Abstract

The problem behind this research is the decline in motivation in studying Arabic among PBA students in 2021 UINSU. The purpose of this research is to find out what factors are behind demotivation in studying Arabic among PBA 2 students of Stambuk 2021 UINSU. This research hopes to perfect previous studies and so that educators can develop strategies in reviving the motivation of Arabic language learners. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. The data collection technique is by conducting observations and interviews with PBA 2 students of 2021 UINSU. The data collected were then analyzed and grouped based on the similarity of the informants' answer patterns. The results of this study indicate that the factors behind student demotivation in studying Arabic are; First. The burden of the Academy. Second; Learning Methods. Third; Arabic language complexity. Fourth; Not having a language environment. Fifth. Teacher's personality. Sixth. Economic Factors.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply analyze the role of religious literacy in improving maharah qira'ah (reading ability) at SMP Pahlawan Nasional Kota Medan. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study explores data thoroughly regarding students' ability to read the Qur'an and its relationship to the religious literacy program implemented at the school. Data collection methods include memorization and Qur'an reading tests, observation of reading abilities, and surveys to explore students' perceptions of the importance of religious literacy. The results show that the majority of students still require intensive guidance in reading the Qur'an. In each class, only a few students are able to read the Qur'an and pronounce Arabic correctly, although their fluency is still lacking. Most students are not able to read the Qur'an fluently, and some still struggle to distinguish hijaiyah letters. These findings indicate the need for a systematic and intensive religious literacy program to help students improve their maharah qira'ah skills. Additionally, a more personalized teaching approach is necessary to address the specific challenges students face in reading the Qur'an.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of sounds in Arabic language learning at SMA Negeri 3 Medan. Sound perception refers to students' ability to recognize and produce sounds in Arabic, which often differ from sounds in the Indonesian language. This research identifies phonological difficulties experienced by students, the factors influencing their sound perception, and the teaching methods employed to address these challenges. The research methodology used is qualitative with a case study approach, involving observations, interviews, and phonology tests with 30 students and several Arabic teachers at SMA Negeri 3 Medan. The results show that students face major difficulties in distinguishing and producing certain sounds, such as the letters " ع " (ain) and " ق " (qaf), which do not exist in Indonesian. Psychological factors, such as lack of self-confidence, as well as teaching methods that lack structure in phonological instruction, exacerbate the difficulties students face. This study recommends giving more attention to phonological teaching, utilizing technology, and implementing blended learning methods to enhance students' sound perception in Arabic.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the socio-psycholinguistic approach in learning Arabic in the modern era, as well as its implications for language skills, vocabulary retention, and learner motivation. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and curriculum documentation. Data analysis followed three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the application of the socio-psycholinguistic approach that combines the cognitive aspects of psycholinguistics with the socio-cultural dimensions of sociolinguistics has a positive impact in the form of improved communication skills in Arabic, long-term vocabulary retention, and higher learning motivation. However, implementation in the field is still constrained by gaps in teacher competence, a curriculum that does not fully support contextual learning, and limited digital infrastructure in less developed areas.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the relationship between psycholinguistics in language acquisition and learning through a conceptual qualitative approach based on literature review. The discussion explores how cognitive, neurological, and affective aspects within psycholinguistics contribute to the processes of first and second language acquisition, and how these insights inform language teaching strategies in educational settings. Rather than focusing on empirical data or specific field sites, this study synthesizes and systematically analyzes findings and theoretical developments from recent scholarly literature in psycholinguistics and language education. The method employed is a theoretical content analysis of reputable academic sources. The findings highlight a strong interconnection between brain mechanisms, mental processes, and social input in the language acquisition process. Moreover, integrating theories of language acquisition and language learning strengthens pedagogical approaches that are responsive to learners’ individual needs. This article contributes conceptually to the interdisciplinary understanding among linguistics, psychology, and education, and offers a foundation for future empirical studies that may apply these theoretical insights in practical contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Smart Box learning media on the reading ability of class II students in the Indonesian Language subject at SDS Muhammadiyah 18 Medan. This study is a quantitative study with a quasiexperimental research method with a quasi-experiment type. The sample of this study was taken using the Random Sampling technique or simple random sampling consisting of two classes, namely class II-A totaling 26 students as an experimental class using the Smart Box media and class II-C totaling 26 students as a control class without using the Smart Box media. The data collection technique used in this study was a performance test (reading test) using Pretest and Posttest. The results of the study from both classes, namely in the pretest, had an average (mean) of the experimental class of 55.73 and the control class of 45.38. In the posttest, the average (mean) value of the experimental class was 87.31 and the control class was 61.73. The results of the hypothesis showed a t-count value of 12.767> t-table 1.675, which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the hypothesis states that the smart reading box media (Smart box) has an effect on students' reading ability in the Indonesian language subject for class II at SDS Muhammadiyah 18 Medan.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Froggy Jumps, a gamified digital platform, in enhancing students’ motivation to learn Arabic at an Indonesian secondary Islamic school. The research was conducted using a qualitative case study approach involving eighth-grade students and their Arabic teacher. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that Froggy Jumps positively influenced classroom dynamics, increased student engagement, and stimulated learning interest. The gamified elements; points, levels, challenges, audio, and visual features, contributed to a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience. However, the implementation was also influenced by several contextual factors, including internet stability, access to digital devices, and classroom management. The study concludes that while Froggy Jumps is a promising instructional tool, its effectiveness depends on adequate infrastructure, teacher readiness, and responsive pedagogical strategies. Further research using quantitative or mixed methods is recommended to evaluate its impact on student learning outcomes more comprehensively.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has a major impact on Arabic language learning, both in terms of opportunities and obstacles. This journal aims to identify opportunities and obstacles in Arabic language learning from the perspective of teachers and students. This research approach uses qualitative methods with interviews and literature studies to obtain a comprehensive picture of how digital technology can improve or hinder the Arabic language learning process. The results of the study indicate that the existence of digital technology provides many great opportunities for Arabic language learning, including: First, access to learning materials becomes wider. Second, there is global interaction. Third. Learning becomes more innovative and interesting. Fourth. Efficiency of time and place of learning. Fifth. The existence of digital technology can help advance educational institutions to the international level. However, there are also significant challenges from the existence of digital technology in Arabic language learning, including: First, the lack of maturity of teachers and students in using and utilizing digital technology. Second, there is digital distraction. Third, there is a technological gap and others.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peranan psikolinguistik dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab sebagaimana pembelajaran bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa kedua menjadi salah satu mata pelajaran wajib di Indonesia, baik dari tingkat dasar hingga perguruan tinggi, terkhusus pada lembaga pendidikan Islam, namun kajian berbahasa tidak dapat hanya dengan ilmu linguistik tetapi perlu dilengkapi dengan mental atau akal yaitu psikologi. Metode penelitian yang peneliti gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif desktiptif, dengan mengumpulkan data berdasarkan hasil studi pustaka yang berkaitan dengan kajian yang dibahas seperti buku, jurnal ilmiah, artikel dan dokumen lainnya yang mendukung pada penelitian ini, kemudian menjelaskan beberapa data yang telah didapati dan dikemukakan secara jelas. Temuan penelitian ini adalah bahwa psikolinguistik sangat berperan penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab karena psikolinguistik menjadi kunci uatama dalam memahami aspek mental pemakaian bahasa, mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi, dan mengatasi kendala yang mungkin timbul dalam keterampilan berbahasa siswa. Abstract

Kecemasan berbahasa (language anxiety) merupakan kendala utama dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab, terutama bagi pelajar pemula. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor penyebab kecemasan berbahasa dalam konteks keterampilan berbicara. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi faktor internal seperti ketidakpercayaan diri, ketakutan membuat kesalahan, dan persepsi tentang kesulitan bahasa Arab. Faktor eksternal meliputi metode pengajaran yang monoton, tekanan dari guru dan teman sebaya, serta kurangnya fasilitas pembelajaran interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan ini berdampak signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara pelajar, khususnya dalam situasi formal seperti ujian lisan. Strategi pengurangan kecemasan melibatkan latihan berbicara secara rutin, penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi, serta dukungan emosional dari guru dan teman sebaya. Studi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi pengembangan pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang lebih efektif, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan mengurangi kecemasan pada pelajar pemula.
