Abstract

Hands-on, student-centered experiential learning can foster motivation and interest that can develop students' competencies in accommodating skill development, content comprehension, and assimilation of new knowledge. The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation and learning activities of open inquiry assisted by PhET Simulations media. This study uses an observational research design involving 18 grade VIII students. Data collection is carried out by observation. The results of the study showed that the implementation and learning activities using the open inquiry learning model assisted by PhET Simulations media during the three meetings were carried out at all stages and the results of active instruction observation were more dominant. Students are very enthusiastic during learning activities in conducting experiments to complete assignments, and discussions with their groups. Based on this presentation, it can be concluded that the intervention of the open inquiry learning model assisted by PhET Simulations media in the learning process has a great impact on students. Students become active and directly involved in learning, and emphasize direct experience to students so that they can construct knowledge and have an impact on the training of students' proposing action and interpreting result skills. This learning model can be a good alternative for teachers in teaching in the classroom.

Abstract

Seiring dengan tantangan pada era yang semakin maju, tuntutan terhadap proses pembelajaran yang berkualitas terus meningkat sehingga memiliki dampak pada tujuan dan makna pembelajaran. Pembelajaran yang baik menuntut kemampuan guru untuk berinovasi dengan menyediakan media pembelajaran yang menarik, menyenangkan dan berbasis teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan respons siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E berbantuan media Canva. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian survei dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII disalah satu SMP di Surabaya yang berjumlah 24 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket respons siswa yang dibuat secara online melalui web penyedia survei online, yaitu Zoho Forms. Angket respons siswa terdiri dari 12 pernyataan yang dikembangkan dari 6 indikator, yaitu keterlibatan kognitif, keterlibatan emosional, motivasi instrinsik, motivasi ekstrinsik, pengalaman kompetensi dan pengalaman berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persentase angket respons siswa yang diperoleh, yaitu sebesar 91,5%. Jumlah persentase tersebut menunjukkan bahwa respons dari siswa sangat setuju dengan kriteria setiap indikator yang terdapat pada angket respons. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E berbantuan media Canva mendapatkan respons yang sangat positif dari siswa.

Abstract

In the context of modern education, school discipline is no longer viewed merely as a tool to control student behavior, but rather as part of the educational process aimed at shaping students' character and morals. This article aims to examine how school discipline is conceptualized in modern education, compare the effectiveness of repressive approaches with educational approaches, and examine its application based on philosophical, psychological, and sociological foundations. This research uses a literature study method with a conceptual analysis approach, synthesizing findings from academic journals, books, and relevant empirical studies published between 2015 and 2025 regarding disciplinary practices in the school environment. The results of the analysis indicate that a disciplinary approach that emphasizes dialogue, reflection, and relationship restoration is more effective in building long-term behavioral change than an approach that only focuses on sanctions. This study can conclude that effective modern school discipline in the current era is holistic and developmental, requiring consistent, fair implementation and integration with social-emotional learning to foster students' responsibility and self-control in the long term. Abstract

To learn about nature and phenomena, science inquiry skills require a mix of science content knowledge, science process skills, creativity, and critical thinking. Acquiring these skills is typically a goal in fundamental science education because they are required for conducting scientific research. The principal objective of this study was to look for ways in which the use of an experiential learning model combined with peer education can improve students’ science inquiry skills. This intervention study involved 30 eighth grade students in a public Junior High School in Surabaya city. The instruments used were science inquiry skills test and student response questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using normalized change (<c>), scatterplot visualization, and percentage of response questionnaire. All the instruments used in this study had high internal consistency, as indicated by the Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega values that were above the threshold of 0.70. This study revealed that the student who have low pretest score, could reach 4c region, this illustrates that the experiential learning model integrated with peer instruction intervention can and has the potential to have a positive impact on students’ science inquiry skills. It can also show that the experiential learning model integrated with peer instruction can provide student learning satisfaction, so that it can have a positive impact on science inquiry skills.
