Abstract

Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) adalah tanaman yang digunakan secara tradisional untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kesehatan keluarga. desa Suco memiliki banyak potensi keanekaragaman hayati. Masyarakat Desa Suco telah memiliki beberapa jenis tumbuhan obat yang ditanam di pekarangan rumahnya namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat Desa Suco tentang macam dan fungsi TOGA serta memasarkan hasil panen TOGA secara sederhana. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan dan pelaksanaan. Masing-masing tahapan tersebut terdiri dari tiga langkah. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan pendampingan konservasi TOGA berbasis biodiversitas tumbuhan obat lokal berjalan dengan baik. Peserta tampak antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Respon yang baik juga disampaikan oleh peserta kegiatan. Peserta kegiatan juga melaksanakan praktik pembuatan obat-obatan sederhgana dari TOGA dan mengemasnya secara sederhana untuk siap dipasarkan  sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa pemahaman masyarakat Desa Suco terkait dengan konservasi TOGA berbasis biodiversitas tumbuhan obat lokal  tersebut meningkat.

Abstract

Development of a Marine-Based E-Module in Grenden Village to Enhance Science Literacy of Junior High School Students. The purpose of this study was to examine the content validity, construct validity, and response to improve students' science literacy. The development of an e-module based on marine potential for the material of plant and animal reproduction systems is based on the consideration of students to get learning experiences by utilizing the surrounding environment and being aware of preserving the marine environment. The research method used was the ADDIE development design consisting of three stages, namely analysis, design, and development. The results showed that (1) the percentage of content validity of the e-module based on marine potential was 85%, (2) the percentage of practicality of the e-module based on marine potential was 90% with an N-gain of 0.77, (3) the percentage of response to the e-module based on marine potential was 76%, so it can be concluded that the e-module based on marine potential is valid in terms of content and construct with a positive response to improve junior high school students' science literacy.

Abstract

Computational thinking has become a crucial skill for students because it gives them the tools to solve complicated issues using organized methods. Implementing Problem-based learning and Design-based learning in science learning has significantly enhanced students' skills. This research aims to ascertain which of the two models is better for facilitating computational thinking skills among middle school students in science learning. The study used a sample of 69 middle school students selected through random sampling. This research employs a quasi-experimental, multi-group, post-test-only design. The instrument utilized in this research is a computational thinking skills test comprising five questions. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA to test the hypotheses. Tukey test results indicate that the mean difference score between the PBL and DBL groups is 1.2609, with a significance value greater than 0.05. The study confirms that Problem-based learning is more effective than Design-based learning in facilitating students' computational thinking skills. However, the difference between the two is not particularly noteworthy. PBL and DBL represent viable pedagogical approaches that can enhance middle school students' computational thinking skills in science learning.         Keywords: problem-based learning, design-based learning, computational thinking skill. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1214-1223

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan buku ajar evolusi berbasis penelitian untuk mahasiswa S1 Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Jember pada Materi Spesiasi yang berdasar pada enam tahapan awal model pengembangan Dick and Carey. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, angket dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa (1) capaian pembelajaran adalah mampu menguasai dan menggunakan konsep,prinsip, dan prosedur kajian evolusi (2) materi yang disajikan dalam proses diskusi kelas kurang aplikatif dan tidak melibatkan perkembangan IPTEK di bidang Evolusi (3) pemahaman konsep evolusi mahasiswabelum sampai pada tahap molekuler (4) buku evolusi yang digunakan bertahun terbit lama dan kurang memberikan contoh yang bersifat kontekstual dan (5) belum terbiasa menggunakan pendekatan molekuler. Hasil penelitian ini digunakan sebagai dasar pengembangan buku ajar Evolusi berbasis penelitian bagi mahasiswa S1 Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Jember.

Abstract

Science learning is closely linked to students' scientific writing skills. While science education imparts scientific concepts and theories, scientific writing enables students to structure and express their understanding of these concepts and theories. Despite this, scientific writing skills among junior high school students tend to be in the low category. This study aimed to investigate the impact of using student worksheets based on question prompt scaffolding on the scientific writing skills of junior high school students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group. Data were collected using tests, with essay tests assessing scientific writing skills across various indicators such as clarification, observation, measurement, claims, causation, argumentation, and generalization. The results from an independent sample t-test indicated a significance value of p Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.028, which is less than 0.05, suggesting a significant difference in the average scientific writing scores between the experimental and control groups. Thus, it can be concluded that student worksheets based on question prompt scaffolding significantly enhance the scientific writing skills of junior high school students in science learning.
