Abstract

Abstract

In the era of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, COVID-19 screening education is essential for the general public, especially for those who undergo assisted reproductive technology (ART) programs. Understanding the preventive measures and precautions of COVID-19 during the treatment process is necessary. Health care staff must also understand the importance of proper COVID-19 screening and control measures. This educational activity is in the form of a YouTube live streaming program that can be followed by the general public, including infertile couples who want to know about infertility, examination procedures, COVID-19 screening guidelines, and the TRB program. Education about COVID-19 screening can minimize stigma and enhance public confidence in the screening procedures. The results of this educational delivery make the general public, especially couples who will undergo the ART program, ready and have the ability to undergo COVID-19 testing, services, and screening. In addition, by providing education and implementing effective screening, we can work together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure that people receive quality and safe health services.

Abstract

Background: HBsAg positive pregnant women are responsible for around 50% of the global disease burden. Hepatitis B is caused by inflammation or infection of liver cells caused by the HBV virus. Pregnant women with hepatitis B can experience increased levels of cytokines which then cause pregnancy disorders. This study aims to examine the effect of pregnancy with hepatitis B on the incidence of preterm birth and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). Subjects and Method: This study is a meta-analysis study and a systematic review. The articles used were obtained from several electronic databases including PubMed, Science Direct, Research Gate, and Google Scholar. The articles used in this study were articles that have been published from 2012-2022. The keywords to search for articles are as follows Pregnancy AND (“Hepatitis B” OR HBV OR HBsAg) AND (“pregnancy outcome” OR “fetal outcome”) AND (“preterm birth” OR “preterm delivery” OR premature) AND (“gestational diabetes mellitus” OR GDM). The researched article is a complete text with an observational study design. Articles were collected using the PRISMA diagram, and analyzed using the Review Manager 5.4 application. Results: A total of 14 prospective and retrospective cohort studies were analyzed. Articles were originated from China, Hong Kong, France and Botswana. Hepatitis B in pregnancy increased the risk of preterm birth (aOR=1.20; CI 95%=1.09 to 1.33; p<0.001) and gestational diabetes mellitus (aOR= 1.20; CI 95%= 1.12 to 1.28; p<0.001). Conclusion: Hepatitis B in pregnancy increases the risk of preterm birth and GDM significantly.

Abstract

Pregnancy demands increased energy and nutrients to support the growing fetus, making proper nutrition crucial for maternal and fetal health. Macronutrients like protein, fat, and carbohydrates are particularly important for providing energy and aiding in cell growth and development. This study seeks to understand how pregnant women in the Jenangan Subdistrict of Ponorogo Regency, Indonesia, consume macronutrients. A descriptive study in January 2024 in Jenangan Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, was conducted with 40 participants. Using a 24-hour food recall questionnaire, the data were collected through two interviews with pregnant women by enumerators trained in Nutrition with a D3 degree. This approach aimed to ensure accurate data collection and minimize recall bias. Based on the analysis, macronutrient intake levels varies among participants. Approximately 22,5% had adequate protein intake, with 37,5% showing moderate intake, 20%% report in poor intake, and 20% had deficient intake. For fat consumption, 40% met recommended levels, 27,5% had moderate intake, 15% had poor intake, and 17,5 had deficient intake. Notably, carbohydrate intake was deficient in 97.5% of cases. The research results reveal that pregnant women in the Jenangan Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency have moderate protein and fat intake levels, but are significantly lacking in carbohydrates. This underscores the importance of targeted nutritional interventions to improve maternal and fetal health in this population.
