Abstract

The 2018 Lombok earthquake caused great damage and loss to the community and the government, one of which occurred in Dusun Lias, Desa Genggelang, Kecamatan Gangga, Kabupaten Lombok Utara where there was a dispute over state property in the form of land assets. This study aims to explore the root causes of disputes over state property in the form of land assets and describe the steps for resolving state property disputes through a human rights-based persuasive approach. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, meanwhile, data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that the root cause of disputes over state property in the form of land assets originates from the occupation by the local community and the 2018 Lombok Earthquake damaged their homes and then BNPB provided assistance with Earthquake Resistant Houses but the land used was not legally owned. Meanwhile, the dispute resolution steps are carried out through mediation techniques with a persuasive approach while still prioritizing the fulfillment of human rights.

Abstract

The implementation of green business principles has increasingly become a strategic necessity for companies in Indonesia, particularly in response to rising regulatory pressures, global market demands, and the urgent need to safeguard environmental sustainability. Various environmental law instruments—such as the Environmental Protection and Management Act (PPLH), derivative regulations related to Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL), the PROPER performance rating program, and emission standards—provide a legal framework that indirectly drives the transformation of business practices toward greener models. This paper offers an in-depth discussion of the relationship between environmental regulation and the implementation of green business through a review of international and national literature. The discussion covers the dynamics of environmental law enforcement, challenges faced by industries in implementation, the role of green innovation, and Indonesia’s position in regional and global contexts. The findings indicate that the successful implementation of green business relies not only on strict regulations but also on organizational capabilities, technological support, market mechanisms, and government incentives. This study provides both theoretical and practical contributions on how environmental law can steer structural corporate changes toward sustainability.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises play a decisive role in economic development, employment creation, and innovation, yet they remain disproportionately vulnerable to disasters due to limited financial capacity, weak formal governance, and low preparedness levels (Koporcic et al., 2025). The increasing frequency of climate-related hazards, health crises, and supply chain disruptions has transformed disasters into strategic business risks rather than isolated operational events (UNDRR, 2020). Disaster Risk Management has therefore gained prominence not only as an operational safeguard but also as a strategic instrument that enhances organizational resilience and long-term sustainability. This study explores Disaster Risk Management as a strategic tool for strengthening business resilience in Small and Medium Enterprises through an in-depth synthesis of empirical and conceptual literature. Using a qualitative meta-synthesis approach, this research examines how risk identification, preparedness, response, recovery, and adaptive learning collectively shape resilience outcomes in SMEs. The findings demonstrate that SMEs integrating Disaster Risk Management into strategic decision-making exhibit greater adaptive capacity, faster recovery trajectories, and improved business continuity (Sarmiento et al., 2024; Sakijege, 2024). The study contributes to resilience and strategic management literature by repositioning Disaster Risk Management as a dynamic capability that enables SMEs to navigate uncertainty, absorb shocks, and pursue sustainable growth in disaster-prone environments.

Abstract

This study investigates the English language skill needs of students enrolled in the Hotel Management Study Program (HMSP) at SMK Negeri Kesehatan dan Pariwisata Bangkinang, Riau Province, Indonesia. Grounded in the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) framework, the research adopts a descriptive qualitative design; data were collected through structured questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and non-participant classroom observations. Findings reveal that speaking and listening are the most critical competencies for students who will serve as front-line hospitality professionals, particularly in guest-interaction scenarios such as handling reservations, managing complaints, and delivering hotel information. Three principal challenges were identified: difficulties with accent comprehension and pronunciation, limited industry-specific vocabulary, and communication anxiety. These results carry direct implications for ESP curriculum design in vocational secondary schools: learning materials and classroom activities should be systematically aligned with authentic hospitality communication contexts, including role-play simulations grounded in Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), task-based interactions, and extensive listening practice featuring diverse accents. The paper contributes empirical evidence to the literature on needs analysis in ESP vocational education and offers practical recommendations for English teachers and curriculum developers in the Indonesian hospitality sector.
