Abstract

In the implementation of construction projects in Badung Regency in the year 2019-2020, 31 work packages out of a total of 118 work packages, encountered delays from the set schedule. This research aims to discover the important factors causing project’s delays and to formulate efforts to manage delays on construction projects in Badung Regency. Descriptive method was used in this study. Data collection method was conducted through a questionnaire survey that was distributed to 40 respondents, who were involved in the implementation of construction projects in Badung Regency, in the year 2019-2020. Respondents' responses were tabulated and analysed by using the Relative Important Index (RII) analysis to discover the factors that mostly effected on construction project delays. Then the related mitigation to overcome the delays were formulated based on the result of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The results showed Labor Factor had the most influencing factor, with an RII value of 0.842. Through the Focus Group Discussion, the mitigation formulated for the delays in construction project implementation caused by the labour factor, were: providing training regularly to improve workers’ skills and abilities, take notice to the cleanliness and appropriateness of workers' living quarters because an unhealthy worker's place can cause a high number of sick workers, monitoring labours’ discipline, holding meetings or safety talks routinely to discuss the deterrents that happen in the field and provide directions to workers so they understand the scope of work, and adjusting workers’ work distribution area, so they can be monitored optimally.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAlcohol is an addictive substance that is often misused worldwide, including in Indonesia. Ninety percent of the alcohol that enters the body will be metabolized in the liver using the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) enzyme. It is important to determine the activity of ADH enzyme and ADH3 gene polymorphism on alcoholics and non-alcoholics in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The aim of the study is to determine ADH activity and identify ADH3 gene polymorphism of alcoholics and non-alcoholics in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design method. Blood samples were taken from 71 Javanese alcoholics and 71 non-alcoholics of Javanese descent in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The participants were initially requested to sign an informed consent form. Examination of ADH enzyme activity used the spectrophotometry method and ADH3 gene polymorphism was assessed with PCR-RFLP using Ssp I restriction enzyme. The activity of ADH enzyme in all individuals appeared to be a slower type. The average of the ethanol value of alcoholics and non-alcoholics were 0.05554 mM and 0.0758 mM respectively. Gene type of alcoholics were ADH3*2(75.4%), ADH3*1/3*2(21.5%), and ADH3*1(3.1%), and non-alcoholics were ADH3*2(88.6%), ADH3*1/3*2(10.0%), and ADH3*1(1.4%). There were no significant differences between the activity of ADH with polymorphism of ADH3 gene in either alcoholics and non-alcoholics (p>0,05). Conclusion: The activity of ADH enzyme in all participants appeared to be a slower type. Most of the ADH3 gene polymorphism of alcoholics and non-alcoholics were both ADH3*2 (75.4% and 88.6%). There was no differences of ADH enzyme activity with ADH3 gene polymorphism between alcoholics and non-alcoholics of Javanese population in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Abstract

Background and Purpose: The large number of shipyard industrial activities that stand around Buluh Island has the potential to pollute the waters of the island of Buluh so that it impacts on the catches of the reed island fishermen themselves. Some electronic media reported the impact felt by the fishermen of Buluh Island on the shipyard industry and farm of pig activities. This study aims to maintain the quality of the aquatic environment on Batam City's Buluh Island through the modeling of sources of scattered waste, so a study of non-point pollution is needed that has a direct impact on people's lives. Material and Methods: BOD parameters, in general are widely used to determine the level of waste water pollution. BOD measurement is a measurement of the amount of oxygen used by microorganisms in decomposing organic matter that is in a waters. Decomposition of organic matter involves various organisms and oxidation reactions occur with the end result of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). Oxidation reactions during the BOD examination are the result of biological activity and the reactions that take place are influenced by the population and temperature. This research was conducted in the Buluh Island area, Bulang District, Batam City, Riau Islands Province. This research was conducted in April - June 2019. The location of the study was Buluh Island, where there were many shipyards and pigs which were thought to be a source of waste distributed in the marine waters of the island of Batam City. Sampling is done based on the station (5 stations) that have been determined and measured in the laboratory and compared with the results of the model using equation 1. Results: Based on the results obtained at the five stations both for measurement results and modeling results (calculation results) BOD concentration values the highest is at station-3 and station-5 with values 16,978 and mg / L.17, 986 mg / L. This is because the station is the main source of waste in the farm of pigs and the location of the largest shipyard in the study area which has an impact on the decline in catches of Batam Island's Buluh fishermen. Conclusion: Based on the analysis conducted in this study, it can be concluded that by using the equation of the distribution model of scattered limbs and some physical parameters such as current speed, distance, coordinates and some water samples at each station, it is very easy to map the BOD-wide waste distribution model in Buluh Island waters. Batam City, Riau Islands.

Abstract

Anchovies (Stolephorus sp), need to be managed well because although as a natural resource that is open access if not managed properly, the management of fishery resources is not optimal and sustainable. One approach in the management of fish resources is with a surplus production model. The analysis was conducted to obtain the best model that aims to know the maximum sustainable catch (MSY), utilization rate, and use of anchovies. Data on catches and anchovies fishing efforts were collected from the Siak District Fisheries and Livestock Service. The best Surplus Production Model used to assess the potential of anchovies is the Walter-Hilborn model. Optimal effort (EMSY) of 150 Units per year. Cmsy's optimal catch is 247.75 tons per year. The utilization rate for 2020 is 70%, with an entrepreneurial rate of 41%, which indicates that overfishing has not occurred both biologically and economically.
