket sikap ilmiah siswa, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, serta angket tanggapan guru dan siswa. Teknis analisis data menggunakan program IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Hasil analisis penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme berjalan sesuai dengan tahapan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, peningkatan kemampuan literasi kuantitatif dan sikap ilmiah siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme ditunjukkan oleh rata-rata N-Gain yang diperoleh yaitu 0,491 kategori sedang untuk peningkatan kemampuan literasi kuantitatif dan N-Gain 0,290 kategori rendah untuk peningkatan sikap ilmiah siswa. Hasilnya dapat diperoleh adanya perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan literasi kuatitatif siswa yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme pada materi pencemaran lingkungan, sedangkan pada sikap ilmiah siswa juga dapat diperoleh perbedaan peningkatan yang tidak signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan konstruktivisme pada umumnya baik dan positif. Keywords:        pendekatan konstruktivisme, kemampuan literasi kuantitatif, sikap ilmiah, pencemaran lingkungan

Abstract

Abstract - This research is conducted because of the limited information of mangrove forest in Parit Belida and the damage caused by the lack of society awarness. Based on the preliminary research, those are due to the irrelevant prior knowledge  and information transfer. Mangrove forest in Parit Belida provides facts on the ground and biological object materials which are relevant with the topic of ecosystem. It has various plants and animals with special morphology, various types of adaptation, and the physical characteristics of the mangrove forest itself.  However those can not be directly applied to the learning process. It needs to be processed into functional materials which allows the students to understand the concept of the fact presented in the teaching materials. The R&D method was used to obtain teaching material  initiated with preliminary study, composing draft, development, validation and program implementation. As Curriculum 2013 said that teaching learning process should develop character education and scientific approach for students, the concept and the attitude of the students towards the awarness of mangrove forests can be improved by involving them actively and innovatively. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dalam bidang pendidikan disatu sisi  mempermudah dan mempercepat arus informasi dan materi pembelajaran, tetapi disisi lain mengeliminasi berbagai kompetensi psikomotorik dan logika berfikir bahkan berpengaruh kuat terhadap kontruksi karakter.   Perlu adanya kajian  untuk mengadaptasi, menerapkan dan mensiasati  pemilihan strategi dan media yang tepat dalam meningkatkan kualitas proses belajar sehingga mampu mengembangkan kompetensi untuk abad 21. Ketika kekuatan teknologi semakin tidak dapat dibendung, praktikum merupakan benteng terakhir yang mampu mengontruksi kompetensi berkarakter.

Abstract

Masih rendahnya hasil belajar mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi dalam Mata Kuliah Ekologi Tumbuhan masih belum memuaskan. Karakteristik mata kuliah Ekologi Tumbuhan yang terkait dengan cabang ilmu lainnya menuntut mahasiswa menggunakan konsep-konsep cabang ilmu lainnya dalam mempelajari ekologi. Karakteristik tersebut menyebabkan tidak semua mahasiswa dapat memahami konsep ekologi dengan mudah. Diperkirakan apabila difasilitasi dengan metode yang memungkinkan mahasiswa menggunakan dan menghubungkan banyak konsep dapat membantu mahasiswa memahami konsep ekologi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode action research dalam dua siklus . Penerapan metode Pemecahan Masalah yaitu dengan mendisain praktikum sedemikian rupa sehingga masing-masing topik praktikum menjadi suatu masalah yang dipecahkan melalui observasi/penelitian sederhana diharapkan dapat mengoptimasi kemampuan mahasiswa karena sifat materi mata kuliah bersifat interdisipliner (melibatkan banyak konsep biologi lainnya) dan terkait dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, selain itu juga pelaksanaan praktikum menjadi menarik, tidak membosankan. Pelaksanaan praktikum di luar kelas, dengan tempat yang terpisah, menggunakan Tutor sebaya yang dipilih dengan kualifikasi tertentu yang berperan sebagai katalisator, dinamisator, dan motivator dalam kerja kelompok sehingga pembelajaran lebih efektif. Hasil belajar mahasiswa menunjukkan rerata nilai tes awal = 13,16; nilai tes pertama = 78,81 dan nilai tes kedua = 68,68. Meskipun sudah ada peningkatan hasil belajar, namun masih perlu ditindaklanjuti dengan penelitian lain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ingin mengungkapkan profil kemampuan berhipotesis mahasiswa FPMIPA sebagai suatu ketrampilan proses terpadu; serta kaitannya dengan pola berpikir (deduktif-induktif), dan dengan tingkat berpikir (formal, formal awal, transisi, konkret). Menggunakan Tes Kemampuan Perumusan Hipotesis Format Uraian TKPH-U dan Format Pilihan TKPH-P, serta Tes Kemampuan Penalaran TKP yang  sudah divalidasi, dijaring kemampuan berhipotesis dan kemampuan penalaran mahasiswa FPMIPA IKIP Bandung angkatan 1987 n= 85 . Disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berhipotesis mahasiswa kurang berkembang, walaupun tingkat berpikir sebagian besar mahasiswa sudah formal. Adanya temuan tentang kemampuan nalar dan berhipotesis calon guru matematika dan calon guru sains yang tidak berbeda memperkuat temuan keseluruhan bahwa ada korelasi positif antara kemampuan berpikir operasi formal dengan kemampuan berbahasa.AbstractThe study on hipothesizig skills was carried out to provide some description  student teacher's  competency as one of the integrated process skills, and also its  relationship to reasoning abilities and to their level of thinking sets of validated instruments (TKPH-Uand TKPH-P;TKP)  and was applying them to 85 fourth year students of  FPMIPA-IKIPBandung, The result shoWithat while most student were in  formal operational  stage, their  hypothesizing skills had not been developed. Maths student ability  was not significantly different from  sciencestudents'. The findings strong relationship between languageand formal operational thinking abilities.

Abstract

The result of evaluation on the Plant Ecology for student of Biological education was still low. It indicated that the learning process of this subject was not efective enough. Therefore, it has to be though, how to conduct this learning process of Plant Ecology learning effectively.The first step of  Plant Ecology learning was selecting some student to be peer tuturs, then giving them instruction the practical exercise was carrying out by using peer tutors on learning concepts of each the practical topics. The method of practical exercise was small research, designing each topic of practical exercise as simple research. This method was  expected to optimize the student ability.The study reavealed that the learning in practical exercise with peer tutor  increasing the result of evaluation. It is shown that average of final test was 69.96 higher than primary test (48.8). The increasing result of evaluation is conducted with student motivation, whole activities of teacher and students. Peer tutors can be played as catalysator, dinamysator and motivator on groupe; small research  made the learning process more interested, so the learning became more effectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze students’ scientific explanation on the human digestive systems topic using explanation-oriented lesson-design model. This research was conducted with a descriptive research design, a total of 29 eighth grade students from a junior high school in Tasikmalaya were involved in this research. Samples were taken using a convenience sampling technique. The scientific explanation observed was written causal explanation. This research data was collected using test, observation and interview method. The result of this research indicates that the number of students who have scientific explanation ability in intermediate category was 66% (n = 19), basic category was 31% (n = 9), and the advanced category was 3% (n = 1). Therefore, it can be concluded that most of the abilitiy of eighth grade students’ scientific explanation were intermediate category. Overall, students could make the components of scientific explanataion referred to this research. However, the components explaining a phenomenon, most students can only explain a phenomenon using patterns that are commonly observed. In addition, the components explain the patterns in the data and processes that support the occurence of a phenomenon, most students explain the patterns and processes that support the occurence of the phenomenon with spesific, but not detailed. In addition, the components connect data patterns and processes using principles, theories, or disciplinary core ideas, most student connect data patterns and processes using principles by including relevant concepts that are logically, specific, but not detailed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze high school students’ collaboration skills in an excretion system virtual lab work about detection of sugar in urine. This study also revealed students’ responses regarding virtual lab work learning. Research method used here is descriptive method. The study was conducted on 35 students in one class of 11th science grade from a public senior high school in Bandung city, that obtained by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected with non-test instruments in form of observation sheet as the main data source and worksheet, peer assessment sheet, and questionnaire as supporting data sources. Research data were analyzed in addition to getting overview of the overall collaboration skills, but also to get an overview of the collaboration skills within each indicator. The average of overall students’ collaboration skills indicator is 88.9% (very good category). Indicators of Work productively, Contribute actively, Committed to completing group goals, Able to responsible, Appreciate other’s contributions, Able to control emotions, Participate respectfully in discussions, debates, and differences, Trust each group member’s strengths are in very good category, respectively: 90%, 83.3%, 83.3%, 83.3%, 100%, 100%, 99.1% and 98.3%. Meanwhile, indicators of Balance in listening and speaking, and indicators of Able to make group decisions are in good category with percentages of 73.7% and 78.5%. The best collaboration skills indicator in this study is Appreciate other’s contributions and Able to control emotions. Highschool students’ collaboration skills profile in excretion system virtual lab work is generally in very good category, where students able to work productively; many of them contribute actively; able to balance in listening and speaking; they commited to completing group goals; able to responsible; appreciate other’s contributions; able to control emotions; participate respectfully; able to trust each group member’s strengths; and able to make decisions together. In addition, the virtual lab work learning method received a positive response from students, almost all students can feel the benefits in learning, especially to practice their collaboration skills.

Abstract

Penelitian untuk mengevaluasi assosiasi 54 genotip jagung dengan bakteri Azospirillum sp telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Unpad Unit Jatinangor dari bulan Desember 2001 hingga Januari 2002 Penelitian bertujuan mendapatkan genotip-genotip yang tanggap terhadap inokulasi Azospirillum sp dan menyediakan informasi tentang tetua untuk perakitan genotip toleran pupuk N buatan (N-Urea) dosis rendah. Penyaringan genotip yang tanggap terhadap Azospirillum sp. menggunakan rancangan perbesaran (Augmented Design) dan kultivar Wisanggeni sebagai cek. Delapan genotip, yaitu: G23, G25, G26, G27, G38, G41, G50, G52, melebihi cek pada beberapa variable pengamatan sehingga tersaring pada penelitian tersebut. Kedelapan genotip potensial dalam menghemat pupuk N.
