Abstract

Corrosion on the internal equipment of the Net Gas Wash Column is the thinning of the material which, if prevention or control is not carried out, will cause damage or leaks to the equipment. Internal corrosion of equipment such as Net gas wash columns is a common problem in industries that use chemical processes or gas processing. Corrosion occurs when metal materials react with the surrounding environment, such as gases involved in the process, moisture, or other chemicals. Several factors that can cause internal corrosion of equipment such as the Net Gas Wash Column include environmental conditions, material properties, temperature and pressure and the presence of water or humidity. This research aims to determine the corrosion conditions that occur, the impact of corrosion rate, thickness thinning, and the relationship between corrosion rate and remaining lifetime. This research uses a non-destructive testing method, namely the Ultrasonic Test. The results of the analysis and calculations were obtained for the corrosion rate that occurred on the Net Gas Wash Column tool, namely shell 0.11 mm/year and head 0.3 mm/year which was caused by temperature and working flow rate. The direct impact of corrosion is equipment damage and the indirect impact is the costs incurred to replace the equipment. The remaining lifetime for the shell and head is 69 years and 40 years. When the remaining lifetime decreases, the depletion caused by the H2S compound and the corrosion rate will increase immediately. From the results of this research, the relationship between the causes, impacts and corrosion rates on the remaining lifetime of the Net Gas Wash Column equipment can be identified and analyzed.

Abstract

Lapangan Bunyu merupakan lapangan migas yang terletak di cekungan Kutai Kalimantan Timur, untuk meningkatkan jumlah produksi pada lapangan tersebut maka dilakukan pemboran sumur baru / usulan (HSN). Dikarenakan sumur tersebut belum memiliki data sehingga dimanfaatkanlah data sumur yang tersedia (RHN & FGO) atau sumur yang telah di bor (post mortem). Sumur RHN & FGO  terdapat beberapa masalah pemboran yang dihadapi, oleh sebab itu dilakukan analisa dan evaluasi  pore pressure  dan  fracture gradient  (PPFG). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada sumur RHN & FGO Overburden gradient  kedua sumur  akan meningkat seiring bertambahnya kedalaman, dengan nilai OBG tertinggi pada sumur FGO 2,054 SG dan RHN 2,372 SG. Lalu  hasil analisa  PPFG  pada sumur tersebut didapatkan  ramp up  pada kedalaman 2735,10 mTVD dan sumur FGO terjadi ramp up pada kedalaman 2876 mTVD dengan nilai tekanan hidrostatik 1,03 SG. Berdasarkan analisis geological konteks,  sumur FGO  dipilih sebagai referensi sumur HSN  dan didapatkan hasil ramp up  dari korelasi marker di kedalaman  2869,43 mTVD yang dimana hasil tersebut menunjukkan sesuai dengan TD (2657,21 mTVD) yang di targetkan bahwa sumur HSN tidak  terdapat  indikasi terjadi  overpressure. Lalu  dalam  penentuan potensi drilling hazard menggunakan hasil korelasi didapatkan pada sumur usulan akan terjadi loss circulation pada kedalaman 1735,06 mTVD dan 1792,29 mTVD.

Abstract

The success of a drilling operation depends on the conditions and mud system used. Changes in the physical properties of the mud are caused by contamination from NaCl, which occurs when drilling penetrates a high-salt dome and enters the drilling mud.The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of adding Bentonite and Attapulgite additives on the properties of drilling mud. This research uses an experimental method.The results show that the density of the mud remains constant in the range of 1.04-1.06 ppg, even when Attapulgite is added up to 4 grams, because the use of barite remains at 25 grams. The addition of Attapulgite increases the plastic viscosity from 13 cp in sample 1 to 24 cp in sample 5, increases the yield point from 30 lb/100ft² to 62 lb/100ft², making the mud more effective in transporting drill cuttings. The gel strength increases from 11 lb/100ft² to 15 lb/100ft², meeting API standards. The filtrate decreases from 8.4 mL in sample 3 to 6.6 mL in sample 5, indicating Attapulgite's ability to control filtration. The mud cake thickness remains thin (0.13-0.18 mm), in accordance with API standards. Conclusion The addition of Attapulgite in the amount of 1-4 grams shows an increase in various parameters. Attapulgite is effective as an additive for controlling filtration loss, with test results showing a decrease in filtrate volume in all samples.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of temperature on the properties of KCl polymer-based drilling mud, focusing on maintaining the stability of these properties under varying temperature conditions. Five sample variations were tested: Sample A at room temperature, Sample B1 at 150°F, Sample B2 at 200°F, Sample B3 at 250°F, and Sample C at 250°F with the addition of selected additives. The B series samples showed a decline in mud quality as temperature increased, with Sample B3 falling outside the required specification limits for plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength, and API filtrate due to high-temperature effects. To address this, additives were introduced in Sample C to enhance the composition and stabilize the mud properties. As a result, Sample C met the required specifications with plastic viscosity of 14 lbs/100ft², yield point of 32 lbs/100ft², gel strength of 9 lbs/100ft² after 10 seconds and 12 lbs/100ft² after 10 minutes, and API filtrate of 5.2 cc/30 minutes.
