Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is still a public health problem in Indonesia that affects mothers and babies. The government has implemented a supplementation program for iron tablets (IBT) to prevent anemia, but the compliance of pregnant women with these tablets is still low. Various factors, such as lack of awareness, side effects, and mothers’ perceptions of the importance of IBT, contribute to low compliance rates. This study analyzes the impact of the main reasons for not taking IBT on the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). This study used an analytical cross-sectional study design with secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. The independent variable was the main reason for not taking IBT, while the dependent variable was the number of tablets consumed during pregnancy (≥90). Data analysis was performed using correlation and regression. The results showed that the main reasons for not taking IBT were forgetting (30.39%), nausea/vomiting due to pregnancy (21.57%), bad taste and smell (12.60%), and side effects (12.57%). Most pregnant women did not reach the recommended consumption amount, with 60.37% consuming less than 90 tablets. The reason with the most significant influence on compliance was “not yet up to the end of time” (R=0.344, R²=0.117, p=0.030). The main factors influencing compliance of pregnant women in consuming iron tablets were perception of the need for supplements, side effects, and lack of awareness. Increasing education, social support, monitoring strategies, and reminders for consumption are needed to improve pregnant women’s compliance with iron tablets to reduce the incidence of anemia in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sports students face multidimensional pressures from academic demands and physical training, which have the potential to cause chronic stress and impaired recovery if not managed properly. This study aimed to analyze the stress and recovery profiles of sports students based on gender and type of sport (individual/team) using the RESTQ-Sport 76 instrument. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 161 students of the Faculty of Sport Science, Semarang State University. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the RESTQ-Sport 76 and statistically analyzed using t-tests to compare differences based on gender and type of sport. Results: There was no significant difference in stress and recovery levels between male and female students (p>0.05), although males tended to have higher recovery scores. Similarly, there was no significant difference between individual and team athletes. However, sleep and rest quality were identified as critical aspects that need to be improved. Conclusion: Stress and recovery in sports students are influenced by academic and training factors in general, not solely by gender or type of sport. Holistic monitoring and needs-based interventions are recommended to improve the well-being of student athletes.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease whose prevalence continues to increase in Indonesia and the world. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) report, consumption of risky foods such as sweet foods and drinks, fatty/fried foods, salty foods, processed foods, and soft drinks is still high in various community groups. Several studies have shown that consumption of foods high in sugar and fat is closely related to an increase in the incidence of DM. Therefore, an in-depth analysis is needed regarding the pattern of consumption of risky foods as the main factor in the development of DM in Indonesia. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between consumption of risky foods and the incidence of DM in Indonesia based on data from SKI 2023. Method: The method used in this study is quantitative descriptive analysis based on secondary data from SKI 2023 and several related scientific articles. The analysis was conducted using a cross-sectional approach to see the consumption patterns of risky foods in various community groups, and analyzed univariately to determine the consumption of risky foods with the incidence of DM. Results: Consumption of risky foods in Indonesia is still high, especially among children, adolescents, and people with low levels of education. As many as 47.5% of the population consumes sweet drinks every day, while fatty and fried foods are consumed by 37.4% of the population every day. Consumption of risky foods is more common in young age groups, who are at high risk of obesity and prediabetes. In addition, people with low education tend to consume more processed foods and fatty foods than those with higher education. Various interventions are needed to reduce the risk of DM due to unhealthy food consumption patterns.

Abstract

Dengue fever is a health challenge in tropical and subtropical countries. The increase in dengue cases in Indonesia is influented by urbanization, climate change, higher population mobility, and community behavior. This study aims to describe the climate factors, temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind speed, as well as dengue fever cases. This study uses a descriptive observational design with an ecological study approach. The data collection technique used in this study was secondary data in the form of documentation studies by analyzing records of dengue fever case numbers and climate data. The average monthly temperature ranges from 26.8 to 31.3°C, the average monthly humidity ranges from 65.1 to 85.7%, and rainfall fluctuates significantly, with the highest intensity reaching 28.7 mm. Dengue fever cases show a fluctuating trend, with the highest number in 2023 at 541 cases. Climate factors play a role in the dynamics of dengue cases in Semarang City. Temperature and humidity are within the optimal range that supports mosquito breeding and dengue virus transmission. High rainfall allows for puddles of water to form, which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Low wind speeds also facilitate mosquito flight activity.
