Abstract

Argumentation skills and positive attitudes toward physics are important aspects of 21st-century learning, but are still relatively low among Indonesian students. This study aims to improve these two aspects through the application of the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) learning model integrated with Islamic science. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles on grade XI students of MAN 1 Pekanbaru with harmonic vibration material. The instruments used included attitude questionnaires, argumentation questions, observation sheets, and learning tools. Data were collected through observation and tests. The results showed a significant increase in teacher and student activities, attitudes toward physics, and students' argumentation skills. Learning activities developed from the Good to Very Good category. Attitudes toward physics increased from low to high and very high categories. Argumentation skills, which were initially classified as underdeveloped, became good to very good. These findings indicate that the ADI model integrated with Islamic science is effective in increasing student engagement and the quality of physics learning.

Abstract

This article reported design of FBG Sensor layered by 2D Graphene Material. In this research, the FBG was coated with single layer graphene material, then the outher FBG has been coated with Aluminium, Chromium Oxide, PMMA, and Silica. The finite element method was used to analyze the profile  of each coated-FBG with a thickness of 20 µm. Furthermore, the sensitivity of each designed coated-FBGs for the temperature measurement was calculated in the range of 25 oC – 300 oC. Design and analysis of coated FBG found that the FBG coated with graphene then layered by PMMA material has the highest sensitivity of 406.4 pm/℃. Although the sensitivity was 395.73pm/℃ for PMMA material. It was followed by Aluminium coating material which yields the sensitivity of 71.367pm/℃. The Silica and Chromium oxide yield the same sensitivity of 13.73pm/℃. Furthermore, the simulation results shows that the design of coated FBGs with a Gaussian apodization has the narrowest FWHM width of 1.3 nm. While the Tanh and Uniform apodization yield FWHM width of 3.724 nm and 3.732 nm respectively. Certainly, the best FBG design for high temperature sensor was proposed by FBGs coated by graphene and layered with PMMA material with Gaussian apodization

Abstract

This research utilized the Physics at School application to utilize the Learning Cycle 8E model to explain students' conceptual mastery in class X SMA and identify any disparities in conceptual mastery for students in class X SMA. This kind of research uses a quantitative Nonequivalent Post-Test Control Group Design research design and a Quasi-Experimental research method. This research was performed at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Kuantan. The aims of this research was to implement the Learning Cycle 8E model with assistance from the Physics at School program. In contrast, the second class uses conventional learning techniques as a control class. The data used in this research were concept mastery scores obtained from students who had learned physics using the Learning Cycle 8E model with assistance from the Physics at School program. Based on a descriptive and inferential examination of the data, it was found that the experimental class students' level of concept mastery increased by 73.08 points, while the control class was 69.70. Certainly, Learning Cycle 8E model, which is supported by the Physics at School application, has an impact on how well SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Kuantan children understand certain concepts.

Abstract

Learning physics, especially rotational dynamics, is often difficult for many students because of the complexity of the concepts and abstract approach. In situations like this, conventional physics learning often encounters obstacles to providing in-depth understanding to students. Transformation in the world of education is becoming increasingly important, significantly increasing student motivation in studying physics so that it can improve students' performance. To address this issue, open-source blended learning materials that include problem-based learning (PBL) in the Rotational Dynamics curriculum must be developed. The goals of this study are to identify the phases involved in the creation of learning media; identify appropriate standards for learning media; and assess the usefulness of the learning media under development. The development model known as ADDIE is the process utilized for development. Four experts validated the blended learning media developed and underwent revisions to obtain suitable results. This research shows that: the learning materials created have been deemed legitimate and fit for use in the educational process, with a very high category; The application of the learning materials created is user-friendly and practical, also with a very high category.

Abstract

Learning to Support the Implementation of Concepts for Real-World Problem Solving can be achieved by applying outcome-oriented learning that produces products as problem-solving solutions. Design Thinking is a strategy that can be utilized to support the achievement of these goals. This research aims to specifically examine the stages and characteristics of design thinking as a learning strategy oriented towards enhancing creativity. This research is a literature review study conducted using the narrative review method. The source of information used is secondary data in the form of literature related to design thinking in international journals. The literature selected is deemed capable of addressing the research questions. The results of this study indicate that design thinking is a learning process that can foster creativity. Design thinking involves a divergent thinking process in the problem-finding stage (empathy and design) and ideation. Creativity in both problem-finding and ideation resides in the realm of creative thinking. Problem-finding refers to the process of discovering various ways to obtain information about users. Ideation refers to the process of generating various solutions to solve user problems. Various literature studies demonstrate the role of design thinking in generating creative ideas and products to solve problems.

Abstract

The use of Single Mode Fiber Bragg Grating (SMFBG) has been increasing in recent years due to its compact size, low cost, fast response and immunity to electromagnetic interference. It is commonly integrated into medical devices for long-distance light transmission and collection due to its high flexibility, low propagation loss, compatibility and tolerance to electromagnetic interference. SMFBG is a device made of thin glass material that is used as a medium for transmitting information in the form of light signals sourced from lasers or LEDs from one location to another. It consists of 3 main components, namely core with a certain grating, blanket (cladding) and jacket (coating). The advantage of optical fiber is that the data when transmitted is converted into light so as to reduce the risk of data damage. Other advantages include very small size, minimal interference with electromagnetic waves, resistance to temperature changes, attenuation when the transmission process is small enough, and large enough bandwidth. The orientation of this literature review is to understand the concept of optical fiber, the concept of reflection and refraction, and how light propagates in optical fiber.

Abstract

The research aims to describe students' thinking skills in the guided discovery learning model assisted by PhET media. The design used is a quasi- experimental: Posttest only control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMA Negeri 2 Koto Kampar Hulu Academic Year 2021/2022 with a sample of 52 students consisting of class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class totaling 28 students and class XI MIPA 2 as a control class. totaling 24 students. The data collection instrument was a test of critical thinking skills on stationary and running wave material consisting of 10 multiple choice questions. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis through the average value of students critical thinking skills and inferential analysis through the normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing with the help of the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that learning became more effective as seen from the average score - the average thinking skills of students in the experimental class were better than the control class and there were significant differences in students' critical thinking skills between the experimental class that applied the PhET media-assisted guided discovery learning model and the control class.
