Abstract

Most of physics students hold classical physics perspective when they learn quantum physics. Modeling instruction is implemented to identify mental models changing in learning quantum conceptual models. Mental model is an image created in the mind of a natural phenomenon. The conceptual model is a description of natural phenomena in appropriate with the scientists perspective. Qualitative analysis used in this research is grounded theory. The results of identification student model mental is categorized as quantum, intermediate and clasical mechanics. Students have experienced changing of dimensional understanding area from classical mechanics into a quantum perpective. The accuracy of mental model identification can be improved by making the interpretation image repeatedly.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials to improve problem-solving skills that are feasible to use as a class XII physics learning media on sound wave material. In addition, it is also to find out the response of students to teaching materials developed in terms of meeting the standards of usability and quality. This research is R & D research with design according to Borg including: needs analysis, product planning and development, product development, product evaluation, and final products. The instructional materials developed have been implemented in 63 students of class XII SMAN 5 Semarang. Data collection is done by giving a validation sheet to the senior teacher. Data on students 'problem solving abilities were obtained from the results of the pretest and posttest while the students' performance was seen from the observation of practical activities in the laboratory. Students are also given a questionnaire to provide input on the teaching materials that have been developed. The results of the study indicate that the product of development is declared feasible based on expert judgment. Implementation of teaching materials in physics learning in sound wave material is able to improve problem solving skills and student performance.

Abstract

This study discusses about the effect of using Mini Tesla Coil on students' analytical thinking skill in solving physics problems. This research aims to improve students? analytical thinking skill and to classify students' analytical thinking skill level. The research used mix method with One Group pretest-posttest design. The respondents were 99 students consist of 34 students of 2nd semester, 34 students of 4th semester, and 31 students of 6th semester taken by purposive sampling technique. Demonstration and experiment with Mini Tesla coil were applied on this learning. Collecting data was done through tests and interviews. The significance difference of mean value of analytical thinking skill among student level is determined by ANAVA One Way test, while to know the improvement of analytical thinking skill using the normalized gain (N-Gain) test, and for clarification and deepening data of analytical thinking skill by interview. Based on ANAVA One Way test, Fcount = 5.61 > Ftable = 3.09. These results indicate that there are significant differences on analytical thinking skills among students. Based on the N-Gain test, value of N-Gain is 0.42 - 0.45 which indicates an enhancement on students' analytical thinking skills in the medium category. The result of interview classify the 2nd semester students tend to pre-analytical level, while students of 4th semester and 6th semester tend to partial analytical level. Thus the use of Mini Tesla Coil in the learning is effective to improve analytical thinking skills at all levels of students. Low-level students tend at the pre-analytical thinking whereas the higher level students tend at the partial analytical thinking

Abstract

Practical report as one of the written works, describes the thinking ability, especially critical and creative thinking ability. Application of critical thinking is intended to generate seports that can be understood by the reader comprehensively. The application of creative thinking ability is used to bring up the aesthetic results of lab reports. This study aimed to analize the critical and creative thinking ability and patterns in the preparation of the basic physics lab results. The research data applying cocument analysis, questionnaire, and confirmed by an interview given to students of Physical Education. Grounded theoriy is used to analize this study. The results showed that students critical thinking ability tha are in medium and high category whose are different pattern. Differences in pattern between students ability to think high and medium category critically is located on the caracteristics of those key issue on the basic components of the theory that clarivy the terms of physics (definition, examples, and background), clarivying the mathematical equations used to provide meaning and reveal facts that are pailored to the theory on the data analized component. Diffrences capable of creative thinking ability of students high and medium categories is located in the birth of new ideas coming from students thinking practitioner in the preaparation of the component of interest, and detailing and object so that it is more valuable to describe the tools anda materials used for practical implementation.

Abstract

This Research is aimed for knowing, (1) the implementation of contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan for physics material especially temperature and heat, (2) the improvement of students’ learning achievements after the application of contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan, and (3) the students’ responses after being given contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan. This research mix methods, namely quantitative and qualitative. This research was conducted in two classed at SMK Walisongo Semarang for student class X TKJ Telkom 1 as experimental class and X TKJ Telkom 2 as control class. The identification of local potential of Batik Semarangan was carried out by using interview and observation technique which were then analyzed qualitatively and the result was substituted to physics material, namely temperature and heat.  Furthermore, learning achievements were assessed from sides of cognitive, affective and psychomotor.  The result showed that contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan was effective for improving cognitive learning achievements as proved by experimental class having value of 0.79 which was higher than the control class of 0.57. In addition, the result showed that contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan was effective in improving effective learning achievements as proved by the experimental class average of 86.55 which was higher than the control class of 76.73. The result also showed that contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan was effective in improving psychomotor learning achievements as proved by the experiment class average score 33.3 higher than control class 25.4. The implementation of contextual learning by using Batik Semarangan got a positive responses by students because it made them easier to understand concepts, to be more skilled, and increased students’ interest in the learning process. Based on the result, it can be concluded that contextual learning with the use of Batik Semarangan can be applied to study temperature and heat material in classroom. Contextual learning with the use of Batik Semarangan can improve students’ learning achievement. Contextual learning with the use of Batik Semarangan got a good response by students.

Abstract

This study discusses the utilization of gadgets used for virtual practicum in order to obtain data on students' conceptual understanding in physics subjects with electricity material. This study aims to determine the understanding of students' concepts in physics subjects. Student understanding of concepts was obtained by comparing knowledge before and after the treatment is carried out. This type of research was quantitative research, with sample of class XII MIPA MAN Kendal students. Data processing techniques used pretest data and posttest data between the experimental class and the control class. The average result of the experimental class was 0.28 with the low N-gain category and the average control class was 0.16 with the low category. However, the average N-gain in the experimental class is close to the medium category, thus the average level of understanding of the concept in the experimental class is higher than that of the control class.
