Abstract

Happiness is a crucial aspect of student psychological development, particularly for high-achieving students who often experience increased pressure in academic activities. This study aims to describe the happiness profile of high-achieving students at a State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN). The research approach used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. This study also employed data triangulation, as the data were gathered from diverse, mutually reinforcing sources: the guidance counselor, parents, the principal, peers, and the homeroom teacher. The subjects were three high-achieving students selected based on academic and non-academic achievement criteria. The results indicate that high- achieving students at MTsN generally have high levels of happiness, influenced by social support from family, teachers, peers, and personal achievements recognized by the school environment. This study recommends a holistic approach to supporting high-achieving students to maintain emotional, social, academic, and non-academic balance.

Abstract

Work readiness is a reflection of an individual's quality of life evaluation, viewed from their own perspective. However, in reality, the work readiness of students is still low. This study aims to determine the contribution of work value, career adaptability, and willingness to compromise on students' work readiness during the school-to-work transition. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a correlational method. A total of 210 students were selected through incidental sampling techniques to participate in this research. The instruments used include scales for work value, career adaptability, willingness to compromise, and work readiness. The results of the study indicate that students' work value is in the high category, their career adaptability is in the high category, their willingness to compromise is in the high category, and their work readiness is in the medium category. The findings show that work value, career adaptability, and willingness to compromise significantly contribute positively to students' work readiness. This research implies that future studies should focus on helping students develop work readiness during their school-to-work transition.

Abstract

The concept of vocational guidance and counseling in vocational high schools (SMK) plays a crucial role in shaping the future of students. A recent study conducted at SMKS Teknologi YPL Lirik aimed to explore the general overview of guidance and counseling implementation, the steps taken by school principals and teachers, and the challenges faced in this aspect. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the researchers directly collected data through interviews, documentation, and involving key stakeholders such as the school principal, vice principal of student affairs, subject teachers, class advisors, guidance counselors, and students. The gathered data was then analyzed through a process of reduction and interpreted qualitatively to draw conclusions. According to the interviews conducted with school officials, it was revealed that the current guidance and counseling practices at SMKS Teknologi YPL Lirik are inadequate. This is evident from the students' behavior, which tends to be naughty or undisciplined due to family or community environmental factors. To achieve holistic character education through guidance and counseling, the school must establish good cooperation with parents, maintain direct communication with them in case of any issues at school, and find solutions collaboratively to foster positive character growth in both the family and school environments. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the importance of enhancing guidance and counseling practices in vocational high schools to better support students in their personal and academic development. By addressing challenges and strengthening collaboration between school stakeholders, SMKS Teknologi YPL Lirik can create a more conducive environment for students to thrive and succeed in their vocational endeavors.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to review various national and international research on the analysis of validity and reliability of measurement instruments in guidance and counseling. Validity and reliability are two key indicators in determining the quality of psychological assessment tools. Validity reflects how well an instrument measures the intended construct, while reliability refers to the consistency of measurement results. Based on a review of several scientific journals, common approaches include exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency testing, and expert judgment validation. The review findings indicate that instruments developed through rigorous validity and reliability testing can enhance counseling effectiveness, provide more accurate diagnoses, and improve the quality of professional services. Therefore, it is essential for practitioners and researchers in guidance and counseling to continually evaluate and update the instruments they use.
