Abstract

The learning model during the pandemic is still teacher-centered so that most students experience problems in learning science. The purpose of this study was to measure the implementation of guided inquiry assisted by interactive multimedia on scientific literacy skills, learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research is a quasi-study with a non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study amounted to 60 students—the use of samples taken using non-randomized sampling. The experimental class has 30 students, and the control class has 30 students. The method used for data collection is an objective test. The results showed that: first, the scientific literacy ability of the experimental class was better than the control class based on statistical tests of 84.79 (very good) and 76.83 in the control class. Second, student learning outcomes in the experimental class were better than in the control class. It was concluded that the guided inquiry strategy using interactive multimedia had a significant impact on scientific literacy and student learning outcomes used in online science learning for elementary school students during the covid 19 pandemic. The research implication is that the inquiry learning model can be applied in the learning process because it can improve students' understanding.

Abstract

Green chemistry in chemistry learning has been a central issue in chemistry education research the last ten years. The objectives of this literature review are: a) to map green chemistry research topics in chemistry learning the last ten years; b) to find out the opportunity for the implementation of Green chemistry in chemistry learning. The research method used is a systematic literature review of articles published in the scopus journal obtained from the Scopus database for the last 10 years (2011-2021). Article searches use titles, abstracts or keywords that meet logical conditions ("Green Chemistry") or ("Chemistry"). The population of this study was 200 articles published in the Scopus database and the sample used was 19 articles. The findings show that: a) the trend of the most topics discussing green chemistry in organic chemistry by 68% and green chemistry in environmental chemistry by 16%, b) green chemistry provides a very large opportunity in chemistry learning. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of green chemistry in chemistry learning is very important and needed in preventing environmental pollution.

Abstract

Capabilities include competence, self-efficacy; self-confidence; self-discipline; to be responsible; self-initiative; and metacognition and what someone will bring to the workforce. This research strives to analyze the capability preferences of the prospective teacher in terms of learning independence. This descriptive study uses learning methods. Participants in this research were 21 students from the State University in East Java using purposive sampling techniques. The probing question is used as a research instrument. Descriptive data analysis. The consequences of data analysis explained that the ability in the aspect of high score learning skills was 85.4% responsible, 84.1% confidence, and 82.5% self-discipline. The conclusion of this study is the efficacy of the prospective student teacher from the perspective of independence learning shows the quality in the aspects of responsibility, self-confidence, and self-discipline. Nevertheless, the representative of self-establishment shows a lower trend correlated to other guidelines as much as 79.5%, or in other words, the meaning of participants is not optimum concerning their own desire for independence. This study reserves the need for further investigation into efforts to enhance the ability of prospective student teachers in higher education in theoretical and practical examinations. Keywords: Capabilities, Exploration, Learning independence, Promised teachers

Abstract

The abstractness of the chemistry concept can be understood easily through chemistry learning using multiple representations. This article used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to review eleven articles published from 2012 to 2021 and focused on chemistry learning using various representations. The articles are systematically obtained from the online article database ERIC, Scopus, and SINTA. The purpose of a review is to give information to teachers and researchers in chemistry education about the definition of multiple representations, the influence of multiple representations on chemistry learning outcomes, and how to implement various representations in chemistry learning models or strategies. The review results showed that the definition of numerous representations referred to both three levels of chemical representation and the tetrahedral representation of chemistry. Also, it referred to the use of various media. The influence of multiple representations on chemistry learning outcomes included improving concept understanding, improving performance, reducing mental effort, improving self-efficacy, making better cognitive structures, improving mental models, and reducing misconceptions. Multiple representations have also been implemented in several learning models or strategies such as Inquiry, Inquiry 5E, Guided Inquiry, Problem Solving, Thinking, Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS), Problem Posing (PP), Cognitive Dissonance, and Multiple Representation Based Learning (MRL).

Abstract

This study intends to determine (1) the relevance of the practicum e module to the curriculum in chemistry learning; (2) the validity of the chemistry practicum e-module from various applications; and (3) the effectiveness of the application of the Ethnoscience-integrated chemistry practicum e-module in chemistry learning. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using online article databases, namely ERIC and Google Scholar, which are limited to the last 5 years. The articles reviewed were 15 articles according to the topic. The results of the review show that the practicum e-module is in line with the curriculum in chemistry learning. Not to mention, practicum guides that go hand in hand with the times are very essential to be developed so that students can adapt well and learning becomes efficient with the current developing era. So, it is important to develop an electronic integrated practicum guide that creates balance between hard skills and soft skills in the curriculum concept. The validity of the chemistry practicum e-module from various applications in the implementation of online and offline practicum can be accepted by teachers and students, so that the teaching and learning process in proving theories in terms of practicum can be prepared. Especially in the future pandemic crisis, it is necessary to develop students' scientific literacy in terms of content, competence, context, and attitudes that are focused on preparing the next generation of scientific literacy through a culture-based curriculum to produce more contextual learning. Keywords: Ethnoscience approach, E-Module chemical practicum, Chemical learning

Abstract

The implementation of Case-Based learning in chemistry learning has grown rapidly in the last ten years. To find trends and issues in the application of case-based learning in chemistry learning, a systematic review is needed. This study aims to analyze the types of CBL and forms of CBL cases used in chemistry learning. The research method used is a systematic review of articles published in the Scopus journal obtained from the Scopus database for the last 10 years (2011-2021). Search articles using titles, abstracts, or keywords that meet logical conditions (“Case-Based Learning”) or (“Case Method”) and (“Chemistry”). The population of this study was 200 articles published in the Scopus database and the sample used was 93 articles. The findings showed that the CBL learning model has a learning syntax that includes four (4) stages, namely: Case Orientation (determining the object to be tested), Peer Instructions (choosing cases that are relevant to the object being studied), Case Review (building initial theory and reviewing literature), Evaluation (collecting, organizing data, analyzing data and developing conclusions). The CBL model presents complex cases in the form of factual news related to the essence of the problem context in the form of story descriptions and integrates information sources in the context to solve cases. The percentages of the 93 articles analyzed were 32% PBI, 31% PBL, and 30% PJBL. Thus, it can be concluded that CBL learning is implemented in three (3) learning approaches, namely CBL in Inquiry-Based Learning, CBL in Problem Based Learning, and CBL in Project-Based Learning

Abstract

While collaborative problem-based learning (PBL), particularly in Western nations, has been researched and shown to be beneficial in enhancing students' metacognitive skills, it is still sparingly used in Asian nations like Indonesia. This study's goal was to learn more about the potential benefits of cooperative PBL on students' metacognitive skills. The systematic literature review (SLR) research design was used for this study, and the requirements were full text, journal articles, open access, accredited national and international publications between 2010 and 2020, and articles on the role of collaborative PBL in chemistry students' metacognitive development. The findings of the SLR used in this study show that PBL enhances students' metacognitive skills, particularly in chemistry students. The majority of research, however, continues to employ unreliable, nonstandard methods. Therefore, it is believed that this research may be used as supplemental data to acquire in-depth PBL findings.
