Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Yellow root (Fatoua pilosa Gaudich) is a type of plant which is found on lowland mostly in Japan, China and usually grow in the dry bushes. Traditionally, the yellow root (Fatuoa pilosa Gaudich) is used to treat the disease of diabetes mellitus and as antiinflamation. One of the causes of diabetes disease is oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can be reduced by using antioxidants. This research aims to explore antioxidant activity and inhibition of α-glucosidase enzyme from yellow root extract (Fatoua pilosa Gaudich.). Quantitative determination of total phenolic by using folin-ciocalteu method declared as gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per gram of extract, levels of total flavonoids with AlCl3 method declared as Quercetin equivalen (QE), and antioxidant activity in fertilization with the DPPH (2, 2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl) stated in the IC50 (concentration inhibition). The Results showed that the highest levels of total flavonoids was in extract ethanol 96% 199.44 g QE/g extract, while the total phenolic levels highest in 70% ethanol extracts 211.54 mg GAE/g extract. The highest IC50 obtained from antioxidant test of yellow root extrat was 70% ethanol extract 14.62 μg/mL and the most active fraction that can inhibit α-glucosidase enzyme was of ethyl acetate fraction with IC50 values 680.54 μg/mL.

Community service activities aimed at increasing public awareness of degenerative diseases by screening and nutritional counseling regularly, namely 3 points of time measurements in 30 days. Measurements were conducted on body composition, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels. The results are used as reference data for eating management during counseling. There were 53 residents who voluntarily participated. The activity was carried out in Kelurahan 13 Ulu in the Bingen Culinary Village, which is a study program fostered village. The results showed an improvement where 36 people who had hypertension at the initial examination (65.5 %) has decreased to 30 people (54.5 %), high cholesterol levels at the initial examination were 20 people (36.3 %) to 9 people (16.3 %), overweight 40 people (72.7 %) to 39 people (70.0 %). Inspirational Smart Village is a program to educate children about messages on balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, reproductive health, environmental health and understanding fire response actions. After evaluating the results of the activity by conducting a post test to test the knowledge related to the education that has been given. The results of the post test were analyzed using a data processing application to see the average value of children's knowledge. The design in this study is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional study approach with a sample of 60 respondents. The cut-off point value is taken from the median value of 80.00. The results obtained were 42 children with good knowledge (63.6%), and 24 people with less knowledge (36.4%). Abstract

The river is an important element in the life of the people who live around it. However, the high rate of river pollution makes the existence of the river cannot be used optimally. One of the causes of river pollution is the behavior of littering. The waste problem in Indonesia is still a thorny problem that has not been resolved until now. The increasingly polluted Musi River makes people vulnerable to the impacts of existing river pollution. Children are agents of change who need to be educated to produce quality young generations. Sanitary Camp is a program to educate about environmental health for young children so they will love their environment more. The method used is the Photovoice method which used photos as a means of expressing the views of participants. Participants in this community service were early childhood and elementary school children, totaling 35 people. There are 3 main stages of the photovoice process: making photographs, collective interpretation, and the process of dissemination of the resulting photos. The results of this community service activity reveal that the waste problem around the Musi River is caused by the habit of disposing of garbage that has been going on for generations in the community and the lack of waste management infrastructure as a practical solution for the community. There needs to be a role for the government to socialize and procure adequate waste management facilities and facilities for the sake of the sustainability of a healthy environment.
