Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of the role of Arabic language teachers through the perspective of social language at MTsN 2 Medan. The main focus of this research is to explore the changes in the role of Arabic language teachers, which previously centered solely on teaching the language as a means of religious communication, into a more comprehensive role of connecting students with the language, culture, and values of Islam in a broader context. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with Arabic language teachers, students, and management staff, as well as direct classroom observations. The results of the study show that Arabic language teachers at MTsN 2 Medan have adopted a more interactive and technology-based approach in their teaching. Teachers also play the role of facilitators, not only teaching language but also shaping students' character and social understanding through contextual and relevant learning. Additionally, the study identifies challenges faced by teachers, such as limited facilities and low student motivation towards learning Arabic. However, the transformation of the teacher's role has a positive impact on the quality of learning, enhancing students' language skills, and strengthening their understanding of Islamic values. This study is expected to provide new insights into the development of Arabic language teaching methods that are more relevant to the social and cultural developments of students in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Al-Ma’any Online Dictionary in supporting the development of Arabic vocabulary mastery among students in PBA 2 class at UIN Sumatera Utara. The primary issue observed among students is the lack of optimal utilization of the online dictionary due to certain challenges in its usage. The focus of this research is to explore how students utilize the online dictionary to enrich their vocabulary and its impact on their Arabic language proficiency. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews with students, observations of dictionary usage, and analysis of student assignments. The findings indicate that the Al-Ma’any Online Dictionary is effective in helping students expand their vocabulary, particularly in discovering word meanings and their usage in various contexts. However, some challenges were identified, such as limited understanding of subtle word meanings and dependency on internet connectivity. This study suggests that vocabulary development through the use of online dictionaries can be optimized by providing guidance and further training for students in utilizing the dictionary's features more comprehensively.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe how the journey of the transformation of Arabic language learning in Indonesia, especially on the opportunities and challenges in the digital era that will have an impact on education. The changing times that brought Indonesia to be more developed also made Arabic language learning undergo changes. Arabic, which is present in Indonesia as a religious language, must now also begin to be realized and developed its presence. This research also seeks to reveal how attitudes must be faced when there are challenges of digitalization in the use of Arabic language learning. The author chooses to use a type of qualitative research method through a literature study approach which is then continued by descriptive analysis techniques through the Miles Matthew theory. This theory conducts qualitative research through four approaches, namely: Data collection, data redaction, data presentation and conclusion (presentation of verification). Data acquisition is taken from several sources of literature that match the research theme and then processed with several ideas and thoughts of the author. The results showed that among several opportunities for Arabic language learning in Indonesia in the era of digitalization, namely: The emergence of various online platforms, traditional learning towards application-based learning, a more active and interesting learning experience, then can increase students' interest in learninglearning, As for some of the challenges faced.

Abstract

The skill of reading is referred to as mahārah qirā’ah in Arabic, which is the third skill after mahārah istima’ and mahārah kalām. In the Arabic Language Education program, some students come from non-boarding school backgrounds and may not have studied Arabic extensively before. This condition can present several challenges, especially in reading Arabic texts. The aim of this study is to analyze the factors that contribute to the difficulty in reading Arabic texts among students from non-boarding school backgrounds in the Arabic Language Education program at UINSU, batch 2021. The method used in this study is qualitative research, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews/questionnaires with five students, and a literature review of previous research. The results of this study show that factors affecting the difficulty in reading Arabic texts among non-boarding school students include their educational background, a lack of understanding of nahwu (syntax) and sharf (morphology), insufficient vocabulary mastery, and a lack of interest in learning Arabic. This study reveals these factors in order to raise awareness among educators about the issue and encourage students to improve their skills in learning Arabic.

Abstract

Improving the ability of speaking in Arabic Language Education Study Program is an important aspect in the Arabic language teaching process. Speaking skills are one of the main competencies that students must have, both in academic and social contexts. However, learning to speak in Arabic often faces various challenges, such as fear of public speaking, lack of motivation, and limited opportunities to practice. The purpose of this study is to explore the improvement of Arabic speaking skills from the perspective of students by analyzing various methods applied in learning to speak. The research method used is a qualitative method. The data collection techniques in this study used interview and literature study techniques. Interviews were conducted with informants who were students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program. The literature study technique was used with the aim of reviewing and analyzing various literature related to improving the ability of speaking in Arabic Language Education Study Program. The results of the study indicate that the development of more varied learning methods and providing space for students to practice speaking intensively are very important in supporting the improvement of their speaking skills. For that reason, it is important for the study program management to continue to innovate in creating methods and environments that can encourage students to be more active and confident in speaking Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the challenges in learning Arabic in schools and offer solutions through the Task-Based Learning (TBL) approach, cooperative learning, and the use of digital technology. A qualitative approach is used with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations are conducted to observe the practice of learning Arabic in the classroom, interviews are conducted with teachers, students, and parents to explore their perspectives on the challenges faced, while documentation is used to collect supporting data such as syllabus and evaluation results. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the task-based approach and student collaboration are effective in improving speaking and listening skills, as well as increasing student motivation and engagement. This approach creates a dynamic and relevant learning environment, encouraging students to be more active in using Arabic in everyday life.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peranan psikolinguistik dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab sebagaimana pembelajaran bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa kedua menjadi salah satu mata pelajaran wajib di Indonesia, baik dari tingkat dasar hingga perguruan tinggi, terkhusus pada lembaga pendidikan Islam, namun kajian berbahasa tidak dapat hanya dengan ilmu linguistik tetapi perlu dilengkapi dengan mental atau akal yaitu psikologi. Metode penelitian yang peneliti gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif desktiptif, dengan mengumpulkan data berdasarkan hasil studi pustaka yang berkaitan dengan kajian yang dibahas seperti buku, jurnal ilmiah, artikel dan dokumen lainnya yang mendukung pada penelitian ini, kemudian menjelaskan beberapa data yang telah didapati dan dikemukakan secara jelas. Temuan penelitian ini adalah bahwa psikolinguistik sangat berperan penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab karena psikolinguistik menjadi kunci uatama dalam memahami aspek mental pemakaian bahasa, mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi, dan mengatasi kendala yang mungkin timbul dalam keterampilan berbahasa siswa. Abstract

Kecemasan berbahasa (language anxiety) merupakan kendala utama dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab, terutama bagi pelajar pemula. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor penyebab kecemasan berbahasa dalam konteks keterampilan berbicara. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi faktor internal seperti ketidakpercayaan diri, ketakutan membuat kesalahan, dan persepsi tentang kesulitan bahasa Arab. Faktor eksternal meliputi metode pengajaran yang monoton, tekanan dari guru dan teman sebaya, serta kurangnya fasilitas pembelajaran interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan ini berdampak signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara pelajar, khususnya dalam situasi formal seperti ujian lisan. Strategi pengurangan kecemasan melibatkan latihan berbicara secara rutin, penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi, serta dukungan emosional dari guru dan teman sebaya. Studi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi pengembangan pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang lebih efektif, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan mengurangi kecemasan pada pelajar pemula. Abstract

Artikel ini membahas integrasi psikologi, linguistik, dan sosiologi dalam memahami bahasa sebagai refleksi pikiran, identitas, dan kehidupan manusia dalam psikolinguistik, fokus diberikan pada proses kognitif yang mendasari kemampuan berbahasa, mulai dari komprehensi hingga produksi, serta kaitannya dengan faktor neurologis dan perkembangan bahasa sementara itu, sosiolinguistik mengeksplorasi hubungan antara bahasa dan masyarakat, mencakup dinamika sosial yang memengaruhi penggunaan bahasa, termasuk fenomena kode campuran dan perubahan bahasa dalam lingkungan urban. Artikel ini juga menyoroti pentingnya bahasa sebagai penanda identitas sosial dan budaya, baik dalam konteks individu maupun komunitas dengan memadukan teori psiko-sosiolinguistik, artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana bahasa beradaptasi dan berkembang dalam masyarakat multikultural, serta perannya dalam pendidikan dan pembentukan solidaritas sosial. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trends of digitalization in Arabic language learning, focusing on the TikTok account of the Al-Azhar Arabic Course. In the modern era, the rapid development of digital technology has transformed educational practices, making learning processes more interactive, flexible, and accessible. TikTok, as one of the most popular social media platforms, offers a new approach to delivering educational content through engaging short videos. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method to understand the use of TikTok as a learning medium, including content patterns, user responses, and its effectiveness. Data were collected through content observation, interviews with account managers and users, and documentation of interactions on the platform. The findings indicate that the Al-Azhar Arabic Course TikTok account successfully captures the interest of young audiences with its varied and interactive content. Active interaction between account managers and users also enhances student engagement in the learning process. Despite challenges related to content quality and technological disparities, this study demonstrates that TikTok holds significant potential as an educational tool for introducing Arabic language to a broader audience. The research recommends that account managers continually update their content and evaluate its relevance and quality.
