Abstract

This study aims to synthesize empirical evidence on how visionary leadership of school principals contributes to teacher learning innovation, with a specific focus on the mediating roles of teacher welfare, professional collaboration, and work motivation. This study employed a systematic literature review approach by analyzing relevant studies indexed in Scopus, ERIC, Google Scholar, and Indonesian national journals published between 2013 and 2025. The keywords used included “visionary leadership,” “teacher welfare,” “professional collaboration,” “work motivation,” and “learning innovation.” A total of 48 selected articles were analyzed using thematic synthesis techniques. The findings indicate that visionary leadership has a positive but predominantly indirect effect on teacher learning innovation. Three key mediating mechanisms were identified teacher welfare, encompassing financial and psychological well-being, which enhances teachers’ creative capacity; professional collaboration, such as learning communities and lesson study, which promotes knowledge sharing; and work motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, which sustains innovative practices. These three aspects operate synergistically in an integrated model. This study highlights that visionary leadership fosters innovation not through direct control but by creating supportive conditions. Its novelty lies in integrating teacher welfare, collaboration, and motivation as mediators. The findings contribute theoretically and practically by emphasizing a systemic approach to strengthening teacher learning innovation.

Abstract

Limited physical education (PE) facilities hinder active learning in many elementary schools, particularly in developing regions. This study aimed to improve the availability and utilization of physical education facilities through equipment modification in an elementary school in Seluma, Indonesia. A qualitative school action research design was employed over two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants included one physical education teacher and 28 elementary school students selected purposively. The intervention involved modifying learning equipment using simple materials such as stones, PVC pipes, cardboard, and sand. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that equipment modification significantly increased the availability of facilities from low to good levels. Student participation improved from low to high, and learning motivation also increased from low to high across the research cycles. These findings indicate that equipment modification is a feasible, low-cost strategy that can improve the effectiveness of physical education learning in resource-limited schools. This study contributes to the development of innovative and sustainable teaching practices. Future research should examine the long-term impact and broader applicability of this approach.

Abstract

School nutrition programs are increasingly recognized as strategies for improving children’s health and learning readiness. In Indonesia, the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) was introduced to address nutritional deficiencies among elementary school students. However, research on school leadership in managing such programs remains limited. This study examines the role of school principals in implementing the MBG program and its perceived contribution to student health and learning readiness. A qualitative descriptive case study was conducted at State Elementary School No. 22 Central Bengkulu, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis involving the principal, six teachers, one Nutrition Program Implementation Unit (SPPG) officer, and several students. Thematic analysis using the Miles and Huberman interactive model revealed four major themes. First, collaborative leadership practices were reflected in the principal’s coordination of implementation teams, distribution schedules, stakeholder communication, and engagement with teachers, parents, and SPPG officers. Second, supervisory practices included monitoring food quality, student discipline, cleanliness, and implementation procedures to ensure program quality. Third, several implementation challenges were identified, including limited storage facilities, food distribution delays, repetitive menus, communication barriers, and limited monitoring systems. Fourth, according to teacher and student reports, the MBG program positively influenced attendance, concentration, discipline, motivation, perceived health, and learning readiness. This study contributes to the limited literature on school leadership in nutrition program implementation and highlights the importance of collaborative leadership, adequate infrastructure, and continuous monitoring in sustaining program effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examines ethical role modeling of the school principal as a strategic driver in the development of inclusive education. Inclusive education requires not only structural readiness but also ethical leadership capable of fostering equitable learning environments; however, prior studies have predominantly emphasized pedagogical and infrastructural aspects rather than leadership exemplarity. This research aims to explore how ethical role modeling is enacted, experienced, and institutionalized in inclusive school practices. A qualitative phenomenological design was employed, conducted at a public junior secondary school implementing inclusive education. Participants were selected through purposive and snowball sampling, including the principal, teachers, administrative staff, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using qualitative descriptive procedures involving data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that ethical leadership is manifested through fairness, empathy, and moral responsibility, operationalized via behavioral consistency, disciplinary modeling, and value-based communication. These practices institutionalize inclusive policies, strengthen pedagogical readiness, and improve resource facilitation, thereby impacting inclusive school culture, teacher professionalism, and student participation. The study concludes that ethical role modeling functions as a moral institutional bridge, transforming inclusive values into sustainable educational practice. Therefore, leadership development programs and inclusive education policies should prioritize ethical exemplarity as a foundational competency to ensure sustainable and culturally embedded inclusive school transformation.
