The purpose of the study is to determine the magnitude of misconceptions in 4th-grade students of SD Negeri Ngrukeman and to find out the causes of misconceptions, so that they can determine the right solution to the problem. This research uses quantitative descriptive research. The data collection technique used diagnostic tests and the subjects in this study were 4th-grade students of SD Negeri Ngrukeman. Based on the results of the diagnostic test, it is known that the percentage of students' misconceptions on the topic "The Effect of Force on Objects" is 65%, the topic "Magnets, a Magical Object" is 59%, the topic "Elastic Objects" is 31%, the topic "Why We Don't Float in the Air" is 11%. The causal factors of the misconceptions themselves are 1) students' wrong preconceptions; 2) ineffective learning models; 3) teachers repeating material when students experience misconceptions; and 4) teaching materials that have not facilitated concept understanding properly. The solution that can be done is the need to develop teaching materials that contain practices and learning models that can reduce misconceptions.

Abstract

Every subject given to students does not escape a concept, including learning Natural Sciences (Science). Concepts are a basic aspect of developing the knowledge learned by someone. Unfortunately, in reality, there are still many misconceptions in learning. The aim of this research is to identify students' misconceptions about plant material at SD N Krapyak Wetan. The research method used was quantitative description using diagnostic test instruments. Based on the diagnostic tests carried out, it is known that the percentage of students' misconceptions about plant material is quite high, especially in the sub-chapter on plants and photosynthesis with a percentage of 61%. Several factors cause misconceptions in students, namely 1) Teachers' lack of understanding about students' preconceptions before learning is carried out, 2) The use of learning methods that seem like that, less innovative, 3) The use of teaching materials must also be carefully considered because this is also the cause of misconceptions in students, 4) Then there is a lack of learning innovation such as simple experimental practices which are still very rarely carried out in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the level of misconceptions experienced by fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Kasuran and to identify the contributing factors behind these misconceptions. The findings of this identification process are expected to serve as a basis for designing appropriate and relevant solutions to overcome conceptual barriers in the learning process. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach, employing a diagnostic test as the primary data collection instrument. The subjects of this study include all fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Kasuran. Based on the analysis of diagnostic test data, it was found that the level of student misconceptions regarding the topic “Parts of a Plant” reached 56%. The same percentage was observed for the topic “Photosynthesis as the Most Important Process on Earth,” also at 56%. Meanwhile, the highest level of misconception was identified in the topic “Plant Reproduction,” with a rate of 64%. Several factors were suspected to be the main causes of these misconceptions, including: 1) Learning materials that do not adequately support students’ conceptual understanding; 2) Instructional strategies employed by teachers that remain conventional and unengaging, failing to stimulate active participation from students; and 3) Unfavorable classroom conditions, in which some students struggle to maintain focus and are easily distracted due to monotonous and non-interactive learning environments. These findings highlight the urgent need for improvements in instructional content delivery, the development of more innovative teaching methods, and the creation of more effective classroom management practices to minimize misconceptions among elementary school students.

Abstract

Background: The Family Planning (KB) Program is an effort designed by the government to assist married couples in planning the number and distance of child births, using various contraceptive methods. It has a legal basis in the form of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 52 of 2009 concerning Population Development and Family Development. The family planning program also has a broader purpose, namely controlling population growth to be more balanced with the availability of resources. As of the first semester of 2024, the number of Indonesia's population has reached 282.477.584 people with a density of 143.73 people per square kilometer. Globally, the Family Planning (KB) program has been recognized as one of the important solutions in suppressing uncontrolled population growth and improving the quality of family life. Purpose: To examine the social support factor on the willingness of the husband as an acceptor of vasectomy family planning. Method: A descriptive correlational, specially focusing on cross-sectional method. The study took place from March 2025 in Senden, Bantul. The independent variable was social support, meanwhile the dependent variable included Husband’s Willingness to Accept Vasectomy. Using random sampling and lame show formula 105 respondents were selected who meet specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis proceeded with a univariate test to determine the frequency distribution of respondent’s characteristics, followed by bivariate analysis using chi square test. Results: There is a significant relationship between social support and the willingness of husbands to accept vasectomy as a method of family planning p-value 0.003. Odd Ratio showed a value of 9.000 which means that people who receive high social support will be 9 times more likely to be willing to be acceptors of family planning MOP than those who receive low social support. Conclusion: Social support can come from various sources, including the wife, family members, peers, and health workers, which can strengthen the husband's confidence and motivation to undergo a vasectomy.

Abstract

At the elementary school level, education has a very important role in shaping the way students think and providing a strong foundation for understanding various basic concepts in science. However, in reality there are still many students who experience misconceptions. This study aims to identify students' misconceptions through a two-tier diagnostic test. The diagnostic test consisted of 25 multiple choice items covering three subconcepts and was tested on 51 fourth grade students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method because this research only focuses on one variable, namely student misconceptions that occur in learning the topic of the form of substances and their changes. The test results show that students' misconceptions are quite high, namely 61.43% with the highest misconception topic on the types of substances, which is 70%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that diagnostic tests need to be carried out in learning to be able to reveal students' misconceptions before learning.
