Abstract

This study examines the role of academic supervision in enhancing teaching quality at SMA Negeri 1 Banyuasin I, addressing observed deficiencies in teacher performance through principal-led supervisory practices. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, data was collected through triangulated methods including classroom observations (12 sessions), in-depth interviews (with 1 principal, 8 teachers, and 15 students), and document analysis of 20 lesson plans and supervision records over one academic semester. Findings demonstrate that academic supervision significantly improves teaching quality (evidenced in 78% of observed cases), though current practices overemphasize evaluative inspection rather than developmental guidance. Key outcomes include measurable improvements in pedagogical competence (23% increase in lesson plan quality scores) and classroom management skills. This study introduces a competency-based supervision framework that uniquely integrates: (1) differentiated supervision approaches tailored to teacher experience levels, and (2) a dual focus on technical skills and emotional intelligence in supervisory practice an underexplored dimension in existing literature. The research suggests three actionable strategies for school leaders: implementing cyclical supervision with pre-observation conferences and formative feedback; developing supervisory competency through targeted training in coaching techniques; and establishing professional learning communities to sustain improvement. The study makes dual contributions by: (1) advancing theoretical understanding of effective supervision through its emotional intelligence dimension, and (2) providing an evidence-based model for improving supervisory practices in similar educational contexts. Results indicate this approach could increase teaching effectiveness by up to 35% when fully implemented.

Abstract

Purpose — The study aimed to examine the impact of financial performance, good corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility on the value of SRI Kehati index companies during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically from 2020 to 2022.Method — This study employs a causal quantitative analysis approach to determine the cause-and-effect relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Data were collected from the annual reports and sustainability reports of companies listed on the IDX and included in the SRI Kehati index during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis technique used in this study is panel data regression analysis, encompassing multiple companies and years. After data collection, Eviews 12 is used to process the data.Result — The findings of this study indicate that profitability has a significant impact on the value of SRI Kehati index firms. However, leverage, institutional ownership, and corporate social responsibility do not have a significant effect on the value of these companies.Novelty — The originality of this study stems from its sample, which consists of companies included in the SRI Kehati index listed on the IDX. The conclusions of this study also contradict earlier research. Previous studies have found that leverage, institutional ownership, and corporate social responsibility significantly impact firm value. However, in this study, these three factors did not affect company value.

Abstract

The integration of financial technology (fintech) with Islamic financial planning presents both opportunities and challenges in the rapidly evolving financial landscape. This study aims to develop a conceptual framework for implementing fintech solutions in Islamic financial planning while ensuring Shariah compliance. Through a comprehensive literature review, we identify five core processes essential for successful integration: identification of target groups and Shariah- compliant practices, customer awareness and engagement, standardization of Shariah-compliant operations, technological innovation implementation, and continuous evaluation and improvement. The research reveals that while Indonesia's large Muslim population presents significant growth potential for Islamic fintech, several challenges persist, including limited regulatory frameworks, inadequate human resources, and the need for standardized Shariah compliance measures. The study contributes to the existing literature by proposing a structured framework that can guide financial institutions, regulators, and fintech developers in creating effective, Sharia-compliant financial planning solutions. This framework addresses the growing need for accessible Islamic financial services while maintaining religious principles in an increasingly digital financial ecosystem.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and moral values from an early age. However, instructional approaches in IRE remain dominated mainly by lecture-based methods, which tend to result in passive learning and decreased student engagement. This issue is particularly evident in Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools, where conventional teaching strategies often fail to stimulate students' interest, ultimately leading to low learning outcomes. To address this challenge, there is a need for innovative and participatory learning strategies, such as the role-playing method. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing role-playing as an instructional strategy to enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in Islamic Religious Education. A qualitative case study approach was employed at SDIT Al-Halimiyah, Jakarta. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data analysis involved three main stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that role-playing significantly increases active student participation, strengthens their understanding and retention of religious concepts, and fosters the development of confidence, empathy, and social awareness. Furthermore, students demonstrated higher enthusiasm and comprehension when learning was delivered through experiential and interactive methods. These results suggest that role-playing can be an effective alternative instructional strategy in Islamic Religious Education, promoting active learning and contributing to the overall quality of religious education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The article explores the development of social intelligence in Islamic education. In this period, Islamic education tended to be oriented only to cognitive and affective aspects but hardly to psychomotor ones. This shows that many students cannot interact with their environment. This article argues that the development of social intelligence in Islamic education under the guidance of KH. MA. Sahal Mahfudh focuses more on the aspects of social intelligence that are included in the idea of social fiqh. The findings suggest that the idea of social fiqh KH. MA. Sahal Mahfudh is the most essential foundation for the development of students' social intelligence. In this case, the development of social intelligence is displayed through social sensitivity, social insight, and social communication. Through education that focuses on social sensitivity, social knowledge and social communication, Kiai Sahal has created a strong foundation for developing aspects of social intelligence in the context of Islamic education in Indonesia. The concrete form of social intelligence development carried out by Kiai Sahal is reflected in the formulation of intellectual, social-community education, organizational education, sports and health education, and skills education. Applying the idea of social fiqh, Kiai Sahal in Islamic education should be a model and a new paradigm for developing social intelligence in learners.

Abstract

The presence of diverse religions, groups, and cultures in schools highlights the need for an inclusive Islamic learning model that actively instills values of tolerance. This study critically examines the implementation of Inclusive Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in two contrasting schools in Malang City: SMA Taman Harapan, characterized by interfaith diversity, and MAN 2 Malang, characterized by intra-Islamic diversity. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a multiple-case study design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. Results indicate that Islamic Religious Education teachers in both settings employ inclusive strategies—such as interactive dialogue, problem-based learning, contextual teaching, and project-based learning—that effectively foster mutual respect, enhance religious tolerance, and counteract radicalism among students. Ultimately, this research asserts that inclusive Islamic Religious Education is essential for strengthening tolerance and combating radicalism, presenting a viable model for humanistic and tolerant religious education in diverse school environments. The study substantially contributes empirical evidence by demonstrating the practical benefits of inclusive approaches in varying contexts, moving beyond normative claims to real-world educational impact.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the individual and combined influence of work motivation and work discipline on the performance of civil servant (ASN) teachers in public junior high schools across Palembang City. Employing a quantitative survey approach, data were collected from a sample of 103 ASN teachers. Work motivation was measured using Porter and Lawler’s theory, work discipline via Malayu S.P. Hasibuan’s indicators, and teacher performance was assessed based on PermenPAN-RB Number 6 of 2022. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression in SPSS 26.0. The analysis revealed that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (regression coefficient = 0.360, t-value = 4.880, p-value = 0.000). Conversely, work discipline demonstrated a negative and insignificant effect (regression coefficient = -0.154, t-value = -1.697, p-value = 0.093). Simultaneously, both variables significantly influenced performance (F-value = 12.045, p-value = 0.000), with the model explaining 19.4% (R-squared = 0.194) of the variance in performance. This research provides a novel empirical contrast by simultaneously testing established motivational theory (Porter and Lawler) against a disciplinary framework (Hasibuan) within the specific context of Indonesian civil servant teachers, revealing the unexpected and paradoxical finding that discipline, as measured, may not positively correlate with performance. School administrators should prioritize strategies that enhance intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, such as recognition and career development opportunities. The findings suggest that traditional punitive approaches to enforcing discipline may be counterproductive; instead, a re-evaluation of disciplinary policies towards supportive and empowering frameworks is recommended. This study contributes to educational management literature by highlighting that motivation is a more potent driver of teacher performance than discipline in this context. It provides policymakers and school leaders with evidence-based insights to design more effective professional development and performance management systems that focus on motivational factors.
