Abstract

Purpose – This study examines continuance intention to use artificial intelligence in higher education by integrating system quality, self efficacy in artificial intelligence usage, and artificial intelligence literacy into a post adoption technology acceptance framework. The study clarifies whether sustained use is driven more by technical and usability related evaluations than by literacy alone. Design/methods/approach – A quantitative cross sectional survey was conducted with 324 undergraduate students from the Informatics and Computer Engineering Education and Computer Engineering study programs at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS 4. Findings – Self-efficacy in artificial intelligence usage significantly affected artificial intelligence literacy (β = 0.447, p < 0.001), system quality significantly affected perceived ease of use (β = 0.733, p < 0.001) and perceived usefulness (β = 0.266, p < 0.001), perceived ease of use significantly affected perceived usefulness (β = 0.502, p < 0.001), and perceived usefulness significantly affected continuance intention (β = 0.637, p < 0.001). Artificial intelligence literacy did not significantly affect perceived usefulness (β = 0.072, p = 0.093). Research implications/limitations – The findings are limited by the cross-sectional design, self-reported data, and the focus on two technology-oriented study programs in one university. Originality/value – This study contributes a focused post-adoption explanation of sustained artificial intelligence use by showing that continuance is shaped more strongly by system performance and perceived academic value than by artificial intelligence literacy alone.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of web-based learning media in the Artificial Intelligence course at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Makassar. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with a mixed methods approach. Media development integrates ADDIE, 4D, and Borg and Gall models which include the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination stages. The research design used the Nonequivalent Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. The research subjects consist of 42 validators of material experts, validators of media experts, and 42 students of Electrical Engineering Education class of 2024 and 298 students of Informatics and Computer Engineering Education class of 2024. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and experiments, while data analysis used validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistical analysis, and N-Gain Hake tests. The results show that web-based learning media is in the very valid category with a percentage of media expert assessment of 93.5% and material expert of 95%. The level of practicality of media is also in the category of very practical based on the aspects of ease of use, appearance, technical quality, and usefulness. In addition, the results of the effectiveness test showed a significant increase in learning outcomes in the experimental group compared to the control group with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and supported by an N-Gain value which showed the effectiveness of media in improving student understanding. Thus, the web-based learning media developed is declared valid, practical, and effective so that it is suitable for use as a learning innovation in higher education.

Abstract

Purpose – Despite the growing use of artificial intelligence in higher education, prior studies have focused more on initial adoption than on continuance intention, while the role of AI literacy in sustaining AI use remains underexplored. This study examines an integrative model linking AI literacy, perceived usefulness, attitude toward using AI, behavioral intention, and continuance intention in AI-supported learning. Methods – A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 324 students from the Educational Informatics and Computer Engineering and Computer Engineering programs at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data were collected from January to February 2025 using a 25-item Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed with PLS-SEM in SmartPLS 4 using bootstrapping with 10,000 subsamples.Findings – All hypothesized relationships were significant: AI literacy → perceived usefulness (β = 0.449, p < 0.001), AI literacy → attitude toward using AI (β = 0.177, p < 0.001), perceived usefulness → attitude toward using AI (β = 0.686, p < 0.001), attitude toward using AI → behavioral intention (β = 0.757, p < 0.001), and behavioral intention → continuance intention (β = 0.800, p < 0.001). Research implications – The cross-sectional design, self-reported data, purposive sampling, and single-institution context limit causal inference and broader generalizability.Originality – This study extends TAM by positioning AI literacy as a competence-based antecedent within a post-adoption sequence that explains continuance intention through perceived usefulness, attitude, and behavioral intention. Practically, the findings suggest that sustainable AI integration in higher education requires not only access to AI tools but also structured support for students’ AI literacy.

Abstract

Purpose – Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in higher education, yet sustained use remains insufficiently explained by adoption-centered models that primarily emphasize direct effects. This study examines continuous AI use among university students by integrating perceived enjoyment, effort expectancy, trust in artificial intelligence, and AI self-efficacy within a parallel-mediation framework. Methods – A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 247 undergraduate students who reported varying levels of AI use in academic contexts. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess direct and indirect relationships. Findings – Perceived enjoyment (β = 0.386) and effort expectancy (β = 0.363) significantly predicted continuous AI use, with perceived enjoyment showing the stronger direct effect. AI self-efficacy significantly mediated both relationships, particularly the effect of effort expectancy (β = 0.297). By contrast, trust significantly mediated only the perceived enjoyment pathway (β = 0.196), while its mediating role in the effort expectancy pathway was not supported under the conventional significance criterion. Research Implications -The study suggests that higher education institutions should strengthen students’ AI self-efficacy while designing AI-supported learning environments that are both intuitive and engaging. Originality - The study contributes to post-adoption AI research by clarifying the relative mediating roles of self-efficacy and trust, highlighting that AI self-efficacy is a more robust mechanism than trust in sustaining AI use among university students.

Abstract

The purpose of implementing Peer Counseling Training for students is to provide knowledge and skills on how to conduct peer counseling and to instill an understanding that peer counseling is a form of social support for fellow students. The training method employs structured learning with the stages of preparation, assessment, implementation, and evaluation (3PE). The training activities were attended by 26 student representatives who would subsequently provide support to new students. The outcomes of the training indicate that students are capable of understanding the benefits and stages of implementing peer counseling through the conducted simulations. Evaluation results demonstrate that students comprehend that the execution of peer counseling serves as a form of social support for their fellow students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the School Field Introduction Program II (PLP II) on the readiness of Language Education and Sports Coaching Education students to become professional teachers. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of the study consisted of students participating in PLP II from three study programs. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that PLP II had a significant effect on improving students’ readiness to become teachers, especially in pedagogical competence, classroom management, communication skills, leadership, self-confidence, and learning evaluation. Language education students experienced improvement in communication skills, literacy-based learning, and interactive teaching methods. Meanwhile, sports coaching education students showed increased competence in managing field practice, discipline, leadership, and physical learning strategies. However, several obstacles were still found, such as limited practice time, differences in mentor guidance quality, and unequal student readiness. Overall, PLP II was considered effective in preparing prospective teachers through direct teaching experience in schools and helping students adapt to real educational environments.
