Abstract

The purpose of 21-st century learning is to create students who have scientific literacy skills and conceptual understanding. One of the efforts that can be done is the use of appropriate forms of assessment instruments. The purpose of this study was to obtain a profile of the use of concept assessment instruments and scientific literacy used by physics teachers at SMA Solok Regency. This research was survey research. The respondents of this research were five senior high school physics teachers teaching in five senior high schools in Solok Regency. The data were collected using interviews and document analysis. The results showed that teachers only knew several forms of concept understanding assessment instruments. Thus, teachers have limited information in assessing students’ conceptual understanding. In addition, teachers have not been maximal in implementing scientific literacy competence in the use of assessment instruments. Keywords: Instruments, Scientific Literacy, Concept Understanding.

Abstract

Learning physics in high school has a goal students can master physics concepts and have a confident attitude. Currently, students' comprehension of concepts is still lacking, considering the mindsets and attitudes of students who have not demonstrated a positive approach toward learning physics. It is necessary to analyze the students' conceptual comprehension, attitudes toward studying physics, and the link between conceptual understanding and student attitudes. This research includes descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The population of this study is all students of class XII MIPA SMAN Batusangkar and a sample of 172 students. This study used a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used are four tier multiplechoice diagnostic tests and attitude questionnaires. Overall, the research result at SMAN Batusangkar discovered that pupils' conceptual grasp was still lacking, so there is a misconception of 41.28% on the material of temperature and heat. Students' attitudes towards learning physics as a whole, they have shown a good attitude towards learning physics, which is in the good category of 68.92%. Concept understanding and students' attitudes towards learning physics have a moderate relationship. Correlation concepts understanding with student attitudes shows that student attitudes can influence concepts understanding, causing unsatisfactory physics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the profile of students' misconceptions and their causes when learning simple harmonic motion. Five tier multiple choice diagnostic test with 20 questions has been for determination of the misconceptions and their causes. The descriptive method with quantitative approach was used in this exploration. There were 177 high school pupils in the sample data collection for this study. This study used the following sample was a purposive sample, that is high level and low level schools based on the average physics exam scores obtained from physics teachers at the high school level. Overall, students' concept getting to know simple harmonic motion material falls into the low category. The greatest concept understanding is found in high-level schools. Students' misconceptions in physics lessons based on simple material on harmonic motion overall fall into the medium category. The largest misunderstanding occur in high-level schools. Students' misconceptions in learning physics on simple harmonic motion material as a whole fall into the medium category. The biggest misconceptions occur in high-level schools. Where the highest misconceptions are highest in the concept of deviation, velocity and acceleration of simple harmonic motion. The more dominant cause of misunderstanding at both school levels is students' personal thoughts, followed by teachers, the internet, books, and friends.

Abstract

21st-century learning emphasizes the mastery of knowledge as a whole through the investigation of several points of view of knowledge, one of which is inquiry and STEM models. This study aims to determine the magnitude of the size of 20 studies on the effect of STEM-integrated inquiry models on science learning and learning outcomes. The moderator variables considered are education level and type of publication. The analyzed studies were obtained from Google Scholar and ERIC databases between 2013 and 2023. The results of the analysis showed that the influence of the STEM integrated inquiry model in physics learning on student learning outcomes had an average effect size value of 0.78 which was included in the medium category, based on 20 studies that had been collected. The distribution of studies discussing STEM-integrated inquiry models was most found in 2020 and international journals. The influence of STEM looks different at each level of education, with a significant dominance of influence occurring at the high school level.

Abstract

Teaching materials are a very important component in the learning process. The completeness of teaching materials is the main factor in increasing students' understanding of concepts and can reduce student misconceptions. Teaching materials in schools are currently still very limited and there are no teaching materials that can overcome students' misconceptions and are not yet integrated with technology. One solution to overcome this is by developing cognitive conflict-based teaching materials integrated with Augmented Reality technology. This study aims to present the results of the needs analysis of cognitive conflict teaching materials integrated with augmented reality (AR) sound wave material. This research is a descriptive research, which was conducted at SMA N 15 Padang. The research subjects were 36 students and 3 physics teachers. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire to the teacher, questionnaire to students and journal analysis sheets. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study show that teachers still experience many obstacles when implementing an independent curriculum and the need for special training in implementing an independent curriculum. The teaching materials used by students are still limited and there are no teaching materials that can overcome students' misconceptions and the teaching materials are not yet integrated with technology. The level of students' understanding of sound waves is still low and there are misconceptions. Therefore, from the results of preliminary research it is necessary to develop cognitive conflict-based physics teaching materials that integrate augmented reality technology.

Abstract

Students' interest and motivation to learn physics at the School of Sports Excellence has an important role in influencing students' academic achievement. However, in reality the interest and motivation of students at the School of Sports Excellence to learn physics found in the field is still low. This study aims to analyze the interest and motivation to learn physics of students at the School of Sports Excellence. This research uses survey method with data collection technique using questionnaire. The data analysis technique used percentage technique. This research was limited to class XI MIPA totaling 29 students as a sample. The results showed that students' interest and motivation to learn physics were low. The results of questionnaire analysis of student interest and motivation to learn physics are categorized as low, a strategy is needed to increase student interest and motivation to learn physics. The implication of this research is that educators should consider differences in students' interest and motivation to learn in designing appropriate curriculum and supportive teaching methods. With a better understanding of the factors that influence interest and motivation to learn physics, education in sport speciality schools can be more effective.

Abstract

The goal of 21st century learning in the independent curriculum is that students are able to deepen concepts and strengthen competencies. Efforts that can be made to achieve this goal are the use of teaching materials that are able to increase students' understanding of concepts. This research was conducted to develop teaching materials based on cognitive conflict integrated with augmented reality technology, so it is necessary to carry out a needs analysis as an initial stage of developing teaching materials. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research, the data collection instruments used are journal analysis and teacher and student analysis questionnaire sheets. Research was conducted to determine the need for developing open materials in schools. The results of the analysis of student needs show that physics learning is still teacher-centered, technology-integrated teaching materials, especially Augmented Reality, are not yet available, and learning models that overcome students' misconceptions are not yet used. The results of this preliminary research indicate the need to develop open physics materials that are able to increase student understanding of concepts and interest in learning. The solution to this is to develop cognitive conflict-based teaching materials that are integrated with technology by utilizing augmented reality technology.
