The Objective of this study was to know whether or not there is a significant influence of online reading habit on reading achievement of the eleventh grade students of Senior High School Muhammadiyah 1 of Palembang. The method of this study was Descriptive method. Next, The population of this study was all the students of the eleventh grade students of senior high school Muhammadiyah 1 of Palembang in academic years 2015/2016 consisted of 475 students. The researcher used the simple random sampling by taking five students every class. In collecting the data, the reseacher used questionnaire and reading test. In analyzing the data, the researcher applied the product moment correlation analysis and simple regression analysis in SPSS 16 software. Based on result of this study indicated that the correlation coefficient was 0.749 and the significant level was 0.01. Since the correlation coefficient obtained in this study was higher than r-table value, it was concluded that there was a correlation between students’ online reading habit and their reading achievement. While the number of significant (2-tailed) obtained was 0.001 which was less than the critical limit of α = 0.05, it means that there was a significant correlation between online reading habit and reading achievement. Based on the regression analysis, it was found that R2= 0.561which implied that 56.1% of the students’reading achievement was contributed by their reading habit.

The objective of the study is to find out whether it is effective or not using jigsaw learning model in teaching reading comprehension of spoof text to the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang. In this study, the researcher used experimental method. The population of this study is all the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang with the total numbers of students was 392. Therefore, the sample of the study is 72 students consist two classes,namely: 36 students for control group and 36 students for experimental group. The sample was taken by using non purposisve random sampling method. The data collected by using written test consist of 30 questions and the type of questions is multiple choice. The result of the test was analyzed by using t-test which were pair sample t-test and independent sample t-test was known as: mean of post test in expermental group was 72.22 higher than past test mean score of control group was 58.64. Furthermore, the result of t-obtained was 6.132 and t-table was 2.030, it shows that t-obtained was higher than t-table. From the explanation above, there were significant difference between the experimental group that have been taught by using jigsaw learning model and control group that was not taught using treatment. It means that, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded that it was effective of using jigsaw learning model to teach reading comprehension of spoof text to the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang.

This study would like to reveal the magnitude of the role of parents, especiallymothers in educating children and this should be one of the important considerationsin fostering a bright future family. But what happens is just the opposite, where withthe growing number of children, the easier it is for parents to hand over theireducation and care to other parties or people, including formal education institutions.This study uses qualitative methods through related literature review. The results ofthis study revealed the importance of the government playing a role in educationthrough special attention to the existence of formal and non-formal educationinstitutions. In addition, government care is also important in improving the quality ofeducation for mothers as informal education providers for children. Though as amother who has a big role in parenting and children's education plays a veryimportant role so that the influence of the planting of children's intelligence should berealized by the mother. In order to be able to compete with other countries in thefuture, then a great attention to efforts to empower children needs to be improved.The government through institutions such as the Minister of National Education, theMinister of Women Empowerment, Minister of Health, BKKBN and others canbecome pioneers through related policies. Of course the Government must strive sothat the interest is accompanied by providing sufficient knowledge to the mothers. Microteaching is a practical event which is very beneficial for candidate teachers to have real environment of teaching. The candidate teachers get big chances to implement their experience in teaching. The students’ perfectives are crucial for promoting teacher education programs’ outcomes. This study aimed at investigating the students’ views of thirty students from the English Language Education Program of FKIP-UIR. A combination of quantitative and qualitative techniques used in gathering the data. Mainly, a questionnaire and a focus group interview were used as the main tools for data collection. The findings revealed that the entire sample of student has stated that they were having their own perspectives towards Microteaching and their opinion during microteaching sessions provides a scope to enhance their teaching skills for real teaching sessions. Based on the findings, these candidate teachers were glad to have real teaching session during microteaching class

The purpose of this study is to know the teaching and learning activity in implementing the 2013 curriculum. This research is based on a preliminary study of the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in some junior high schools around Pekanbaru by observing and interviewing English teachers. This research is qualitative. Researcher use observation sheet and interview to know the learning activities in SMP Negeri 23 Pekanbaru. Based on the research findings, first, the stage of teaching and learning process in the classroom, the teacher has not been able to carry out the ideal teaching step; second, professionally, the curriculum implementer has not received training from the government to support the teaching and learning process in the classroom and the last available resources and media Not yet supported. By doing this research, researchers hope that the government does the right training for all English teachers in applying the 2013 curriculum.

Mobile phone is a recent technology in teaching English. Mobile phone provides simple and easy way in developing teaching and learning activities, therefore, the researcher was interested in finding the data information about the role of mobile phone for English language teaching. The utilization of mobile phone offers valuable opportunities for creating an effective teaching strategy. The students' perspectives are crucial for getting their views of role of mobile phone in language teaching. This case study was to find out the students' perspectives of mobile phone role in English language teaching. A qualitative design was employed for the purpose of getting the data. Mainly semi structure interview was used as the research instruments. The result of her research finding showed that most students were having good response towards the usage of mobile phones in language learning but some findings shown that the problems were also occurred at the same moment of using it. These research findings were contributed the next research for more deeply dig for language learning.

The aim of the research was to find out teaching and learning activities at SMA Negeri 12 in implementing 2013 curriculum. This research was based on the preliminary studies in some Junior and Senior High Schools around Pekanbaru by observing and interviewing the English teacher in excuting 2013 curriculum. The design of this Research was qualitative.The researcher used observation sheet and interview to find out the activities in SMA Negeri 12. Based on the research findings, first, the stage of teaching and learning process in the classroom, the teacher could not implement the step ideally, second, the professional curriculum from the government did not provide the available training to support teaching and learning in the classroom and the last the availability of resources and media were not supported yet. By conducting this research, the researcher hoped that the government conducting the appropriate training to all English teachers in implementing 2013 curriculum.

Improving Students’ English Speaking Skills Through Demonstration Method of The class XI IPS 1 students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang. This study aims to improve the students’ speaking skills of class XI IPS 1 at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang by using the demonstration method. The subject of this research is all the students of class XI IPS1 of SMA Muhammadiyah Palembang consisting of 32 students. This study used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods in which the data contained in this study are numbers, percentages and depictions used to determine the success or failure of a study. The research instrument was in the form of daily tests and interview. The data obtained from the instrument that shows students who reached the KKM on: (1) Pre-test are 3 students (9.37%), (2) the result of Cycle I is 7 students (21.87%), (3) the result of cycle II is 17 students ( 53.12%), and (4) the result of Cycle III is 25 students (78.12%). From the data can be concluded that the application of the demonstration method can improve students’ speaking skills of class XI IPS 1 studens of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang.

The aim of the study to find out whether or not it is effective to use one act drama in improving speaking ability to the eighth grade students of junior high school 44 of Palembang. The method used in this study was experimental method. The population of the study was all the eighth grade students of junior high school 44 of Palembang consisted of 290 students. The number of sample was 74 students taken by using purposive sampling and divided into two groups namely, control and experimental. The data of test was analyzed by using t-test. The result of the study indicated that the mean of posttest in the experimental group was 69.86, and the mean of posttest in the control group was 68.33. t-obtained was 2.052 at the significance level of p> 0.05 (5%) in 2-tailed testing and degree if freedom (df) was 72, and critical value of t-table was 1.990. Since the value of t-obtained was higher than the critical value of t-table, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that improving students’ speaking ability through one act drama was effective.

Vocabulary is the first step that must be memorize by learner in speaking English as a foreign language. There are two kinds of vocabulary learning strategies which are breadth vocabulary (recognition) and depth vocabulary (recall). In enhancing L2 vocabulary knowledge students need the awareness of learning strategies used. The active students use learning strategies can increase language skills, self confidence and learning motivation in learning activity process. Learning strategies instruct students to learn independently, responsibly, and actively. Thus, students tend to be more confident and motivated when applied learning strategies in the daily learning process. Besides, teacher ought to teach and motivate students to apply students’ some learning strategies accordingly. Finally after implementing learning strategies, students and teachers need to evaluate the progress students’ vocabulary regularly.
