Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with a differentiated learning approach on students’ critical thinking skills in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) on the topic of Changes in States of Matter in Grade IV of SD Santo Thomas 2 Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study was motivated by the low level of students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by learning outcomes that had not yet reached the Minimum Learning Achievement Criteria and by teacher-centered instructional practices. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 24 students in the experimental class (IVB) and 24 students in the control class (IVA). Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis included normality testing, homogeneity testing, Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain analysis. The findings revealed that the posttest mean score of the experimental class was 73.31, higher than that of the control class at 62.71. The hypothesis test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Ha was accepted. The N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.60, categorized as moderate, with an effectiveness level of 60.46% (fairly effective). In addition, the questionnaire results showed an average score of 83.11, categorized as very good. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with a differentiated learning approach has a significant effect on improving students’ critical thinking skills in IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students, which are often associated with conventional instruction and the limited use of engaging learning media. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media on fourth-grade students’ mathematics learning outcomes. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed. The sample consisted of 48 students, including 28 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The experimental class was taught using the NHT cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media, while the control class received conventional instruction. The research instrument was a mathematics achievement test administered as a pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using the Lilliefors normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and an Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean post-test score of the experimental class was 87.29, which was higher than that of the control class at 79.40. The t-test result indicated that tcount > ttable, namely 2.840 > 2.010 at the 0.05 significance level. Therefore, the NHT cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media had a significant effect on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This model promoted active participation, individual accountability, group collaboration, and helped students understand mathematical concepts more concretely.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of parental role, the level of students’ character education, and the influence of parental role on the character education of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 067246 Flamboyan Raya Medan in the academic year 2025/2026. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population consisted of 30 fifth-grade students and their parents. Data were collected using questionnaires that had met validity and reliability requirements, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.801 for the Parental Role instrument and 0.799 for the Character Education instrument. Data were analyzed using normality testing, Pearson Product-Moment correlation, t-test, and coefficient of determination analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25.0. The results showed that both parental role and students’ character education were categorized as good, with mean scores of 84.27 and 81.43, respectively. The correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between parental role and students’ character education (r = 0.527; sig. = 0.003 < 0.05). The hypothesis test showed that the calculated t-value was 3.277, which was higher than the t-table value of 2.048, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. The coefficient of determination indicated that parental role contributed 27.77% to students’ character education, while the remaining 72.23% was influenced by other factors. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence of parental role on the character education of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 067246 Flamboyan Raya Medan in the academic year 2025/2026.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of audio-visual-based interactive learning media on physical education learning outcomes of third-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 067246 Medan in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. This study used a quantitative method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 31 third-grade students, determined using a purposive sampling technique. Data on the audio-visual-based interactive learning media were obtained through questionnaires administered to students, while learning outcome data were obtained through pretest and posttest scores on basic locomotor movements. The results showed that student learning outcomes after using audio-visual-based interactive learning media experienced a significant increase. This can be seen from the average pretest score of 55.70 which increased to 80.58 in the average posttest score. In addition, the average score of the student response questionnaire regarding the use of interactive audio-visual-based learning media was 75.06, categorized as very good. The correlation test results obtained a calculated r value of 0.969, greater than the r table of 0.355, indicating a very strong relationship between interactive audio-visual-based learning media and student learning outcomes. Furthermore, the results of the hypothesis test showed that the calculated t was 21.120 while the t table was 2.045 at a significance level of 5%. Thus, the calculated t ≥ t table, so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of interactive audio-visual-based learning media has a positive and significant effect on students' Physical Education (PJOK) learning outcomes in the basic locomotor movement material in grade III of UPT SD Negeri 067246 Medan academic year 2025/2026.
