Abstract

ABSTRACT Thinking spatial is essential for students to develop in geography learning. This is useful for students to analyze geosphere phenomena from a spatial perspective. The selection of a learning model is critical to develop students' abilities. However, the ability to think spatially in class XII IPS 2 MAN Kota Blitar is still low. A students' spatial thinking skills in the pre-cycle, namely 43.77. One of the reasons for this lack of spatial thinking skills is that teachers lack innovation in using instructional media and often use the lecture method. This research aims to improve learning and students' spatial thinking skills by applying the geographic inquiry model with the help of a virtual panoramic geospatial. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is divided into two cycles with descriptive quantitative analysis. The results show that after applying the geographical inquiry model with the help of a panoramic virtual geospatial, the spatial thinking ability test score for cycle 1 was 64.76, and cycle 2 was 77.56. This indicates that students' spatial thinking skills always increase every cycle. Implementing the geographic inquiry model, assisted by a virtual panoramic geospatial, can help students better interpret a geographical phenomenon from a spatial perspective. Keywords: Spatial thinking skills; Geographical Inquiry; Geospatial virtual panoramic.

Abstract

The pedagogical challenge in teaching the hydrological cycle stems from its inherent abstraction and the inability of students to observe these processes in situ. Consequently, the objective of this Research and Development (R&D) study is to engineer a Motion Graphic Animation framework that specifically addresses these visualization deficits. By transforming static concepts into dynamic visual narratives, this media serves as a cognitive tool to bridge the gap between abstract theory and observable reality, thereby cultivating robust critical thinking skills among high school students. The study was conducted as a targeted pilot implementation involving 23 students from Class X IPS at SMA Panjura Malang. This small-scale implementation serves as a necessary developmental step to evaluate the media's effectiveness in clarifying abstract hydrological processes before broader application in diverse geographical education settings. The method used in this study is a qualitative and quantitative percentage descriptive method that adapts the ADDIE development model to produce learning media products The results demonstrate that the motion graphic animation effectively clarifies the complex, non-observable phases of the hydrological cycle, specifically addressing the 'visualization gap' in processes like infiltration, evaporation, and runoff. By providing a dynamic visual representation of these abstract phenomena, the media moves students beyond rote memorization of definitions toward a deeper conceptual understanding. The implementation led to a significant improvement in critical thinking, with 69% of students achieving 'very high' proficiency levels by successfully interpreting and analyzing the systemic nature of water movement.

Abstract

In the educational context of the 21st century, where critical thinking and problem-solving are essential skills, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model offers numerous advantages. In contrast to traditional learning models that only focus on knowledge transfer, PBL encourages students to solve real environmental problems, promotes active learning, and encourages the development of critical thinking skills to solve complex global issues. Environmental issues such as global warming, pollution, and other issues require students' ability to integrate various information and analyze, synthesize, and formulate holistic and comprehensive solutions. This research discusses the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and aims to determine its effect on students' critical thinking skills in discussions related to the environment. The type of research applied was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control-group design pre-test and post-test and the experimental class subjects were 29 and the control class was 32 students as a result of cluster random sampling. Data were collected in the form of essay tests and observations and then analyzed to determine significant differences using the t-test. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference in critical thinking skills with a value of p = 0.004 α 0.05 between the experimental class and the control class, where the experimental class gets a higher score of 71 compared to the control class of 61. In the event that learning involves interdisciplinary and abstract material such as environmental topics and aims to develop students' critical thinking skills, the PBL model can be a teacher's choice in implementing learning.

Abstract

Project-based learning (PjBL) is a problem-oriented learning model as the beginning of combining new knowledge with experience. The advantages of the PjBL model are able to spur students in creative thinking and can increase students to understand the theory learned along with creativity in applying their understanding to a project. The application of the PjBL model requires a variety of learning media that helps students in the process of collaboration and exploration, namely through google sites. This study aimed to determine the effect of PjBL, facilitated by Google Sites, on students' creative thinking in geography education. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, using an independent T-test to analyze the impact of PjBL on creative thinking skills. The research subjects included students from classes X-8 and X-9 at State Senior High School 7 Malang, selected based on purposive sampling to ensure similar baseline characteristics. The results and discussion show that project-based learning assisted by google sites is able to encourage students' creative thinking, especially those related to fluent thinking. It was proven by the acquisition of Independent Sample T test value Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.040 <0.05. Thus, it can be said that the project-based learning model assisted by google sites in geography subjects affects students' creative thinking skills. The findings include: 1) students are very active and enthusiastic during the learning process, 2) female students have better creative thinking skills than male students.
