Abstract

Effective management of School Operational Assistance (Bantuan Operasional Sekolah—BOS) funds remains a major challenge in school financial governance, particularly within decentralized education systems characterized by bureaucratic constraints. This study examines how participatory principal leadership contributes to the optimization of BOS fund management at SD Negeri Malaworsai. A qualitative single-case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving the principal, BOS treasurer, teachers, and school committee members. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal four interconnected dimensions of effective BOS fund management: participatory planning, transparency and accountability, supportive supervision, and adaptive leadership. Participatory planning enabled stakeholders to contribute to budget prioritization, while transparency strengthened institutional trust and accountability. Supportive supervision promoted compliance and organizational learning, whereas adaptive leadership helped the school respond to funding delays, regulatory changes, and administrative demands. The findings also indicate that stakeholder participation requires continuous negotiation and coordination to balance competing interests under limited financial resources. This study proposes the Participatory Financial Governance Model, which explains how participation, accountability, supervision, and adaptive leadership interact to enhance financial governance, institutional resilience, and educational quality. The findings contribute to educational leadership and school financial governance literature by demonstrating that effective BOS fund management depends not only on regulatory compliance but also on the principal’s ability to integrate collaborative and adaptive leadership practices.

Abstract

Organizational culture has been widely recognized as a critical factor in educational effectiveness; however, limited research has examined how it functions as a managerial system within Islamic schools. This study aims to analyze the role of organizational culture in educational management and to compare its implementation in two Islamic secondary schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia: SMA SahabatQu Fullday School and MAN 1 Yogyakarta. A qualitative multiple-case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving principals, vice principals, teachers, and students. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that organizational culture functions not merely as an institutional identity but as a management system that shapes planning, organizing, implementation, and control processes. SMA SahabatQu applies a highly structured cultural approach grounded in Qur’anic values, intensive mentoring, and systematic monitoring, while MAN 1 Yogyakarta adopts a more adaptive approach that integrates Islamic values, local wisdom, and dialogic leadership. The study also reveals that religious and cultural practices contribute to students’ educational experiences by fostering a sense of belonging, social cohesion, and personal development. Based on the cross-case analysis, two conceptual models are proposed: the Prescriptive-Holistic Cultural Model and the Adaptive-Contextual Cultural Model. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic educational management by demonstrating that value-based organizational culture operates through multiple cultural pathways shaped by institutional context, leadership philosophy, and educational goals.

Abstract

The resurgence of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and its emergence as the fourth-largest party in the first general election of 1955 was founded upon a massive and strategic effort. This achievement is particularly notable considering the party’s failure in the 1948 Madiun rebellion, which severely tarnished its reputation and rendered its leaders fugitives. Although the party was not officially disbanded, rebuilding it from such a compromised position was a formidable challenge. This study employs a historical method to analyze the strategies utilized by Dipa Nusantara Aidit in revitalizing the PKI and enabling its active participation in Indonesian politics. The methodological stages include: (1) topic determination; (2) heuristics, involving the collection of relevant data and information; (3) source verification or criticism to assess the validity, authenticity, and credibility of the collected sources; (4) interpretation through analysis and synthesis of data; and (5) historiography, which entails the writing of a historical narrative based on the discovered facts. Under the revolutionary programs led by Dipa Nusantara Aidit as General Secretary, the PKI consolidated its foundation in the 1955 election by securing 39 seats in parliament and 80 seats in the Constituent Assembly. The strategies implemented encompassed party reorganization, the formation of a national front, empowerment of peasants, active support of the government, expansion of educational initiatives, and fostering close relations with President Soekarno and the Indonesian National Party (PNI).

Abstract

The issue of low self-confidence among students in learning activities is a serious concern, as it has a significant impact on active participation, critical thinking skills, motivation, and the courage to express opinions in class. Various approaches have been implemented, but most remain focused on pedagogical approaches in schools without involving the role of parents, particularly fathers. Therefore, this study offers an analysis of the implementation of the “Fathers Accompanying Children to School” (GAMAS) program on the first day of school as an innovative approach to involving fathers in the educational process. The research method used in this article employs a qualitative research method of literature review. The data sources used in this study come from various literature, such as books, mass media or newspapers, and other articles relevant to the research topic. The results of this study indicate that there is a correlation between the “Fathers Accompanying Children to School” (GAMAS) program and the development of students' self-confidence in history learning. Fathers' physical and emotional involvement in school activities directly provides psychological support that strengthens children's self-confidence. Through healthy self-confidence, students will be encouraged to participate more actively and be motivated to engage in learning. The implications of these findings show the importance of collaboration between schools and parents, especially fathers, in creating a learning environment that supports the development of students' character and potential.

Abstract

Kendeng, as one of the natural landscapes in Central Java, provides various resources that are used by the community, especially the Sedulur Sikep, in carrying out their daily lives. However, the use of natural resources as raw materials for cement has sparked the Sedulur Sikep community to reject and resist the Semen company. Therefore, the conflict in the Kendeng region has become one of the environmental histories in Indonesia. The objectives of this article are 1) to analyze the historical dynamics of human-environmental relations in the Kendeng Mountains and 2) to analyze the representation of ecological conflict in the Kendeng Mountains as a conflict at the local and national levels. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method by analyzing secondary data derived from journal articles that will be analyzed using synthetic analysis. We carry out this process to map the historical roots of the conflict and identify patterns of environmental injustice in regional development. Based on the literature review, it can be seen that the conflict in the Kendeng region represents an ecological conflict that impacts the lives of local communities. The resistance carried out by the Sedulur Sikep community is not just an ordinary environmental movement but a demand for ecological and spiritual sustainability of the community. This conflict demonstrates that development without a focus on justice and environmental sustainability can result in ecological crisis and social alienation. In response to this problem, the government must evaluate and design an optimal spatial plan to harmonize development.
