Abstract

Background: In the Society 5.0 era, higher education institutions face significant challenges in overcoming student passivity and cultivating critical 21st-century skills within foundational courses. Objective: This study aims to investigate the implementation of cooperative learning models driven by audiovisual media in shaping student cognitive engagement and social interaction within university learning ecosystems. Method: Adopting a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, intensive class observations, and focus group discussions involving lecturers and students at Muria Kudus University and PGRI Ronggolawe University, with qualitative analysis executed via the Miles and Huberman framework. Results: The findings demonstrate that integrating audiovisual-driven learning ecosystems—incorporating interactive animations and instructional videos—creates a dynamic, student-centered environment that successfully bridges abstract theoretical concepts with concrete examples. Structured cooperative groups fostered robust individual and group accountability, which substantially enhanced peer communication, high-order critical thinking, and collective problem-solving capabilities among students. Conclusion: The study concludes that the synergy where cooperation meets animation provides a highly effective instructional architecture that optimizes academic learning outcomes, mitigates passivity, and develops vital professional soft skills, positioning it as a robust pedagogical strategy for modern instructional science.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how local wisdom values are interpreted and practiced in educational supervision and their contribution to teacher competency development in schools. The study used a multi-site qualitative case study design involving 12 participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify relational, ethical, cultural, and spiritual patterns in supervisory practices. The results show that supervision is not only understood as an administrative control mechanism but also as a dialogic process built through deliberation, cooperation, trust, respect, and communal solidarity. These values contribute to a more open, reflective, and collaborative professional relationship between teachers, principals, and supervisors. The results of this study expand the study of educational supervision by demonstrating the importance of ethical and relational dimensions based on local wisdom in the practice of supervising educational human resources. This research has implications for educational supervision policies that need to integrate local wisdom values beyond administrative aspects. In school practice, supervision is directed to be dialogic, collaborative, and trust-based. This improves teacher competency holistically by strengthening pedagogical, social, and ethical aspects, thereby creating a more humane and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Abstract

Research on student well-being in Islamic educational settings has primarily focused on psychological, spiritual, and instructional dimensions, while the pedagogical role of environmental aesthetics rooted in Qur’anic teachings remains underexplored. Existing studies have rarely examined how the Qur’anic concept of beauty can be translated into an educational framework that supports student well-being in contemporary Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to conceptualize Qur’anic beauty as a form of environmental pedagogy and examine its contribution to student well-being in Indonesian pesantren. This research employed a qualitative integrative design that combined thematic Qur’anic interpretation (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) based on Tafsīr al-Jalālayn with contextual field research in three Islamic boarding schools. Data were collected through thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses, observations, semi-structured interviews with 22 key informants, and institutional document analysis. The findings reveal that Qur’anic beauty is articulated through concepts such as jamāl, ḥusn, zīnah, sakīnah, mīzān, fiṭrah, and nūr, which are synthesized into six dimensions: visual–aesthetic beauty, moral–social beauty, psychological calmness, harmony and balance, fitrah-based human-centered beauty, and spiritual–illuminative beauty. These dimensions are embedded in physical spaces, social interactions, institutional culture, and spiritual practices within pesantren. Beauty functions not merely as an aesthetic attribute but as a pedagogical mechanism that promotes emotional stability, social security, spiritual resilience, and meaningful learning engagement. This study contributes to Qur’anic and Islamic educational scholarship by developing an environmental pedagogical framework grounded in Qur’anic conceptions of beauty.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of academic supervision in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum as an effort to improve the quality of education at SMPN 5 Pati Regency. Academic supervision has a strategic role in assisting teachers in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reflecting on student-centered learning. In the context of the Merdeka Curriculum implementation, teachers are required to develop flexible, differentiated, contextual learning that is oriented toward strengthening students’ competencies and character. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study included the principal, teachers, and educational staff at SMPN 5 Pati Regency. The findings indicate that academic supervision was carried out through several stages, namely supervision planning, classroom observation, feedback provision, reflection, and follow-up mentoring. Academic supervision conducted in a directed, collaborative, and continuous manner was able to improve teachers’ ability to design teaching materials, implement active learning strategies, use diagnostic and formative assessments, and reflect on the learning process. Therefore, academic supervision serves as an important instrument for improving teacher professionalism and the quality of learning at SMPN 5 Pati Regency. This study recommends strengthening supervision based on mentoring, reflective dialogue, and the development of teacher learning communities as a strategy for sustainable improvement in the quality of education.

Abstract

Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum introduces significant challenges for educators, making their professional well-being vital to successful educational reform. This study examines how principal leadership style and organizational culture impact primary school teachers' job satisfaction during this transition. This study employed a quantitative explanatory survey design. From a population of 123 certified civil-servant primary school teachers in Kudus Regency, a sample of 93 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula (5% margin of error) and selected through proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected via a closed-ended, five-point Likert-scale questionnaire (58 items) administered online, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. Findings reveal both variables positively and significantly influence job satisfaction (R² = 0.541). Notably, organizational culture emerged as a stronger predictor (f² = 0.224) than leadership style (f² = 0.156), suggesting that shared collective values and peer collaboration foster critical emotional resilience among teachers. Ultimately, these results indicate that educational authorities must cultivate inclusive organizational cultures and humanistic leadership to mitigate occupational stress and sustain educators' psychological well-being. It is therefore recommended that education authorities prioritize culture-strengthening programs alongside transformational leadership training for principals, while future research should adopt longitudinal designs and examine factors beyond this model, such as compensation, workload, and intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence has become an unavoidable phenomenon. Likewise, the impact of artificial intelligence in the field of education has become a reality that schools and teachers must confront. Many teachers, particularly social studies teachers, are not yet prepared to cope with the advancement of artificial intelligence in educational processes. This study aims to analyze the attitudes of social studies teachers toward artificial intelligence in education and to examine strategies for empowering social studies teachers in utilizing artificial intelligence. The research method was a qualitative case study conducted with three elementary school teachers in Pati, Central Java, in May 2026. The findings reveal that all teachers participating in the study exhibited resistance toward the integration of artificial intelligence in social studies education. Consequently, an empowerment strategy based on a communicative action approach is required to strengthen teachers' capacity to effectively utilize artificial intelligence in the learning process.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the persistence of the patriarchal system that shapes gender inequality, particularly within the Papuan cultural context represented in the novel Isinga. The objective of this study is to analyze the process of gender reconstruction and the manifestation of cultural radical feminism in overcoming gender injustice through the character Irewa. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive with a feminist literary approach. Data were collected through documentation with interpretive reading and note-taking techniques, and analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that gender reconstruction occurs through three systematic transformation stages: the construction stage (oppression), the transition stage (turning point involving the emergence of critical awareness in the character Irewa), and the realization stage (economic independence and courage in public speaking). Cultural radical feminism is manifested through reclaiming control over the body, rejecting violence, and transforming cultural narratives via the "Ruang Marya" symbol. The study concludes that the novel Isinga serves as an instrument for creating gender justice through profound cultural transformation.

Abstract

Contextual learning is an important aspect of Social Studies (IPS) education. One important element of contextual Social Studies learning is family economic empowerment. This study aims to analyze the integration of family economic empowerment into Social Studies learning in an elementary school in Pacitan Regency, Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with a Social Studies teacher, classroom observations, and analysis of relevant documents and learning materials. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed through triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that family economic empowerment has not yet been integrated into Social Studies learning at the elementary school level in Pacitan. Family economic empowerment should be integrated into Social Studies learning through contextual learning, project-based learning, and the utilization of family economic potential as a learning resource. The main challenge to integrating family economic empowerment into Social Studies learning is teachers' limited competence in developing learning materials and curriculum.
