Abstract

One way to extend shelf life and maintain the quality of fresh chicken meat is to implement an active packaging system. This research aimed to develop active packaging in the form of pads used in chicken meat with dual functions: Super Water Absorbent (SWA) as an adsorbent system and Ethanol Emitter (EE) as an antibacterial release system. The packaging in this study was first carried out by making SWA/EE with a ratio of 0, 4, and 2 (b/v). Furthermore, SWA/EE granules were inserted into non-woven PP bags to form an adsorbent active packaging pad. The experimental design used was a Randomized Group Design (RGD) with 2 factors, namely SWA/EE pad ratio 0, 4, and 2 (b/v) with non-pad as control and storage time (0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days). Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results showed that the SWA/EE ratio 4 (w/v) had better ethanol release and water absorption rate compared to other treatments. SWA/EE treatment with SWA/EE ratio of 4 (b/v) showed a significant difference on the anti-bacterial activity of S. aureus (34.58 mm) and total bacterial growth on storage days 3, 5, and 7, with the lowest value on day 3 (1.52 log CFU/g). SWA/EE treatment did not significantly different on the antibacterial activity of E. coli and total bacterial growth at day 1 storage. Packaging with an SWA-EE ratio of 4 (w/v) has the potential to be a double active packaging that can be used on fresh chicken meat.

Abstract

This study attempts to improve student learning process  in integrated thematic learning through used the of cooperative learning approach type think pair share (TPS) to the fourth grade students of SDN 42 Korong Gadang Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) that uses a qualitative and quantitative approach. Conducted in two cycles, with three meetings covering four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection.. This study was conducted at SDN 42 Korong Gadang Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang to 20 students. The results of the study: (1) percentage The learning plan, namely 78,12% (enought) to 92,85% (Very Good). (2) The implementation of learning from  aspect of teacher, of 75% (enough) to 92.85% (Very Good). (3) The aspects of students of 80% (good) to 95% (Very Good). It can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model can improve the integrated thematic learning process in elementary schools.

Abstract

Background: Berdasarkan hasil SSGI tahun 2022 prevalensi stunting balita di Indonesia masih cukup besar yaitu 21,6%. Bupati Karanganyar melalui SK Tahun 2023 menyatakan bahwa Lokus stunting di Kecamatan Jatipuro Karanganyar yang tertinggi adalah Desa Jatikuwung. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melakukan peningkatan pengetahuan stunting sebagai upaya penurunan stunting di Desa Jatikuwung Jatipuro. Metode: Kegiatan diawali dengan analisis data sekunder dan dilanjutkan Focus Discussion Group (FGD) secara luring dan daring dengan peserta 44 orang yang terdiri dari Tim TPPS Kabupaten, Kecamatan dan Desa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama bulan Juni 2023 di Balai Desa Jatikuwung Kec. Jatipuro. Hasil: Dari Hasil intervensi yang dilaksanakan dapat diketahui bahwa telah terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan pada ibu balita stunting dengan kategori sangat baik 41,6% menjadi 75%.  Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan ibu balita, ibu hamil dan kader meningkat setelah mendapatkan penyuluhan tentang stunting dan pola asuh.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of profitability, leverage and firm size on tax avoidance. This research uses secondary data for manufacturing companies obtained from the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2018-2020. This study used a descriptive research design and the sample data was selected using purposive sampling method. There are 210 data from 70 companies in the manufacturing sector. The data is processed using the EViews 12 SV application. The results of this study that profitability has a negative and insignificant effect on Tax Avoidance, Leverage has a positive and significant effect on Tax Avoidance and Firm Size has a positive and insignificant effect on Tax Avoidance.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse, as lignocellulosic biomass waste, has great potential for producing bio-oil through pyrolysis, which is the process of converting biomass into bio-oil, biochar, and gas. However, the main challenge in bio-oil production is reducing oxygen content and improving its quality. Therefore, this study evaluates the effect of temperature and catalyst use on bio-oil yield from sugarcane bagasse pyrolysis. The method used was a literature review, collecting quantitative data from various relevant studies on sugarcane bagasse pyrolysis and its operational conditions. The results showed that a temperature of 500°C yielded the optimal bio-oil yield of 60.4%, with higher temperatures increasing calorific value but reducing oxygen content. Additionally, the use of a catalyst can reduce oxygen content and improve bio-oil quality. In conclusion, temperature and the selection of the appropriate catalyst play a key role in improving the quality and efficiency of bio-oil production from sugarcane bagasse, which can support efforts toward transitioning to more sustainable energy sources.

Abstract

Penilaian sikap merupakan kegiatan untuk mengetahui perilaku spiritual dan sosial siswa yang dapat di amati dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, baik di dalam maupun di luar kelas sebagai hasil pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery Learning terhadap hasil belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) siswa kelas VIII di SMP Swasta Cinta Rakyat 2 Pematangsiantar. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPS, yang ditunjukkan oleh data Ujian Akhir Semester Ganjil Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025, di mana dari 67 siswa, hanya 20 siswa (29,85%) yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sebesar 75, sementara 47 siswa (70,15%) tidak tuntas. Permasalahan ini  disebabkan oleh kurangnya minat belajar siswa, perbedaan kemampuan akademik, dan metode pembelajaran yang belum bervariasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII-B sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan model discovery learning, dan kelas VIII-A sebagai kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan metode ceramah. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal tes pilihan ganda yang diberikan sebagai pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur hasil belajar siswa. Selain itu, dilakukan observasi keaktifan siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan pada kelas eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Rata-rata skor posttest siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol, yang menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran discovery learning berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar IPS siswa. Model ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, kemandirian, serta keaktifan siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan temuan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran discovery learning memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar IPS siswa. Oleh karena itu, penerapan model ini direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu pilihan dalam strategi pembelajaran yang inovatif dan efektif untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di sekolah menengah pertama

Abstract

          Agricultural land in Akar-Akar Village is dominated by dry soil with low productivity, which has become a major challenge for local farmers. On the other hand, corn cobs, which are abundantly available as post-harvest waste, have not been utilized optimally and are often considered as trash. This Community Service Program (KKN) aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers in Akar-Akar Village regarding the potential use of corn cobs as biochar to improve soil quality. The method applied is a participatory approach through socialization and practical demonstration. The socialization stage provides theoretical understanding of the benefits of biochar, while the demonstration stage practices the direct process of producing biochar using a simple pyrolysis method with single drum kiln technology. The results of this activity indicate a significant increase in the community’s understanding and awareness of the benefits of biochar in improving the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil, as well as their ability to independently produce biochar from local agricultural waste. The conclusion of this program is that the socialization and demonstration of corn cob biochar technology successfully introduced a low-cost, environmentally friendly, and sustainable solution to address the issue of dry soil fertility, while simultaneously transforming waste into a valuable resource in Akar-Akar Village.

Abstract

Peningkatan kualitas perkerasan jalan sangat dipengaruhi oleh ketersediaan dan mutu material agregat yang berfungsi sebagai penyusun utama campuran aspal. Keterbatasan material standar di beberapa daerah mendorong perlunya pemanfaatan material lokal sebagai alternatif, salah satunya agregat dari Quarry Air Dingi, meskipun demikian, agregat dari Quarry Air Dingin hanya dimanfaatkan untuk konstruksi gedung dibandingkan pekerjaan perkerasan jalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan agregat kasar dan halus dari Quarry Air Dingin sebagai bahan penyusun campuran aspal berdasarkan karakteristik fisik dan mekanisnya. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui pengujian laboratorium meliputi analisis saringan, keausan Los Angeles, berat jenis dan penyerapan air, serta pemeriksaan gradasi agregat sesuai Spesifikasi Umum Bina Marga 2018 Revisi 1. Data hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa agregat kasar memiliki nilai abrasi ?30%, berat jenis bulk rata-rata 2,6–2,7, dan penyerapan <4%, sedangkan agregat halus memiliki berat jenis sekitar 2,45–2,7 dengan kadar lumpur di bawah batas maksimum. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, seluruh parameter agregat kasar dan halus memenuhi persyaratan teknis yang berlaku, sehingga material lokal dari Quarry Air Dingin dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai bahan penyusun campuran aspal pada pekerjaan perkerasan jalan.

Abstract

Abstrak: Gulma sering dianggap sebagai tanaman pengganggu yang menurunkan produktivitas, namun gulma mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, saponin, dan lainnya yang berpotensi dijadikan pestisida dan pupuk organik. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada petani di Desa Tanjung Dayang Utara, Sumatera Selatan, mengenai pemanfaatan gulma sebagai bahan dasar pestisida dan pupuk nabati yang ramah lingkungan serta berbiaya rendah. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahapan sosialisasi, penyuluhan, demonstrasi, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Sebanyak 50 petani dan tokoh masyarakat mengikuti pelatihan pembuatan pestisida gulma dengan dua metode: sederhana dan ekstraksi. Evaluasi dilakukan secara berjenjang melalui diskusi pra-penyuluhan, uji praktek saat penyuluhan, dan pengamatan pertumbuhan tanaman. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan softskill peserta dalam pengolahan gulma hingga 75%, serta penurunan biaya pembelian pestisida dan pupuk sintetis hingga 40%. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran petani terhadap praktek pertanian berkelanjutan dan penggunaan sumber daya lokal. Diharapkan ilmu yang diperoleh dapat ditransfer ke petani lain sehingga berdampak lebih luas dalam mendorong kemandirian dan efisiensi usaha tani.Abstract: Weeds are often seen as nuisance plants that reduce crop productivity. However, they contain bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and saponins, which can be utilized as natural pesticides and organic fertilizers. This community service activity aimed to educate Tanjung Dayang Utara Village, South Sumatra farmers on using weeds as eco-friendly and low-cost agricultural inputs. The program involved socialization, counseling, presentations, mentoring, and evaluation. Fifty farmers and community leaders took part in training on pesticide production using simple and extraction methods. Evaluation was conducted through pre-counselling discussions, practical sessions, and plant growth observation. The activity improved participants' skills in weed processing by up to 75% and reduced the cost of synthetic pesticide and fertilizer use by up to 40%. It also increased awareness of sustainable farming practices and encouraged the use of local natural resources. The knowledge gained is expected to be shared with other farmers, fostering a broader impact through improved self-reliance and farming efficiency.
