Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the Implementation of STEAM-Based Project Based Learning to Improve Students' Critical Thinking Skills in High School. Method: The method used is a literature review which is included in qualitative descriptive research, with the population used in writing this article being several sources of articles from various accredited national and international journals.  Results:  Based on some of the literature that has been reviewed, the application of the STEAM-based Project Based Learning model is very effective to be applied to education in Indonesia because learning is not only centered on the teacher, but students also play an active role in learning activities. This learning model can also improve problem solving skills well. This learning model can also be used with various learning media. Novelty: The integration of STEAM and Project-Based Learning to improve the critical thinking skills of high school students in Indonesia provides a valuable gap in its effectiveness for the development of the 21st-century curriculum, while also supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusive, equitable, and future-oriented learning practices.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the application of adiabatic coupler modification in efficient optical coupler engineering and to emphasize its contribution to the achievement of SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Method: The method used is a literature study through a review of relevant articles and Python software-based analysis to evaluate the impact of coupler modifications, as an effort to strengthen theoretical findings.  Results:  The results of this study show that the invariance principle-based reverse engineering approach is practical in designing directional couplers on waveguides. Combined with perturbation analysis of the coupled mode equations, this method produces directional couplers that are highly robust to parameter variations such as coupling coefficient and wavelength. However, changes in scale or resonance through Python integration do not significantly affect the apparent deviation of the coupler wave, so the efficiency of the coupler is mainly determined by the coupling coefficient and wavelength variations. Novelty: This study highlights the novelty of utilizing the invariance principle and resonance modification as an efficient and straightforward approach for adiabatic coupler optimization. Furthermore, the results demonstrate the significant contribution of adiabatic couplers to SDG 9 through their support for the development of sustainable optical communication infrastructure, increased energy efficiency, and innovation in next-generation optical technologies.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze research trends on the concept of parallel worlds within metaphysical studies and its connections to both modern and classical physics. The focus is on exploring the relationship between metaphysical perspectives, cultural traditions, and scientific theories such as relativity, dimensions, and thermodynamics. Method: This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis. Data were collected from various international academic databases covering publications from the last five years and were analyzed thematically to identify patterns, conceptual linkages, and emerging research trends. Results: The analysis reveals a growing number of publications discussing parallel worlds and metaphysics over the past five years. Many studies integrate traditional and cultural wisdom with modern physics, positioning the field as a multidisciplinary endeavor bridging philosophy and science. Novelty: This study finds that parallel worlds are closely connected to metaphysics and physics, particularly in the context of space-time dimensions, relativity, quantum mechanics, and thermodynamic principles. The integration of cultural, philosophical, and scientific perspectives highlights that metaphysics is not solely speculative but can be examined scientifically through interdisciplinary approaches.

The analysis focuses on identifying dominant research themes, mapping the structure of the research field, and examining the evolution of research on the integration of digital technologies in science learning. Method: This study employed a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database. The article selection process followed the PRISMA guidelines, yielding 101 documents for analysis. The study examined keyword co-occurrence, citation patterns, and thematic structures. Network, overlay, and density visualizations were conducted using VOSviewer to explore relationships between keywords and the temporal development of research topics. Results: The findings indicate that research on PBL in digital and virtual science learning is structured around core themes such as problem-based learning, students, e-learning, and virtual reality, which show strong interconnections. The temporal analysis reveals a shift from general educational contexts toward the integration of digital and immersive technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. In addition, density and citation analyses highlight the central role of digital technology in shaping contemporary PBL research. In contrast, emerging topics such as machine learning and digital twins remain less explored. Novelty: This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric mapping of the convergence between PBL and digital–virtual technologies in science learning, revealing a conceptual shift toward intelligent and immersive learning environments and identifying emerging research opportunities.
