Abstract

Typhoid fever is a chronic disease caused by S. typhi bacterium. This disease can be transmitted via contaminated water or food, and close contact with an infected person. The symptomps of typhoid fever include high fever, stomach pain, headache, and constipation. Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus L.) leaves extract contain active compounds with antibacterial activity. This research aims to determine the inhibitory activity of jackfruit leaves extract against S. typhi. Jackfruit leaves were extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol as solvent. After that, organoleptic test, ethanol-free test and phytochemical screening of extract were carried out. Inhibitory activity of extract was conducted using well diffusion method, followed by determination of MIC and MBC. The results showed that jackfruit leaves extract contained flavonoid, tannins, saponin, and triterpenoid. Inhbitory activity of extract was found at concentration 20% (5.24 mm), 40% (6.78 mm), and concentration 60% (8.08 mm). The MIC value of extract was 12.5%. while the MBC could not be found. According to the results, ethanol extract of jackfruit leaves (70%) have potential compounds to inhibit the growth of S. typhi

Abstract

The paitan plant (Tithonia diversifolia) contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins and phenolics which have the potential to prevent Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This plant also has various insecticidal activities. In society, there are many mentions of the paitan plant, so people need to know the characteristics of this paitan plant. The aim of this research is to determine the morphological characterization and specific fragments of the paitan plant, as well as to determine the activity and effective concentration of the ethanol extract of paitan leaves as a repellent for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Two types of methods were used, namely descriptive qualitative for observing morphology, specific fragments, pollen, and phytochemical screening, and experimental methods for mosquito repellent testing, and calculating the protective power of the ethanol extract of paitan leaves. The results obtained are flowers consisting of two shapes, namely ribbon flowers in the outer circle, infertile, and tube shapes in the inner circle. Stomata are anomocytic type, while trichomes are non-glandular multicellular type. Pollen characteristics, namely small size, colpate, number 3, aperture shaped trizonocolpate with echinate ornamentation. The screening results for the ethanol extract of paitan leaves were positive for containing metabolite compounds, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids and phenolics. The results of the mosquito repellent test showed that the higher the concentration of the extract, the fewer mosquitoes that landed. Calculation of protective power shows that the most effective concentration in repelling mosquitoes is 15%, namely 93.64%. The conclusion is that paitan (Tithonia diversifolia) leaf extract has potential activity as a repellent against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with the most effective concentration being 15%.

Abstract

Probiotics are live microorganisms that are widely used to help maintain a healthy digestive system. Some compounds secreted by these bacteria have a bactericidal effect on pathogenic and putrefactive bacteria. Various types of probiotic bacteria can be obtained from fermented foods and drinks. This research aims to characterize bacteria from rebon shrimp paste in Macajah Village, Tanjung Bumi District, Bangkalan Regency, East Java Province which have potential as probiotics and test their antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria. Bacteria were isolated using the Pour Plate technique using de Man Rogosa Sharpe Agar media. The bacterial isolates were then characterized by observing colony morphology, cells and biochemical properties. Next, antibacterial activity was tested using the well diffusion method. The results showed that the four bacteria obtained from the samples were gram positive, round and rod shaped, catalase negative, homofermentative, grew at a temperature of 37-45°C, survived at NaCl concentrations of 4 and 6.5%, low pH, and bile salts. According to the characterization results, three bacterial isolates belonged to the genus Enterococcus and one other isolate belonged to the genus Bacillus. Bacillus isolate is a potential probiotic candidate, because it has inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Quercetin are the main marker compounds in extracts of Sonchus arvensis which show nephrolithiasis activity. For quality control of herbal medicines, Densitometric Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method has been developed in this study using quercetin as phytochemical markers. Objective: Determination for quercetin in herbal medicines. Determination of quercetin by determining the composition of the mobile phase, the wavelength of the analysis, the saturation time, the elution distance and the volume of the spot. The parameters observed in the optimization method and stability test are area, retardation factor (Rf), peak shape and resolution (Rs). The composition of selected mobile phase which results good separation and symmetrical peak shape is chloroform: methanol: dichloromethane: acetonitrile: formic acid (6: 2: 2: 0.05: 0.05 v/v/v/v/v) with a wavelength of 335 nm, time of saturation is 30 minutes, elution distance is 8 cm, volume of spots is 10 µL and Rf 0.48. In this study, it was shown that there were no factors that had a significant effect so that the method could be applied for the determination of quercetin levels in herbal medicines.The research data showed that the range of levels on quercetin 3.26%.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus through the Aedes aegypti mosquito vector, which is controlled both at the larval and adult stages. The use of chemicals that are difficult to degrade in nature can pollute the environment. The Paitan plant (Tithonia diversifolia) contains secondary metabolite compounds that have the potential to be natural larvicides. This study aims to determine the natural larvicidal activity of Paitan leaf infusion. This study is an experimental study. The results of this study indicate that (1) Paitan leaf infusion contains alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, saponin, phenolic, and tannin compounds. At concentrations of 1.8%, 3.2% and 5.6%, the mortality percentage results were 41.30%, 50.60% and 60% respectively; (2) The administration of Paitan leaf infusion has an effect on morphological damage Aedes aegypti larvae in the thorax, digestive tract and siphon. The content of different metabolite compounds causes different levels of morphological damage at each concentration

Abstract

Senyawa metabolit sekunder rosella memiliki manfaat kesehatan, seperti hipertensi, diabetes, dan penyakit kardiovaskular. Rosella digunakan sebagai bahan minuman kesehatan, karena senyawa aktifnya seperti antosianin, polisakarida, dan flavonoid. Flavonoid dalam rosella diduga memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dalam menangkal radikal bebas penyebab penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat profil fitokimia ekstrak dan fraksi polar kelopak rosella dengan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) dan dilanjutkan menguji kadar total flavonoid serta aktivitas antioksidan dengan DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil). Studi ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan kuantitatif, untuk mendeteksi profil fitokimia dari ekstrak dan fraksi kelopak rosella dilanjutkan uji kadar total flavonoid dan aktivitas antioksidan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) adanya senyawa flavonoid, ditandai bercak warna biru pada plat KLT, (2) uji kadar total flavonoid dari ekstrak menunjukkan sebesar 139,4321 ppm sedangkan fraksi polar 204,8334 ppm, (3) uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak rosella memiliki aktivitas lemah dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 656,4775 ppm, sedangkan fraksi lebih kuat dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 110,1132 ppm. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol dan fraksi polar kelopak rosella diduga memiliki senyawa flavonoid yang berperan sebagai antioksidan namun fraksi lebih kuat dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etanol kelopak rosella.

Abstract

Is the theory of secularization dead? It seems not. The idea of secularization continues to develop and shows that secularization will never occur totally, but it will not be buried into a failed theory. However, since the world today is already in a reality far different from the era of the emerging secularization theory, secularization must be transcended. Nowadays, the world has entered a period of disruption marked by technological progress due to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In this era, there have been significant changes in religious life. This article aims to complement the literature review regarding how religion should play a role in the public sphere in the era of disruption so that the benefits of religion can be felt in real life. Data collection was carried out using literature study techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study indicate that religion does not have to be isolated from the public sphere, so far as the public sphere can be a common space to express the various religions that exist and religion is not only understood as symbolic, but is deeper in understanding the authenticity of religion. One important thing to avoid is the domination of one faith or one religious understanding within religion. The dynamics and dialectics of the various religious identities that exist can become cultural assets to build a better public life. Failure to neutralize the domination of one religion or religious understanding in religion in the public sphere will bring the world back to a dark past, full of wars and violence.

Abstract

This research investigates changes in the Besale ritual tradition, a ceremony aimed at cleansing the soul tainted by malevolent spirits. Initially conducted privately and exclusively for the Suku Anak Dalam, the Besale ritual has now become an open event in the Dwi Karya Bhakti Village, even accessible to the general public. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzing it using the Creswell model. The research findings reveal five main patterns of change in the Besale ritual tradition, involving shifts in the value system, cognitive system, interaction system, institutional system, and behavioral acceptance level. These changes did not occur spontaneously but rather through an interactive process involving various social groups within the Suku Anak Dalam. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the dynamics of cultural and traditional changes in society, shedding light on how social factors and intergroup interactions can influence cultural transformations. These findings can serve as a valuable resource for cultural preservation efforts in various evolving societal contexts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk Mengevaluasi pengakuan pendapatan dan beban berdasarkan PSAK 72 pada CV. Rizky Akbar Construction Ponorogo dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Objek penelitian adalah pengakuan pendapatan dan beban pada CV. Rizky Akbar Construction. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dalam penelitian kualitatif, data diperoleh dari berbagai sumber, dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data yang bermacam-macam (triangulasi), dan dilakukan secara terus menerus sampai datanya jenuh. Hasil penelitian diperoleh pengakuan pendapatan dan beban belum sepenuhnya menerapkan PSAK 72.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of reading interest and learning motivation on the learning achievement of class X students of SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. Sampling in this study used a saturated sampling technique or census, so the number of samples used was equal to the total population, namely 90 respondents, they were students of class X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 90 class X students of SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. The conclusion of this study based on the results of multiple regression analysis shows that there is a positive and significant influence on reading interest and motivation together on the learning achievement of class X sma PGRI 1 Jombang students. The coefficient of determination shows that the influence of interest in reading and learning motivation on the learning achievement of class X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang students was 55.2% while the remaining 44.8% was explained by other variables that were not included in this study. Keywords: Reading interest, motivation, learning achievement  Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh minat baca dan motivasi belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh atau sensus, maka jumlah sampel yang digunakan sama dengan jumlah populasi yaitu 90 responden yang seluruhnya adalah siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebaran kuesioner kepada 90 orang siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. Simpulan penelitian ini didasarkan hasil analisis regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh positif dan signifikan minat baca dan motivasi secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang. Koefisien determinasi menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh minat baca dan motivasi belajar terhadap prestasi belajar siswa kelas X SMA PGRI 1 Jombang sebesar 55,2% sedangkan sisanya 44,8% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak termasuk dalam penelitian ini. Kata kunci: minat baca, motivasi, prestasi belajar
