Abstract

The crisis of social welfare has shown significant fluctuations each year. According to census data from Bappeda Yogyakarta, the number of PMKS/PPKS in 2019–2020 reached 637,457 individuals. This number sharply decreased by 534,711 to 102,746 individuals in 2021–2022. Such conditions highlight a serious social issue that adds complexity to urban challenges. This study explores the factors behind homelessness and begging, focusing on the context of BRSBKL Yogyakarta. It also aims to strengthen religious, psychological, and life independence aspects of the center’s residents. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the one-month program involved 25 BRSBKL residents and several expert practitioners. The study found that the residents included homeless individuals (both involuntary and by choice), beggars, and former persons with mental disabilities identified by the Social Affairs Office. Religious values were reinforced through mentoring sessions, with six thematic lectures delivered by facilitators. Psychological support was provided through expressive therapy using drawing activities, led by a professional psychologist. Life skills were developed through hands-on training, such as making flower vases with raffia and rattan rope and participating in haircutting workshops. These combined efforts aimed to equip residents with the emotional, spiritual, and practical tools necessary for more independent and dignified living.

Abstract

Educational quality is a key element in creating excellent and competitive educational institutions, including madrasahs. Madrasah principals play a strategic role in designing quality policies, conducting supervision, and ensuring the continuity of quality educational processes. This study aims to analyze the role of madrasah principals in controlling and supervising educational quality at MTs Darul Ulum Islamic School Sleman, a pesantren-based madrasah that was newly established in 2021 but has shown significant development. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of the madrasah principal, teachers, administrative staff, and foundation administrators. The results of the study indicate that the madrasah principal plays a role in setting quality standards, conducting periodic evaluations, and mentoring teachers through participatory supervision. However, there are still challenges in quality documentation, limitations in follow-up on evaluation results, and uneven leadership distribution. This study contributes to the development of a madrasah leadership model that integrates Islamic values, modern quality management principles, and sustainable institutional systems within the context of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the urgency of national and international accreditation for universities in Indonesia in facing the dynamics of globalization of higher education. Using a library-based qualitative research approach, this study examines various documents, regulations, and academic literature from accreditation institutions such as BAN-PT, AUN-QA, ABET, AACSB, and ISO 21001. The analysis was carried out through content analysis techniques with the stages of unitizing, coding, categorization, and synthesis to identify conceptual patterns between national and international accreditation systems. The results of the study show that national accreditation serves as an external legal and quality assurance mechanism that ensures the conformity of universities with national standards, while international accreditation strengthens global reputation and expands cross-border academic networks. The integration of the two accreditation systems results in an adaptive quality assurance model that balances regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. In practical terms, the results of the research provide a strategic basis for the development of a sustainable higher education accreditation and internationalization policy that is sustainable, competitive, and relevant to the local context.

Abstract

This article formulates a model of child education management in Muslim families based on Islamic values using the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) framework. Employing a library research method, the study reviews the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic literature. The findings indicate that child education management can be structured into four main stages: planning, which emphasizes instilling tauhid from an early age (QS. Luqman: 13); organizing, through role distribution and family responsibilities in accordance with the principle of qawwam (QS. An-Nisa: 34); actuating, realized through role modeling, advice, worship practices, and moral education (QS. Luqman: 14–17); and controlling, which emphasizes fair reward and punishment (QS. Az-Zalzalah: 7–8). This model integrates modern management theory with Islamic teachings and provides a practical guide for Muslim families to nurture children who are faithful, virtuous, and responsible.
