Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of integrating traditional games in improving the gross motor skills of elementary school students. The research method used is experimental with a pre-test and post-test one group design. The population consisted of fourth-grade students from an elementary school, with a sample of 30 students selected from one class. The instrument used to measure gross motor skills was the Test of Gross Motor Development-2, which has been adapted and validated for the Indonesian context. Data analysis showed a significant increase in gross motor skills after participating in traditional game interventions. The pre-test data were not normally distributed (Sig. Shapiro-Wilk = 0.007), while the post-test data were normally distributed (Sig. = 0.128). The paired t-test results indicated a t-value of 132.366 with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, confirming a significant improvement. The traditional games specifically used in this study were Boi-boian and kasti. Boi-boian involves actions such as throwing and dodging, which effectively develop coordination and reaction skills. Kasti, a bat-and-run game, trains students in hitting, catching, and sprinting, enhancing strength, agility, and motor accuracy. The integration of these two games provided diverse physical challenges and significantly boosted student engagement. These findings suggest that traditional game-based interventions can serve as an effective strategy for enhancing gross motor skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students’ learning motivation in the context of physical fitness education. Employing a pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, the study involved 23 fifth-grade elementary students, selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria. A learning motivation questionnaire was utilized as the main instrument, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the paired sample t-test. Results showed an increase in the average motivation score from 23.35 (pretest) to 25.65 (posttest). The data met the assumption of normality, with a significance value above 0.05. The paired sample t-test revealed a significance level of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant difference before and after the implementation of the PjBL model. In conclusion, Project-Based Learning has a significant positive effect on improving students’ motivation, offering a more engaging, contextual, and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

Introduction: success in competition is influenced by various factors including emotion management skills and psychological conditions before competition. pre-competition anxiety is a condition that is widely experienced in adolescent athletes, especially in athletes who are new to competing in elite competitions. this study was conducted to look further at anxiety levels, influencing factors and the effect of pre-competition anxiety on match performance in achieving achievement. Methods: this systematic review protocol adheres to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A systematic search was conducted using the popular databases Scopus, ScienceDirect and PubMed published between 2020 and 2025. The search was conducted on peer reviewed articles written in English, and reported on the condition of pre-competition anxiety on competition performance in young athletes aged 12-18 years who competed in professional events. Result: Of the total 975 publications initially identified, 9 studies met the selection criteria for inclusion in this review. These articles explored the effects of pre-competition anxiety on sports performance across various athletic disciplines. The studies provided insights into varying levels of pre-competition anxiety, different interventions aimed at reducing anxiety, and their subsequent effects on performance outcomes. The findings suggest that pre-competition anxiety can significantly impact performance, with both positive and negative effects depending on the anxiety level and intervention methods employed.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two service techniques, namely flat serve and spin serve, on direct point acquisition in a simulated tennis match situation. The subjects of the study consisted of 20 male junior tennis players, aged 14–16 years, who were divided into two groups based on service technique. Each group was to use one type of serve consistently during three sets of simulated matches. The variables observed included the number of direct points, service speed, accuracy, rally length, and number of double faults. The results of the independent t-test analysis showed that the flat serve group scored a higher average direct points mean, 9.2; SD = 2.15, than the spin serve group mean, 6.8; SD 1.69, with a t-value = 2.74; p = 0.013. Supporting analysis also showed that the flat serve had higher speed, while the spin serve was superior in accuracy and rally duration. These findings indicate that the flat serve is more effective for a fast point scoring strategy, while the spin serve is more suitable for long rallies and game control. Therefore, coaches are advised to integrate service variation training as part of the development of athletes’ playing strategies.

Abstract

Background. Accuracy in serving contributes to an athlete's game consistency, making them more unpredictable for opponents. This not only affects the technical aspect but also the psychological one, as players with accurate serves are able to maintain mental pressure on the opponent, which can ultimately change the dynamics of the match. Objectives. This research evaluates service accuracy in beginner tennis athletes at PELTI Pangkep, an aspect often overlooked in sports literature. The research gap lies in the lack of studies concerning service accuracy, especially among beginner athletes. The research aims to measure tennis service accuracy. Methods. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a survey design conducted on January 23, 2024, involving 20 beginner tennis athletes aged 10"“18 years at PELTI Pangkep, selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was the Hewitt Test to evaluate serves, performed with 3 trials and 10 scored serves. The data was then analyzed descriptively to calculate the mean, standard deviation, and distribution of the test results. Results. The results show that 1 athlete or 5% were in the high category, 5 athletes or 25% in the medium category, 4 athletes or 20% in the low category, and 10 athletes or 50% in the very low category, with an average score of 27.85. Conclusion. The conclusion of this research indicates that the service accuracy of beginner tennis athletes at PELTI Pangkep is still low, with most athletes in the very low category. This research contributes to the development of more effective training methods for beginner athletes.
