Abstract

Analysis of Artifical Dyes Rate on The Jam Branded Bread and Jam Unbranded Jam Bread on Medan City for 2013. Jam bread is a popular product of snack to eat with variously types, have a prominenly colors, that many people like it. In order to attract the consumer mostly product may cause a dangerous impact over the human health. To view whether the uses of the artificial dyes on jam bread fulfilling the requirement for health.The method used study in survey research with descriptive one. The sampel taken from Central Market , Simpang Limun Market, Indomaret in Sakti Lubis Road and Carrefour in Plaza Medan Fair at Medan City, bring it to Provincial Health Laboratory in North Sumatra for examination.The result showed that from 6 samples of jam bread branded and in examination found that 4 samples contained artifical dyes as permitted that is Amaranth and Tartrazine, and another 6 samples of jam bread non-branded in examination, 3 samples containing artificial dyes as permitted that Amaranth and Tartrazine. The rate noted on 6 samples of jam branded bread found at least 2 samples not fulfilling the requirement that is 346 mg/kg, 205 mg/kg and 1 sample of jam non-branded bread not fulfilling the requirement that is 295 mg/kg.It is suggested to Balai POM is seriously to make a strictly control and supervision into the uses of additional substances for producing foods. Abstract

Egg in half cooked food prepared by boiling an egg approximately 5 minutes in order to get high protein from the eggs. Eggs can contain bacteria harmful food called Salmonella sp. Because of that the authors consider it necessary to conduct research on analysis of Salmonella sp. the food half cooked eggs. The purpose of this study is to find out about the analysis of Salmonella sp. the food half-cooked eggs are sold in the village Samanhudi Hamdan Maimoon Medan Medan District. The method used in this study is a descriptive to see observations and laboratory analysis to determine the content of the bacteria Salmonella sp. the food half cooked eggs. The results showed that in a sample of 10 egg mixture before brewed with hot water, 2 of 10 samples found to be contaminated with Salmonella sp eggs. Meanwhile, mix eggs for 10 samples, after brewed with hot water, discovered the bacterium Salmonella sp. Sp salmonella bacteria content in food is expected to meet the standards that refer to SNI 01-6366-2000 that is negative or zero (0). The conclusion of this study indicate that the bacterial content in foods by processing existing health ineligible because eggs contain bacteria that were previously brewed still contain bacteria after Salmonella sp. Eggs containing bacteria probably caused long storage and processing methods that do not meet the standards. The expected need for supervision and counseling to the holding of merchants by the local government on the importance of food processing eggs and to increase efforts to restructure the food so that the food received eggs already qualified healthcare consumers. Abstract

One of the health effort the society is preparing the facilities basic sanitation. Latrine healthy is an important part in preventing transmission of infection diseases originating from feces. For it, important to reck the factors associated with the use of latrines.This study aims to determine the factors associated with the utilization of latrine bucket at the Village Deli Sub Chart Medan Belawan in 2013.This type of research is a cross sectional analytic design. The population in this study were 393 families who have a latrine bucket with a sample of 100 respondents is by systematic sampling methods. Statistical test used was exact fisher test with confidence level p <0.05. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with the utilization of the bucket latrine in the Village Deli Sub Terrain Chart Belawan. The research method used is analytic cross sectional design. The sample was a family who has a latrine bucket of 100 respondents, results showed that the variables that have a relationship with the utilization of the bucket latrine is knowledge (P = 0.001), attitude (P = 0.012), education (P = 0.001), the condition of latrines (P = 0.001), water supply (P = 0.020) health (P = 0.001), and the role of community leaders (P = 0.001). Statistical analysis using exact fisher test. Conclusions of this study are all factors that have a relationship with the utilization of latrine bucket at the Village Deli Sub Chart Medan Belawan, namely knowledge, attitudes, education, latrine conditions, the role of health workers and the role of community leaders. It is therefore recommended need increased knowledge, improvement bucket latrine conditions, availability of clean water, as well as an increase in the role of health workers and community leaders in order to increase the utilization of latrine bucket. Abstract

School Health Unit was a health improvement program located in schools with the aim of increasing Clean and Healthy Life Behaviour students. Without a Clean and Healthy Life Behaviour students more easily exposed to diseases such as diarrhea and worm infestation. It can reduce student ability to receive their lessons.This study aims to determine there was difference or not in students knowledge, attitudes and practice about Clean and Healthy Life Behaviour in the school who had and hasn’t had School Health Unit.Research site was in Medan. Population in this study were class III-V in a elementary school who had School Health Unit and a elementary school who hasn’t had School Health Unit, the samples were 70 students from each school. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. Data was obtained by questionnaires and interviews, analyzed using the T test for normally distributed data and Mann Whitney test for data not normally distributed.The research results showed that basic sanitation score mean were 15, basic sanitation in a school who had School Health Unit was good with score 14 and a  school who hasn’t had School Health Unit was good too with score 16, implementation of School Health Unit in a school who had School Health Unit was good, and there are differences (p ≤ 0.05) in students knowledge(p=0,001), attitudes (p=0,001) and practice (p=0,001)about Clean and Healthy Life Behaviour in a school who had and hasn’t had School Health Unit.Based on the results of the study, concluded that there are differences in students knowledge, attitudes, and actions about Clean and Healthy Life Behaviour in the school who have School Health Unit and a school who hasn’t had School Health Unit. For recommendation in this research it is expected that the school without School Health Unit make cooperation with local goverment clinic to opening School Health Unit.

Abstract

The hygiene and sanitation of food processing and flies density at the eatery in the traditional market Pasar Horas Pematangsiantar 2013. Eatery is a commercial bussines that provides food and beverage for public society. Food sanitation hygiene purpose is managing food of avoiding to become source of disease. This research aims to find out about hygiene of Eatery in Pasar Horas Pematangsiantar city according to the staff character, sanitation hygiene principal of food processing, food delivery, finished food storing , food servicing, sanitation facility and the measurement of flies density. This research is a descriptive reseach that explain the sanitation hygine of food management which the datas are obtained by observing and analyzed based on exist theory namely Kepmenkes Ri No. 1098/Menkes/SK/VII/2003 about the required condition the healthy of eatery and restaurant, and measurement of flies density by using Fly Grill and adjusted with interpretation according to health department. This research shows that most of responden education is High school (76.5 %),  according to >15 years trading period (47%), 2 to 3 labour of food processing (70.6 %). Applying the sanitation hygiene including food material (100%) has fullfilled the require needed, the other has not fullfilled the requirement incluidng food material storing, food processing, finished food storing, food delivery, food servicing and sanitation facility. Most of the processor and waiter have not fullfilled the principal of food processing. The density of flies (58.8%) is in the medium level (3-5) and the further research need to be done to find out the breeding place. According to the result of the research, it is suggested to do some training and counceling about the hygiene and sanitation in eatery to be better for healt. Abstract

The relation of rainfall, temperature, humidity, population density and area of settlement with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF)cases in Malang during the period of 2002-2011. DHF was a public health problem in Indonesia. Malang was endemic dengue area located in the highlands. Environmental conditions was one of DHF cases risk factors. This study aims to know the relationship among rainfall, temperature, humidity, population density and area of settlement with the incidence of DHF. Research sites in Malang was done by collecting data recorded from the years 2002-2011 from the relevant institutions.The design of this research was time trend ecological study which the unit of analysis is per month and per year during ten years. Data analysis was performed by using univariate, bivariate analysis using correlation and simple linear regression and multivariate analysis using multiple linear regression.The results were statistically showed that the air temperature per year (r=0.705) and area  of settlement (r=0.750) correlated significantly with DHF cases per year with p<0.05, while rainfall, humidity, and the population density did not correlate significantly. Humidity per month ( r=0.618) correlated significantly with DHF cases per month while temperature and rainfall did not correlate significantly. Multivariate analysis predicted that the land area of settlement affected the number of DHF cases as 1,978.Based on the research results, it was concluded that the temperature of the air and  area of settlement correlated significantly with DHF cases per year. While the humidity significantly correlated significantly with DHF cases per month. Government intersectoral collaboration should be enhanced to prevent and eradicate the DHF cases due to environmental changes affected the spread of dengue cases.

Abstract

Abstract Analysis the waste management system and trader’s behaviour at Horas Market Pematangsiantar city in 2013.Waste is any materials unused and rejected as worthless or unwanted, useless or profitless activity, expanding and consuming thoughtlessly or carelessly. Subsequent increased of human activitis impact to the increasis of waste. Worse system of waste management will give negative health effects and reduce the quality of urban environment. Therefore it is needed a research to investigate waste management system at Horas Market in Pematangsiantar city. The main purpose of this research is to analoge the waste management system and trader’s behaviour at Horas Market in 2013. The research used descriptive survey method and the population was whole trader’s at Horas Market about 1.219 people with 95 people as sample size. This research used stratified random sampling method by grouping trader’s based on the trader’s group. The resulted of this research showed that most of respondents were female (53,7%), between age of 25-35 years old (36,8%), based on education background were 66,3% senior high school. The waste storage bins at Horas Market is not sufficient. The knowledge level of the respondents in Horas Market in managing waste mostly good category (60,0%). The respondents attitude was mostly manage the waste in good category about 85,3%. The respondents action in managing waste was medium category (76,8%) and good category about 16,8%. Therefore, the government is expected to give more attention and provide the facilities of waste storage bins based on the number of waste generation. Market official is expected to increase the waste transportation and the number of sanitation workers also give the information to the trader’s about a good waste management. All trader’s are expected to provide the storage bins and increase their knowledge,  their attitude and their action about good waste management. Abstract

Coal briquette been an solid fuel made from coal, solid fuel is alternative fuel or constituting a substitute kerosene the cheapest and predicted to developed in mass in a relatively short time considering technology and equipment used relatively simple. Sulfur dioxide gas is preeminently resulting from the burning fossil fuels such as coal. Research aims to know levels gas SO2 and complaint respiratory on society around food industry light that uses coal briquette in the Bakaran Batu village burnt stone sub-district Batang Kuis district Deli Serdang. The design of research is descriptive. Population in this research of 180 the housewife in hamlet 1 and 2. Samples totaled 58 people housewife with used technique the sample in simple random sampling. The object of the research was done. Data were analyzed by descriptive in the form of tables and narratives. The result showed that respondents from > 40 years ( 37.9 % ), the level of education highest is sma ( 56,9 % ), respondents have been living in the village of burnt offering stone > 20 years ( 53,4 % ). On the basis of the results obtained a picture that the level of air pollution by SO2 on the settlement near the snacks industry light that uses coal briquette in the village of burnt offering stone sub-district Batang Kuis value at the average of 52,27 µg/m3, Means levels of sulfur dioxide measured is still qualify in quality standards according to PP RI No.41 1999 that is, ( 900 µg/m3). The conclusion of this research is gas SO2 in the air ambient on snacks industry in the Bakaran Batu village of burnt offering stone does not exceed quality standards. The result analysis of data that respondents describe that experience complaints of the respiratory tract as many as 39,7%. Abstract

Waste is something material or solid objects that are no longer used by humans and discarded. Worse system of waste management can be a negative impact on health. In addition to infecting the skin, the disease can be congenital garbage worm infections. One of the people at risk for skin disorders and intestinal worms are officers garbage. It is necessary to know the relationship between personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer in 2012. This research is analytic survey research to a sample of 45 respondents were selected by simple random sampling method. The method used was interviews using questionnaires and took examinations on faecal worm respondent. The results showed that all respondents have good personal hygiene in the category so that data analysis can not be done. Fisher's exact test results, there was no significant relationship between the use of personal protective equipment with complaints of skin disorders (p = 0.321) and worms (p = 0.613). The Sanitation Department is expected in order to further improve sanitation and provide personal protective equipment for transporter officer. Also expected to cooperate with the Health Department in an effort to educate officers about personal hygiene and the using of personal protective equipment at work so they do not pay attention to personal hygiene and disease associated with waste.   Key Words: Personal Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment, Complaint of Skin Disorders, Worms

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diarrhea caused sickness and death in development country. Diarrhea is one of public heath problem Indonesia because diarrhea diseases included in the 10 diseases chich often caused high morbidity and mortality rates.This study aimed to describe the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage), the density of flies and solid waste treatment with the incidence of diarrhea in sukaramai flats. Correlation beetwen the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage), the density of flies and solid waste treatment with the incidence of diarrhea in sukaramai flatsThe type of study was analytic survey with cross sectional design. The sample of this study was 44 house wives who have a trash can on the house and this study conducted to sukaramai flats II Kecamatan Medan  Area Kota Medan. Sample taken by Purposive sample methode. The results showed that the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage) already qualified. The density of flies was low (0-2), so it doesn’t be a problem. But solid waste management still not qualified. There was  significant relationship between water supply (p=0,001),  the density of flies (p=0,001) with the incidence of diarrhea. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between sewerage (p=0,297), solid waste treatment (p=1) with the incindence of diarrhea. The hygiene sanitation ( water supply and sewerage) already qualified, but solid waste treatment aren’t qualified yet. Meanwhile, the density of flies was low. It suggested to people who live in sukaramai flats to keep the environment clean. Keyword : Diarrhea, water supply, sewerage, fly, solid waste.
