Abstract

Novel Muhammad: Lelaki Penggenggam Hujan karya Tasaro G.K. menceritakan dua kisah, yakni kisah Nabi Muhammad saw. dan kisah seorang lelaki Persia bernama Kashva. Dikisahkah bahwa Kashva pergi mencari lelaki yang kelahirannya telah dijanjikan oleh banyak kitab suci sebagai nabi baru yang akan membawa rahmat manusia dan semesta alam. Di tengah-tengah kisah pencarian itulah terselip kisah Nabi Muhammad Saw. Dari kisah-kisah tersebutlah tersimpan pesan profetik berupa nilai humanisasi (amar ma’ruf), nilai liberasi (nahi munkar), dan transendensi (tu’minu billah). Penelitian ini membahas ketiga nilai profetik tersebut dengan tinjauan struktural semiotik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai profetik dalam novel Muhammad: Lelaki Penggenggam Hujan karya Tasaro G.K. ditinjau dari struktur novel dan semiotik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi model Philipp Mayring kategori deduktif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya nilai profetik yakni nilai humanisasi, nilai liberasi, dan nilai transendensi yang begitu melekat sesuai dengan realitas Al Quran sebagai sumber utama ilmu pengetahuan. Selain itu, banyak sekali pengetahuan adab dan karakter yang tercermin dari ketiga nilai profetik yang baik diterapkan di sekolah sebagai suatu bentuk ekspresi dari upaya penanaman karakter pada siswa. The novel of Muhammad: Lelaki Penggenggam Hujan by Tasaro G.K. tells two stories, the story of the Prophet Muhammad and the story of a Persian man named Kashva. It is said that Kashva went to find a man whose birth was promised by many scriptures as a new prophet who would bring grace to mankind and all the universe. In the middle of the search story, the story of the Prophet Muhammad was tucked. From these stories, prophetic messages are stored in the form of the value of humanization (amar ma'ruf), the value of liberation (nahi munkar), and transcendence (tu'minu billah). This study discusses the three prophetic values with a semiotic structural review. This study aims to determine the prophetic value in the novel Muhammad: Lelaki Penggenggam Hujan by Tasaro G.K. in terms of the novel and semiotic structure. This study used a qualitative approach with the content analysis method of the deductive Philipp Mayring model. The results of this study indicate that there are three prophetic values namely, the value of humanization, the value of liberation, and the value of transcendence which is so inherent in accordance with the reality of the Al-Quran as the main source of knowledge. In addition, there is a lot of knowledge of manners and character which is reflected in the three good prophetic values applied in schools as a form of expression of efforts to cultivate character in students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengangkat tema kajian feminisme dalam seni peran terutama pada perfilman. Tokoh wanita yang terdapat di film ini digambarkan sebagai seorang tokoh wanita yang kuat dan berjiwa pemimpin. Tokoh wanita ini eksis di antara dominasi para kaum pria seperti biasanya. Seorang tokoh wanita biasanya digambarkan dengan peran yang feminine, tetapi dalam film ini peran yang ditampilkan sangat bertolak belakang. Dari peran tokoh ini wanita dalam film The Great Wall ini memunculkan sisi Feminisme Eksistensialis yaitu wanita digambarkan sebagai seorang sosok yang memiliki tingkat kemandirian, cara berpikir yang tidak tergantung oleh kaum pria. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan strategi yang dikemukakan oleh Simone de Beauvoir, yaitu bagaimana perempuan memaknai diri, yaitu: 1) bekerja dan menentukan nasib; 2) bergabung dengan kelompok intelektual, berpikir, melihat, dan mendefinisikan untuk membawa perubahan bagi perempuan; 3) bekerja dan mencapai transformasi sosial dalam masyarakat; dan 4) menolak menginternalisasi bahwa wanita dibawah laki-laki. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sisi emosional dari seorang wanita tidak dapat mengubah tokoh seorang wanita dalam menghadapi masalah, hal ini terlihat dari alur cerita yang diberikan pada film yang bergenre kolosal ini.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to obtain a deep understanding about the online machine translation of graduate students in the Language Education Doctoral Program of State University of Jakarta, Indonesia, from source language to target language in order to achieve equivalence in the subject of Language Translation and Education. The approach used is qualitative approach with ethnography method. The translation process is conducted by writing down words or copying-pasting sentences to be translated and then those words/sentences will be automatically translated by machine translation. A repetitive edit, revision and correction process shall be first performed in order to get an optimum result i.e. translated sentences are equal in textual and meanings. The deviations occur due to inaccurate equivalents caused by different cultures between the source language and target language as well as the scope of translated language scientific field. The used strategy is a literal translation. Based on the research results, the translation of English tasks to Indonesian through the online translation program is very useful to facilitate the students’ lecturing process in completing their tasks.

Abstract

Communication gap because of linguistic difference and unavailability of specific learning materials become a problem of foreign workers working in Indonesia. A specific research that develops IFL learning materials to overcome these problems is needed. This study aims to develop and improve the quality of available IFL materials. Methodology used here is Research and Development, combining quantitative-qualitative approaches. The result of this study is: 1) M E D I A as a new framework learning materials with humanistic approach that presents multicultural domestic foreign workers’ characters bound by a shared narrative on linguistic problems within business communication realm; and 2) M E D I A as mnemonic technique to embody those multicultural characters and values into teaching materials’ books namely BIPA Business Communication. High-scoring of colleagues’ evaluation and experts’ validation confirms that the IFL is highly recommended to use. Having been implemented in large-scale class through Indonesian Proficiency Test (IPT), current study achieves effectively testing result which shows that this model of IFL learning materials is effective to use because it helps to improve the language skill of students.

Abstract

Lulusan jurusan bahasa Prancis UNJ memperoleh pekerjaan di bidang pendidikan dan nonkependidikan misalnya pariwisata, perhotelan, sekretaris, alih bahasa dan interpreting (penerjemahan lisan). Hal ini terjadi karena terbatasnya lapangan kerja di bidang pengajaran apalagi akibat perubahan orientasi kurikulum di sekolah menengah untuk pelajaran bahasa asing kecuali Inggris, sebagian alumni terpaksa tidak bekerja di lapangan pengajaran bahasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif . Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah angket yang terbagi dalam dua bagian. Bagian pertama (A) merupakan identitas responden dan bagian Kedua (B) merupakan aspek keadaan lulusan dan kurikulum Jurusan Bahasa Prancis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memperoleh data terkini mengenai lapangan kerja para alumni Jurusan Bahasa Prancis dan kaitannya dengan kurikulum Jurusan Bahasa Prancis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis kompetensi yang dibutuhkan lulusan JBP saat ini di pasar kerja saat ini sangat bervariasi, yang berkaitan dengan kompetensi kebahasaan, kompetensi administrasi dan perkantoran, serta keahlian magerial, dan yang terakhir adalah kompetensi di bidang wiraswasta, yaitu usaha menciptakan lapangan kerja secara mandiri. Kata Kunci : Jenis pekerjaan, alumni jurusan bahasa Prancis.

Abstract

This study aims at improving students’ comprehension on English vocabulary using computer and finding out the effectiveness, efficiency and the attractiveness of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in English learning. It was carried out at SMP Sunan Giri Gresik by using proactive action research method and intervention action model. The participants belonged to 3 different class groups. Thirty of them were from 7th grade (Amanah class) and thirty-two of them from (Hidayah class). The other 30 participants from (Inayah class). The data were collected and analyzed by using mixed method approach. Instruments used for collecting data in this study are questionnaires, documents, observation check list, interview, and achievement tests. The results showed that the treatments give affect positively for students especially treatment on cycle 2. It also can be seen by the students’ involvement actively during learning process. Computer assisted learning especially using software gave students chance to explore their English skill especially the vocabulary through interacting directly with computer by doing exercises given individually in pair or group. From the explanation above it can be concluded that English learning in junior high school can be improved with the help of computer assistance in this matter called Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) mainly to improve English vocabulary. Abstract

This research traces the relationship between a character's existence, ecological insight, and cultural values ​​in folklore. Whether it is recognized or not, in Indonesia, folklore has the power to explore nature. To achieve that goal, this research approach is qualitative that is supported by a content analysis method. The source of research data is Timun Mas Folklore. The study of literary perspective (environment) in eco-criticism can construct the wisdom of the environment itself and the study of environmental literature perspective, can be focused on ethical studies (1) respect for nature, (2) responsibility for nature, (3) solidarity towards nature, (4) affection and care for nature, and (5) attitudes not to disturb the natural life displayed in literary works. Through this study, there are several findings obtained that are water environment pollution, habitat destruction, and management of nature or the environment.

Abstract

In the process of life, we had made human beings as the subject of education. In that process, a person learns and understands of the others’ character, nature, feeling, and the way of thinking. Character is defined as a way of thinking and behaving that is typical of each individual to live and work together, both within the family, community, nation, and state that shows how a person behaves. The process of character formation is mainly directed to students. Fairy tale can be used as a tool or a bridge to achieve the mission and vision of character education. Before the society is familiar with writing, the fairy tales were used as media of social values and very in teaching from one generation to another generation. In addition to being used to sharpen the students’ fantasy and imagination, telling a fairy tale is a very effective method of delivering messages to the learners. Moreover, the activities of storytelling are also the best tool in the process of refreshing the tense atmosphere back to the pleasant atmosphere. Understanding and cultivation of character education through the fairy tale will be more easily applied by learners in daily life through the study of literature which is also expected to establish a scientific attitude.   Keywords: fairy tale, character education, scientific attitude

Abstract

This study aims to investigate culture themes in English learning at Islamic junior high school (SMPIT) Raudhatul Jannah Cilegon in academic years 2017/2018. This research conducts a qualitative approach with an ethnography method. The data were collected through observation, interview, and document analysis. The research analysis used Spradley’s terms; domain, taxonomy, and componential analysis, then discovering cultural themes. The research findings showed that 1) Cultural themes that found in English learning at SMPIT Raudhatul Jannah Cilegon have many cultural aspects including rule, custom, attitude, and value; 2) The four cultural aspects are reflected in English learning activities that apply cooperative learning. The results of this research conclude that cultural aspects which contained in English learning at SMPIT Raudhatul Jannah Cilegon become a complement that can improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to learn more about the cultural value of the novel Charlotte’s Web - E.B White. The qualitative descriptive technique was used in this study, which is based on the literary anthropology approach. The information was gathered by carefully reading the text, identifying, and categorizing it. The goal of this study is to help find the friendship depicted in the novel Charlotte's Web. This study focuses on the many forms of friendship and how they are depicted in the novel. W. D. Ross (1999) theory was used to identify and classify the data, while Robert Stanton's (1965) theory was utilized to analyze the friendship depicted in the novel Charlotte's Web. The findings of this study reveal three forms of friendship in the characters represented. The three forms of friendship are as follows: 1) friendship of utility, 2) friendship of pleasure, and 3) friendship of kindness.
