Abstract

This research aims at 1) developing interactive media for mathematics learning by using Adobe Flash CS 5 in trigonometry material to enhance students’ learning motivation; 2) recognizing the media quality through validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The used of research design is research and development (R&D) which adapted the steps from Borg and Gall. These steps consist of three steps as introduction, development, and validation. This research shows that the applied media is useable which assessed through aspect of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive learning media. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce virtual mathematics learningmedia based on goodquality of TGT for use in learning mathematics and describe how well the mathematicslearning tools quality which was produced. The quality criteria used refers to the Nieveencriteria, which are valid, practical and effective. The material that was developed was thematerial of plane geometry. This research developed a mathematics learning tool using adevelopment model adapted from the ADDIE development model. The stages that need to bedone to obtain a valid, practical and effective multimedia learning mathematics is requirementanalysis and objective formulation, product design / development, trial, revision and finalproduct study. The experiments included expert trial / expert judgment, small group try-outand field try-out. The field try-out was done on two classes of VIII grade in SMP N 1 Sedayu.The research instrument used was validation sheet, teacher's appraisal sheet, studentassessment sheet, and Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) test. This research produces a qualifiedand viable virtual mathematics learning media. The results showed that multimedia learningmathematics which was developed is valid, practical and effective.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model Cooperative Learning type Team’s Game Tournament (TGT) pada pembelajaran matematika ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan toleransi siswa kelas VIII SMP N 1 Sedayu tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksprerimen semu dengan pre-postest nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP N 1 Sedayu Bantul yang terdiri dari empat kelas. Dari populasi yang ada diambil secara acak dua kelas yaitu VIII A dan VIII C sebagai sampel penelitian. Pembelajaran matematika pada kelas VIII A menggunakan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan pembelajaran pada kelas VIII C menggunakan metode konvensional. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan angket toleransi siswa. Untuk menguji keefektifan pembelajaran dengan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional yang ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa dalam matematika, digunakan analisis one sample t-tes. Perbandingan Keefektifan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional pada pembelajaran matematika yang ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa, data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji T2 hotteling. Uji-t univariat digunakan untuk menentukan pendekatan yang lebih efektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan bahwa (1) penerapan model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT dan metode konvensional dalam pembelajaran matematika efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi dan toleransi siswa, dan (2) Hasil uji lanjut menunjukkan bahwa model Cooperative Learning tipe TGT lebih efektif baik terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis maupun toleransi dibandingkan metode konvensional pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Sedayu.

Abstract

The education sector has a vital role in the advancement of science and technology. One of the technological advances in the education sector is the use of android-based learning media. This study aims to determine students’ response to the use of the Teman Ritma application as a mathematics learning media and the influence of student learning outcomes on student response rates. This research is a quantitative descriptive with research instruments used: an android application, namely Teman Ritma and student response questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 32 students of 7th grade of SMPN 5 Yogyakarta. The sample was divided into two groups. The first group, known as K-1, contains 15 students with good learning outcomes, and the second group, known as K-2, contains 17 students with poor learning outcomes. The results from both groups showed that the response rate of all aspects assessed was very satisfactory and easily operated. This means that students can run the application without difficulty, and students easily get information from the material and do the exercises presented. Based on the student's response, the Teman Ritma application is eligible and practical to use as mathematics learning media. Then from the results of statistical tests, the learning outcomes affect students’ response rate for the learning design aspect. Meanwhile, learning outcomes have no effect on student response rate for operational and visual communication aspects.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was a quasi-experimental study employing the pretest-postest nonequivalent control group design. This study used two groups: experimental group and control group. The research population comprised all year VIII students of SMPN 1 Wates consisting of seven classes. The sample selected by purpose sampling as much two classes that are VIIID and VIIIG. Mathematics instructions in VIIIG used the TGT model and that in VIIID used the conventional model. The data collecting instruments were a questionnaire of students’ learning motivation and test of mathematics problem solving abilities. To know whether there was a different effect between the group taught using the TGT that taught using model and conventional model, the researcher applied the manova test and the dependent sample was tested in order to observe the variable that contributed to the differences. The research results show that (1) there are significant differences in the TGT model and conventional model in terms of learning motivation and mathematics problem solving abilities of the students of SMPN 1 Wates, (2) the TGT model has a positive effect in terms of learning motivation and mathematics problem solving abilities of the students of SMPN 1 Wates.
