Abstract

This study discusses about feasibility of audiovisual media for literacy activities of students of grade V in public elementary school (SDN) 067241 in Medan. This study is conducted in the even semester of Academic Year 2018/2019. The timing of this research is carried out from March to April 2019. The subjects of this study are: (1) students of SDN 067241 Medan Denai class Va as the subject of field trials; and (2) two experts who each have criteria: material experts and media experts. The results shows that a media product of the Tema 4 learning video in the fifth class of Denai Medan. This learning video media product is feasible and valid to be used by Grade V students of SDN 067241 through assessment, revision, and validation from several experts.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the process of developing SOLO Taxonomy-based assessment tools on the text of observation reports for X grade students of Senior High School 1 NA. IX-X; describe how the appropriateness of the assessment tool, and describe the effectiveness of the assessment tool. This study uses Borg & Gall development model. The analysis is done by determining the characteristics of the will of students and teachers by determining the percentage of answers to each question / statement. The data obtained in this study were quantitative descriptive data. The results showed that: (1) the development of Solo Taxonomy-based assessment tools on the text of observation report was carried out in several stages, there were: research and information collecting; planning; develop preliminary form of product; preliminary field testing; main product revision; and main field testing.  This stages has been restricted to the entire stage of the Borg & Gall development model. Restrictions on the stages of development are tailored to the needs of researchers. All stages are carried out until the product is said to be of good quality based on validity and is suitable for use in learning; (2) the average percentage of all sub-components from the results of the validation of material experts was 81%. The average percentage of all indicators of results to content eligibility was 85.49%; Presentation Feasibility has an average of 88.4%; language worthiness has an average of 90.3%; all three components were in the "excellent" category. The average percentage of all sub-components from the results of the evaluation expert for the multiple choice instrument was 94.38% with "excellent" criteria and the description form had a total percentage of 91.65% with "excellent" criteria. The results of the teacher's response to the assessment tools has an average total percentage of 90.38% with the criteria of "excellent". The results of student’s response to the application of assessment tools has a total percentage of 91.31% with the criteria of "excellent"; and (3) The effectiveness of the Solo taxonomy-based assessment tool on the text of the observation report obtained an average of 82.57. The lowest student score was 75 and the highest was 95. This shows that student learning outcomes were better when compared to without teachers using assessment tools.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials by using VAK (Visual Auditory Kinestethic) on fantasy story material for 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Medan. The research method used is Research and Development which refers to Borg and Gall model. The stages of development are the initial study phase, initial product development, and product trials. The results showed that the results of material validation included content eligibility with an average of 82% with a very good category, Eligibility for Presentation with an average of 87.5% with a very good category, and an assessment of language aspects with an average of 82.2% with a category very good. For the assessment of graphics by design experts obtained an average of 87% with the category "very good". Product trials are carried out in three stages: individual testing, small group trials, and limited field trials. Individual trials with an average of 86% with very good categories, small group trials with an average of 87.4% with very good categories, and limited field trials with an average of 88.3% with very good categories. The effectiveness of teaching materials is obtained through student learning outcomes in the pretest and posttest. Average score at pretest is 52 and at posttest is 76. This proves that the teaching material of fantasy story by using VAK (Visual Auditory Kinestethic) is feasible, easy, and effective for use in 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Medan. This research has implications for Indonesian language learning process, which is teaching material by using VAK (Visual Auditory Kinestethic) which is developed to provide practical contributions, especially in the implementation of the learning process for teachers, teaching materials in the form of this module can be additional teaching materials to provide convenience in conveying fantasy story material taught, enriching and increasing students' knowledge about fantasy story so that learning will be more interesting and motivate students, trains students to learn independently.

Abstract

Evaluation is the result of the teaching and learning process carried out by teachers and students. Assessment serves to measure students' understanding of the material given by the teacher. Evaluation or procurement activities also play an important role in improving the quality of learning. As for the accuracy of the use of the Indonesian language rules in the class and UAS test exam questions made by Indonesian Language teachers in SMP 27 for the last two years, namely in the total of 195 questions consisting of multiple-choice descriptions, it was found that 86 questions (44%) were not effective and 99 questions (51%) are effective. The most common mistake is the alignment and unity of ideas and economics. The accuracy of the use of the operational word in this study is quite good, because only 5 questions (3%) are incorrect and 190 other questions (97%) are stated correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Know the differences in reading skills of students taught with the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model compared to students taught with conventional learning models; (2) Knowing the difference in reading skills of students who have high learning motivation compared to students who have low learning motivation; (3) Knowing the interaction between learning models and learning motivation in influencing students' reading skills. The population in this study were the fifth grade students of Elementary school 101883, Tanjungmorawa District, Deliserdang Regency, amounting to 54 people. Data collection in this study was through questionnaires and students' reading skills tests. Hypothesis testing is done by using the Two Way Anova test. The results showed that: (1) The reading skills of students taught with the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model were higher than those taught by conventional learning models (Fcount = 21.164 and sig. 0.000> 0.05); (2) Reading skills of students who have high learning motivation are higher than reading skills of students who have low learning motivation (Fcount = 6.756 and sig. 0.012> 0.05); (3) There is an interaction between learning models and learning motivation in influencing students' reading skills (Fcount = 7.054 and sig. 0.011> 0.05).

Abstract

The aim of this study to development of materials teaching writing text drama based on problems that happened in 9th of grade Students of Methodist Medan.  The reason for choosing this school student at Methodist Senior High School 12 Medan was because it had all the supporting aspects so that the research could run well. This study was conducted on July2019. The result is students who scored 65-74 were 2 with a percentage of 7%, at 55-64 there were 1 2 people with a percentage of 40 % and at 0-54 as many as 16 people with a percentage of 53%. In the posttest score increased better learning outcomes around 85-100 scores by 2 with a percentage of 7 %, 75-84 scores by 2 2 with a percentage of 73 %, a value of 65-74 by 6 with a percentage of 20 % . So, the final results of the needs analysis showed that 100% of teachers and students of Medan Methodist 12 High School needed a companion module in learning Indonesian.

Abstract

Digital media or often referred to as new media (new digital media) is an electronic media stored in digital format (as opposed to analog format) which can be used as storage, transmit, and receive digitalized information. Digital media is the internet-based media using computers and sophisticated mobile phones. Digital media as internet-based media has the characteristics of (1) computer-based technology; (2) its characteristics are hybrid, not dedicated, flexible; (3) interactive potential; (4) public and private functions; (5) non-strict regulations; (6) interrelation; (7) ubiquitous / independent of location; (8) can be accessed by individuals as communicators. This development research will be carried out at the Medan Tourism Polytechnic which is located at Jalan Rumah Sakit Haji No. 12, Kenanga Baru, Percut Sei Tuan District, and Deliserdang Regency. This Polytechnic has seven Study Programs, namely one Diploma 4 (D-4) Study Program and six Diploma 3 (D-3) Study Programs. The seven study programs are (1) D-4 Hospitality Management, (2) D-3 Room Division Management, (3) D-3 Food Management Management, (4) D-3 Catering Management, (5) D-3 Patiseri Management, (6) Tourism Planning and Marketing Management, and (7) D-3 Travel Tour. This digital multimodal-based public speaking learning media is very effective to use to improve learning outcomes. The learning outcomes after applying this product were at an average of 89.68%, meanwhile the learning outcomes before the application of learning media were at an average (55.93%).

Abstract

In the form of an assessment guide reading poetry on poetry text material and knowing the process of developing and the feasibility of the product. This research method is a Research and Development (R&D) research and development method proposed by Tegeh et al. Referring to the Borg & Gall model with minor adjustments according to the research context simplified to product trials. Data was collected through validation of material experts, design experts, the responses of Indonesian Language teachers of Junior High School 1 Pancur batu, and 32 students of Junior High School 1 Pancur batu as research subjects. The results of this research and development are teaching materials in the form of textbooks based on contextual approaches in the form of printed media, which have been declared feasible to be used by material experts, design experts, Indonesian language teachers and students as learning resources. The feasibility of teaching materials in accordance with the results of validation. The results of the expert validation of the material include a component of content worthiness with an average of 82.29% in the very good criteria, the feasibility of the presentation obtained an average value of 82.5% in the very good criteria, the feasibility of the language obtained an average value of 86.11% in the very good criteria , and contextual feasibility obtained an average value of 81.25 on very good criteria.

Abstract

The study deals with the effectiveness of teaching materials based on local culture on 7th grade students in junior high school Sipirok. The study was conducted at one of Junior High Schools 1 in Sipirok located in South Tapanuli Regency. Student learning outcomes are obtained by providing a trial test using instructional materials that have been developed which aims to see the extent to which increased student understanding of the Sipirok local culture-based text description learning material by using teaching materials developed in this study. Student learning outcomes based on pretest and posttest show the difference in the difference from pretest to posttest the score obtained 10.42 with an average pretest 75.65 on the criteria of "good" and an average posttest of 90.8 on the criteria of "very good". It can be concluded that learning using on Sipirok local culture-based text descriptions can improve student learning outcomes in Indonesian language subjects especially description text material.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to find out the effectiveness of learning media folklore text of North Sumatra based on blended learning. This study used research and development of learning media based on blended learning takes the form of online, offline and face-to-face learning media. The result of the study Learning outcomes in the folklore text material of 10th Grade students of Vocational High School Harapan Mekar-1 Medan after using learning media based on blended learning are in the category of "very good" with an average value of 82.81 and the average value before using learning media based on blended learning of 67.65 which is in the "good" category. This proves that student learning outcomes in writing folklore text material using blended learning based learning media is higher with the difference in percentage from pretest to posttest is 15,16.
